The upholstery is a light gold velvet, and it could easily be reupholstered. The chair is made of solid wood, and is mainly finished in a blond color, with the carved backrest being finished in a dark stain. There are light surface scratches and dings on the wood finish from general use over many years. I am unsure of the age or origins of the chair. The legs have a slight saber style curve to them. The chair is 32.5” tall at the top of the backrest, 18” tall at the seat, 18.

This chair, I believe, ... moredates to the Mid to Late19th Century, most likely between 1880 and 1900. The chair is in very good condition, with only some light surface scratches on it, that are typical of such an old piece. There are a few areas where the finish is damaged, or chipped off, and these can be seen in the photos. It has a carved splat back with a woven rush seat. The seat has obviously been redone, and is in very good condition, with only light signs of wear. The chair has sabre legs on the front, and turned tapering legs on the back. There is some slight separation at the back on the side of the vase where this portion of the splat connects to the supports.
