PAIR (2) VINTAGE LOUNGE CHAIRS RARE BRONZE BRASS FINISH BAUGHMAN PROBBER STYLE
For your consideration is a pair of vintage.Upholstered lounge chairs in the style of Milo Baughman. These have no tags and are unmarked, so we are unsure of designer or manufacturer, but these could well be one of his designs for Thayer Coggin. These are in a hard to find unlacquered brass/bronze finish rather than the more common chrome ones. The metal has a beautiful soft patina common in unfinished brass left to age; this is not a super shiny brass finish. They are substatial and have presence and are nearly cubic in shape(see dimensions, below) These chairs have loose seat and back cushions that rest within the metal frame. They are covered in a chenille type fabric that is a light neutral color. Sort of brownish taupe. Best representation of true color is in picture 11. These are fully zippered(see picture 12) On the arms of the metal ... moreframe are padded rests in the same fabric(pictures 3,5,and 6) and these are upholstered onto the frame. The frame is also upholstered in this fabric under the seat cushion(picture 5) and the very underside of the chair seat had the typical black fabric(picture 9)The foam of the armrests and the loose cushions are intact with no hardening or lumpiness. The fabric is in very good condition with no holes. Tears, stains,discoloration or noticeable odors. It is perfectly useable as is, but these would be stunning rupholtered in a jewel-toned velvet or a rich wool. The metal frame is in good vintage condition. With no dents,dings or breaks that we can see. It does have the normal wear and aging associated with plated metal, but we think this patina just adds to the good looks of these chairs. The most noticeable areas are on the front of the arms(see picture 6, and then picture 7 for extreme closeup) Each leg retains a white plastic protective disc at the foot(picture 10) The chairs are sturdy and sit without wobble.
