Definitely antique. We would date the chair to c1880. This gorgeous chair is strong and masculine in appearance and would be ideal in a loungeroom. Study or den for that special gentleman. The chair has been tastefully reupholstered with quality fabric with a burgundy ground and geometric pattern, and presents beautifully. These chairs are definitely vintage and we would date them to c1940. These gorgeous. Hard to find wing back chairs are beautifully proportioned, and have the elegance and style so often associated with Louis XV pieces. The solid walnut timber frame is mellow in tone, and features sweeping, curving ... morelines and high wing back design. The timber is highlighted by delightful carving to the top of the small cabriole legs, to the top of the chairs and the centre of the skirt. The chairs are super comfortable, strong and robust. The upholstery is original to the chairs, and is a quality cut velvet floral, in what can only be described as beautiful condition for the 70 years of age and use. There is the slightest fading to the fabric, consistent over all areas of the fabric, which is SO appealing and screams vintage- a look modern designers try to achieve! The fabric presents in soft sage green and pink tones, and is finished with studded trim. The armchairs are generous in size. Being 100cm in height, and 75cm wide. The chairs present in excellent vintage condition. There are no obvious defects to this lovely pair, with both armchairs solid, strong and with no sign of loosening in the joints. A genuine antique French Renaissance style armchair. Of very large proportions. With what we believe to be its original handworked pictorial wool tapestry fabric in lovely antique condition. Definitely antique, we would date this chair to c1880. The frame of the armchair is of oak construction and has a deep, rich natural patina, ... morewith light and dark effects due to age and use over time. The base has a carved stretcher with excellent detail, and the chair stands on squat, carved legs. Simply stunning! This fantastic armchair has gorgeous handcarved detail. With depth and tone. The tapestry is superb! Handworked in wool, with finer stitching on the face and body of the figures, it features a battle scene with deity sitting in judgement. It has a lion on the seat. The tapestry is multicoloured, with beige, blue/grey and olive prominant. The chair is finished with individual studding, and the seat is sprung and webbed, making it very comfortable. This piece oozes quality, age and charm. An impressive piece, indeed! The armchair is big. It measures 123cm in height. And is 67.5cm at its maximum width. It is 59cm deep. The actual frame of the chair is in wonderful condition for age. With no splitting. The upholstery and tapestry are in very good antique condition.
