It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The platform has two coil springs that allows the rocking chair top to ride on the platform base.

Here is one exceptional rocking chair! It is an oak upholstered rocker that is in wonderful condition. I bought this chair about twenty years ago and had it professionaly reupholstered a few years ago. We have really not used this chair much and it is in the best condition ever. The fabric is very clean and the wood is very very nice. It is very sturdy and not loose at all. There is some felt procector on the bottom rungs. But should come off easily. PICK UP ONLY.

Delaware Valley 5-Slat Ladder Back Rocking Chair, Mid 18th C Antique
This is a mid 18th C Delaware River Valley rocking chair. These chairs were made along the Delaware River in Pennsylvania. New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. They are characterized by the bulbous turnings on the front stretcher, turned front legs, concave and reverse graduated slats and bulbous finials. This is a superior example of the Delaware Valley chair. There are turnings above and below the seat. The 5 slats are highly peaked, and the finials are tall and intact. T he splint seat is original. Likewise. The finish is original and the patina is about as good as it gets. I suspect that this chair was converted to a rocker in the mid to late 19th C due to the rocker profile and later screws. This chair is 42.5"H. 25.5"W, 32.25"D, with a 15.5" seat height. There are losses to the back of the front stretcher turnings, ... moreand the left seat support is cracked. There are also losses to the splint seat(please see the pictures) There is no real joinery movement. Aside from the rocker conversion. This chair is quite similar to a chair appraised by Leslie Keno(2/1/10) on the Antique Road Show pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/archive/200901A30.html($8-12K) It is very likely that this chair has resided in this area(Delaware County. The oak rockers have a great early profile and they were affixed with strong saddle joinery and wooden pegs. The rush seat is old but not original. Likewise, the finish is very old and appropriate, but perhaps not original. This chair is 42.75"H, 24.5"W, 37"D, with a 17" seat height. Old Antique Rocking Chair PA Dutch Folk Art Painted Plank Bottom Rocker
Found in Lancaster PA and is signed and dated 1964 but I can't really make it out other than the date. The chair itself appears older than 1964. It has a single plank seat which is 15 to 16 inches off the floor. 21 1/2 wide arm to arm and stands 42 inches tall at rest. Some of the gold appears older than the rest of the painting. c. 1820's ORIGINAL EARLY ANTIQUE CHILD'S WINDSOR ROCKING CHAIR
I have to set this on the floor and see if the back is still uneven. Cause it sure looks like it is in the photo, but I never noticed it before. I knew this chair was something when my crappy friend Shirley kept trying to get it off of me. Believe it may have been handmade and you can see that it was once painted cause there is a bit of the old milk paint remaining where they were unable to remove it from the coarse ends. Measures 18 inches tall to the top of the back rail, 10 inches tall to the top of the seat and 10 wide at the widest point of the seat. It is 12 inches wide at the to horizontal rail. Very good condition made with hardwood that has been worn down to a beautiful patina. There is one slight hairline in the seat just where the wood has dried out over the years, but the seat is very thick as you can see so is not going anywhere ... morefast. Amazing how they are able to support the back without any side supports. Sort of ignorant about these things, so feel free to email any questions that you may have and I will do my best to answer. You are viewing an antique caned rocking chair produced by none other than the very reputable S. K. Pierce& Son/Station A Gardner Mass: Numbered: 2199-3 Rich History of S. K. Pierce& Son: Founded: Begun in 1830 by Stephen Taylor as a chair shop. Soon after this. Mr. Taylor sold out to Jonas Pierce the 2nd and his brother Sylvester K. Pierce. Sylvester Pierce became sole owner soon after this. When Mr. Pierce died in 1888. His son Frank Pierce took control. Location: South Gardner Products: Chairs for chamber suites. Dining chairs, rockers with cane or cobbler seats, and screw and spring office chairs. Date closed: About 1937. Dims: Gardner Mass was once known as"chair city" As you can assume this antique has the typical normal use/ ware. However it was gently used over the many years of its existance so it is in really good ... moreshape considering its production date. I met with an antique dealer to question the value and production date of the seat cover that was placed over the caned seat. He dated it around 1915 and said that the cover(as seen in the picture) can be removed to repair the caning(that got loosened in one spot-also pictured) if you prefer that look instead. He also said the value was around $500. As explained above. The chair maker's company was EST. in 1830 and closed in 1937, but the seat cover is dated around 1915 so the chair's production essentially is dated between 1830 and 1915, so between 97 and 182 years old. This is a mid 19th C. Boston Rocker" rocking chair that has been appropriately used for a very long time. This yellow painted chair depicts fruit on the top rail with gold and red decoration elsewhere. It is 40"H. 23.5"W, 36"D, with a 14.75" seat height. The rocking chair has the traditional rolling seat, curved arms, and seven thin and concave spindles which support the lower back. There is a crack in the center spindle, but it does not seem to affect the chair's use. There is also slight movement in the legs, but they are not lose. This chair easily supports my 230 lbs, and it is very comfortable. This is a great example of a Boston Rocker and the worn surfaces highlight the chair's comfort and longevity. Antique Vintage Wicker Cane Seat Child's Rocking Chair Rocker Seat
This is a child's antique rocking chair. The arms and back are wicker wrapped. Although the exact age and manufacturer is unknown, I believe it is approximately 50 to 100 years old. It has both a cane seat and back, the patterns on each are unique, the star pattern on the back and the tight classic webbing on the seat. It is supremely constructed and quite sturdy for a child's rocker. The dimensions are 24 inches tall at the back and 17 inches wide at the arms. There is some wear in the woodwork and one spot on the back has a strand of wicker wrapping that is loose. This Is An Authentic Beautiful Victorian Antique Child's Rocking Chair With An Amazing Fan Shaped Back. It Could Be Used As A Photographer's Prop. This Rocker Was Made By Conant& Bush of Gardner, Mass* It Was Never Painted This Rocker Was Purchased For A Woman Named Jessie Who Was Born In 1888 Her Baby Picture Will Accompany Her Rocker On the back of her baby picture is written"Jessie Born 1888 in Hampton. N.H. This exceptional rocking chair is made of rattan. Reed, and cane. It is in very good antique condition. The chair used to have a caned seat and back. When the center cane pieces broke. Possibly because Jessie stood on it, a wooden seat was placed over the top of the original caned seat. That seat ... morehas holes some of which form at star. The cane remnants are under the wooden seat as shown in the 10th picture. It does have some other condition issues. None of these issues affects the chair's stability. There are several pieces of wound reed missing. Examples are shown in photos 6-8. One area has been bound with copper wire soldered into place. There are a couple of other areas along the chair's arms where the reed binding is broken or is missing. This is simply a stunning and authentic child's reed. Caned rocker that is 133 years old! As of the time I listed this rocking chair. Another Ebay seller was selling a envelope and stamp postmarked 1885 by the chair's makers Conant& Bush. This rocking chair is approx. 23" high. Across the arms the chair is 17 1/2" The back is 15 1/2" high and 15 7/8" wide.

