As you can see there is no dust in between the carvings. This throne is very sturdy. Sits even without rocking and there is no looseness to any of the seams. There are some natural cracks on the seat that enhances the quality and integrity of this piece. Also one of the little figures across the top has a bit of damage that can be seen from the back but not the front. Both these issues are pictured. Measurements: 42" high. 26" wide and 24" deep. There is 25" from seat to top. 18" from floor to seat and 21" between the two arms. All measurements are approximent. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. There are no markings that say Mission Inn, but there is some sort of an inventory number on the bottom. Frank Miller, the original owner was known to acquire things around the world and put them in his hotel in Riverside. An'oh so pretty' antique early 1900's brass mounted beveled glass trinket or jewelry box in the form of a chair or throne complete with swivel mirror. Total height to the top of the mirror is 7 3/4" The actual glass box is 3" x 3" x 3" The box stands on 4 orb shaped ball feet. This is a sweet little box in very nice condition. The glass is clean with no cracks or chips(some light surface scratches on lid) The box stands straight and solid even though a couple of the feet are curled inwards. The diamond cut pattern with starburst base is spectacular. The mirror shows some minor silvering loss around the edges but by all means is still very usable. Antique Beautiful Carved Wood Arm Chair This gothic looking solid hard wood chair has intricate designed carvings that make it a one of a kind original. This heavy chair would be very fitting in a church setting whether it be a large cathedral or a small church. Would also look beautiful in a large home. It is sure to be an object of conversation. The finish is original and I personally cleaned all the nooks and crannies with a cotton swab. As you can see there is no dust in between the carvings. This throne is very sturdy. Estate Find: What a rare and fabulous find! This RJ Horner Griffin Finial Hall Throne Chair dating circa 1890s. I am not a furniture expert. However, based on my research I'm convinced this is an original Horner chair. This chair meets every criteria listed here: rarevictorian.com/2008/06/attributing-rj-horner-hall-chairs.html. This chair is truley majestic and could be the centerpiece of any period decor. It sits very comfortable and your mind can't help but wonder at who may have set in the chair in it's history. These chairs were fairly expensive for their time so it was almost assuredly from a home of wealth. The estate this chair was purchased from contained many high end pieces of antique furniture and artwork. This chair is the quartersawn oak variation. There is no label attached to this chair as with some Horner work. ... moreThis isn't uncommon for pieces of his work. There is the light area on the bottom of the chair that has the number"2235" printed in it. This chair is in impressive condition. Especially when you consider it's age. There is a wonderful patina on both arms, across the fron of the seat, and a small amount near the bottom of the back where the stain has been worn off over the years from use. There are a couple minor issues. On the top right of the backrest is a piece of missing ornamentation roughly 1" long. Another tiny piece also missing from the trim on the right leg. There is a small amount of wear along the top edge on the backside of the backrest. A few other minor scratches can be noticed, primarily around the feet area. Other than those, I have not noticed anything wrong with this chair. This chair would be beautiful in any collection. Restoration costs would be minimal if the new owner chose to do so. VICTORIAN GOTHIC REVIVAL ANTIQUE LADIES CHAIR HAND CARVED GORGEOUS! Hand made nails used Golden colored with floral needlepoint Thick padded back& seat Oriental/gothic influenced hand carved wood Front casters are original This is a very unique style and I haven't been able to find anything like it. All of the nails(including the very large one with the square nut pictured in photo#9) have all handmade heads. Has a black finish which appears to be the original finish. Has these unique finger hooks on the top in the back(see photo#4) Your fingers fit perfectly under them so that you can lift the back and roll it on the front casters. This piece is in really good shape for its age. The wood has finish rubbed off in spots throughout and the chair may need some slight tightening. But tight for the most part and certainly sturdy enough ... moreto use. In photo#3, you can see a small, round, clear spot on the seat. Please see the photos for more details as the photos act as part of the description as well. In photo#9, there is a large bolt head showing in the back of the chair by the seat and the end& nut show on the bottom.it's not like that on the other side. It appears to be hand planed and DEFINITELY hand carved. The black fabric on the bottom is newer and without removing it. I'm not sure what's underneath, but in pulling the sides back a bit, all of the nails are hand made& old. Other than the staples holding on that back fabric, all of the hardware is 19th century. I believe that it had been reupholstered at some point due to original nail holes around the current edges of the fabric. It sounds like it is filled with some straw and under the black bottom fabric, there is what looks like a potato sack type of material. So, I'm thinking that if it were reupholstered, it was done a long time ago. There are nicks and paint missing throughout from use. The overall presence of this piece in the room is just awesome. My grandfather brought two of these remarkable hand carved original antique thrones at about the turn of the century 1900. He hade two daughters and gave one to each. It was my mothers and has sat safely and respectably in our family's home for many years. We have done some research and we bilieve it is from the Dhing Dynasty era. I'm only selling because I'm not crazy about the tattoo design.The seat is in great condition and features an embroidered tribal tattoo graphic on the back.
