Each chair frame has been refinished in a dark walnut tone and upholstered in a textured neutral light fabric with a tufted back and seat. Imagine how awesome these chairs would look in your dorm or rec room! This is an amazing pair of mid-century arm/lounge chairs that I rescued from the break room of an old department store in 200 3. They have been a part of my home for the past 10 years. But it's time they find a new home. As far as I know they are completely original. The photos show the underside of the chairs with what I believe are the original springs. I can find no makers marks. Only a stamped date of"Sept 10 1961" see photo) The original tags are still attached(see photo) They each have a total height of 29 inches. Width of 27 inches, and a total depth of 26 inches. Each cushion is 27 inches wide and 19 inches deep. They are very solid and very comfortable. They are a medium wood with metal details. The cushions are made of purple vinyl. They show some ... morenormal wear on the arms and legs. The vinyl on one chair has a 2 inch tear in the middle of the seat cushion(see photo) and some sort of white paint stain on the very top of the back cushion which can probably be removed with some TLC(see photo) You will also notice that there are 4 of the original plastic plugs which covered the construction screws are missing. The story goes that these chairs sat outside of the women's dressing room so the hubbies would have a comfy place to wait for their wives. My family has loved them-I hope yours will too! I originally took pictures of both together in the rain and then took individual shots so several angles could be seen on an individual basis as well.They sit solidly and slightly rock so very comfortably and are heavy and well made. The upholstery has some wear but no major tears or rips. The chrome on one chair has some areas where worn chrome has been repainted with"chrome" paint but overall the chairs' overall tubular steel framework looks very nice. The circular ... morearm frames and upraised padded arms add to a really streamlined design. The real neat aspect of these chairs is that they recline as shown so there are 3 simply adjustable positions on both for casual times. The overall frame is very solid and the seats are very comfy. There aren't many of these original sets left intact and with todays idustrial style popularity. These are a real good buy for their uniqueness and their reasonable price.The measurements are 31" high at the back, 37" deep, and 28" wide. This gorgeous pair of mid century modern lounge chairs are in very good condition. There is wear given their age but there are no tears or rips. The back of one chair has two nails pounded into it as the last photograph shows. The legs have some dings and wear but do not wobble. The cushions are not removable. The cushioning is still in excellent condition and the seating is very sturdy. The bottoms are also in excellent condition. There are some smudge marks to the fabric from use but this may be able to be removed with a good cleaning. I saw no maker's mark or tag. It has been lightly cleaned but they could use a good vacuuming to remove dust from the crevices. They measure approximately 32.5 inches high and the seat is approximately 16 inches from the floor. Pair Mid Century Danish Modern Designer Lounge Chairs Selig Jensen
This is a matching pair of mid century-Danish Modern wood lounge chairs. I'm not sure who made them- the only marks I can see"Style No/501 A" those marks appear on the seat bottom of both chairs. They have. At least to me, a classic Danish modern line. Sleek and sophisticated without a whole lot of fuss to them. Even without the cushions, they still look really cool. The chairs measure 28" from side to side. 32" from front to back and 28" from top to bottom. The seat is 21 1/2" x 25" I believe these may come apart- there are slotted screws that appear to hold the frame together but I haven't attempted to unscrew them. The bottom cushion is supported by a series of what I think are coated heavy duty springs or wires( see photo) The chairs do show wear. Especially on the arms and the bottom of the ... morelegs. They are stable however, and I haven't been able to find any splits, cracks, etc in any of the"stress" areas" The cushions were not with the chairs when I found them so they aren't included in the auction.
