Vintage Mid 20th Century Desk Chair I am not certain of the exact age or origin of this chair. But it appears to be mid 20th century, probably post World War II. I am suspecting 50s or 60s, but I am no expert on vintage furniture provenance(Antiques Roadshow lingo again. could be older. It is solid wood construction with a laminated desk top on wood. The steel hardware and wood fittings are all in good shape and the chair is tight and serviceable. Its original finish shows obvious signs of wear and regular use and was probably actually in a public school environment in its day. There is still some gum residue(though any actual gum"wads" have long since been removed) under the seat and table! It measures about 32" high overall with a 17 1/2" wide by 17" deep seat. 17" seat to floor height. Pair Of Vintage Mid Century Modern Eames Herman Miller Plywood DCM Cowhide Chair
This Listing is for two Eames DCM cowhide chairs circa 1970. It seems that both came from the estate of the original owner who at one point started to refurbish them. But came up short. Both are in functional condition, but they need some work. It is possible that the eames chair with black feet is not an original cowhide DCM chair, but that it was possibly made to match the DCM chair with white feet, which has slightly more wear consistent with a chair from the 1970 period. The tags and stamps are not on the chairs, however there are areas of discoloration which seem consistent with what original Eames cowhide chairs tags and stamps would have been. This all being said. They are charming and quite rare examples of classic Eames, particularly since the comfortable cowhide surface denotes a uniquely american response to the overwhelming danish/european ... moreinfluence of the mid century modern design movement. They are wonderful and functional in their current condition.and though they would need some restoration to become showroom caliber pieces, they are by far superior in comfort, historical relevance, and rare styling than the many knockoffs and modern day reproductions that are available new today. These chairs in excellent condition often sell for between $1000- $2000 per chair. However, these chairs are listed for only $445 for BOTH chairs, shipping included. I am told proper refurbishing or restoration typically increases the value a significant amount in these types of circumstances, however I have not looked into this myself regarding these chairs. These vintage chairs are true American classics. And this upholstery type is significantly more rare than other types, and therefore can it can command a higher price than other eames DCM/LCM chairs in similar conditon. Vintage Mid Century Modern Sofa & Chair RARE 1950's Danish Couch by ROWE Blue
This is a beautiful Mid Century Sofa and Chair in a soft turquoise blue. Built in the 1950's by Rowe Manufacturing Co. The set is extremely sound and sturdy with no wobbling. Rowe Manufacturing was(and still is) an upscale furniture manufacturer. The frame is constructed of solid wood and the springs are all in tack with no sagging. This set has been in one home with one owner since it was made in the 1950's. That home was a non-smoking and no-pet home. The fabric appears to be a very thick, heavy nylon blend. There are no stains! There is visible wear only on the cording edge of the chair arms and minor wear on the cording edge of the sofa. Please see pictures as they are part of this description. Vintage. Mid-Century Modern, Bentwood Chair. There is no label or maker's mark but it looks like a Thonet bent plywood chair from the Eames Era of the 1950s. The finish is a medium, to medium-dark brown. 30 1/2" tall, 18" deep, 18 1/2" wide and weighs 16 pounds. Condition: Normal wear for this vintage. Two small nicks on the edge of the seat. Some small scuffs a round the edges. Wear to the finish on the back rest. Several scuffs around the base of the legs. Sturdy and comfortable. Overall, good to very good condition. Some have lite scratches and may need some lite cleaning as i have only dusted them litely for photos. All the plastic feet are intact and good as well as all the Black rubber grommets.