Here is an antique Pennsylvania child's rocking chair in original ochre grained paint with brown and black painted decoration on the arms. Legs, seat, back spindles and top crest. Pinstriping was done in black. The thicker stripes and other decoration were done in brown. I would estimate that this chair was made in the late nineteenth century. It is in marvelous condition showing only minor wear that I would expect to see in a chair of this age that was used and well taken care of. It is of solid construction that will enable it to support dolls or reasonably well behaved small children for another century or two. There is some light wear to the paint of the seat and minor chipping to the paint as can be seen in the photos which show the chair from every angle. North Wind Face Rocking Chair The attention to detail in this hand carved chair back indicates the talent from a skilled craftsman and creative design from the artist. The"North Wind Face" was a popular furniture design found during the late 1800's into the early 1900's. This chair's striking red color comes from a water base mahogany dye stain which was applied into the birch wood used to construct this beautiful rocker. This chair is the top notch! There are a few raw rubs on the wood but no major scratches or chips anywhere on the chair. It will be a easy touch up job for the buyer to put a little red stain into the raw areas however we did not want to do this ourselves as we wanted to leave this as original as possible. NOTE* We are going to be upholstering the chair! We will doing a few adjustments to the seat springs/cushions ... morebut we are leaving this chair as ORIGINAL as possible. We are simply going to straiten out the seat base and upholster the seat in a clean but simple fabric just for aesthetic purposes. This is a beautiful antique hoop/sewing rocker circa 1860 that was made with low arms to accommodate the ladies with wide hoop skirts and their sewing. It is in really good shape for being 150 years old with the exception of the following 2 items. The caning in the seat has 1 very small hole(see pic) One of the pieces on one of the arms shows signs of a previous attempted repair(see pic) All other wood on the chair is in very good shape. Antique Rare Vintage 1800's Hand Made With Wooden Peg joints Early Colonial Style Rocking Chair You just do not find early hand made rocking chairs like this anymore. This is a hand made rocking chair with the early use of pegs instead of later chairs which used nails. Screws and other types of later day hardware to assemble. The beauty of this rocking chair is in its lines and its simplicity. Made in an early American Colonial style this is the type of solid wood rocking chair you would expect to see on a wagon train coming from the East traveling Westward. While it is impossible to exactly date a hand built rocking chair like this, the wood pegs and the type of simplicity in the architectural style(all wood parts, use of pegs, no ornate decorations or frills, etc) leads me to believe that it is in the early to mid 1800's, but again, ... moreit was not mass produced like many rockers, and therefore, it is difficult to assign an exact age. However, if you like rare, primitive colonial style furniture this is a wonderful piece of vintage furniture. I searched the internet and was not able to find anything remotely like it. The rocking chair stands 34 and 1/2 inches high. The back of the chair consists of 7 wooden spindles(all well in place) and is 17 inches across. The seat, customary to early 1800 century furniture, is somewhat S shaped in that the front of the seat curls down and the back of the seat turns up. The seat is 20 inches across and 20 inches deep. The two rockers extend 26 inches in length. The chair, spindles, seat, legs, etc. all seem sturdy and all parts are original. I can not see where there has been any repair work done on the chair. Some very minor nicks on the seat which is expected for a chair this age. Local pick up in the Milwaukee area or will ship. Estimating shipping to be in the $90-$100 range, maybe less, and will charge you only for exact shipping costs, plus insurance. Thanks for looking.
