The leather straps that support the backs will need replacing or repairing. The leeather on the feet of the chairs is in excellent coondition. The cushions are in very good original condition and they store in the cubby under the chairs. These chair measure 22" long x 20" wide x 10" tall when folded. PAIR MID CENTURY FRENCH BERGERE CLUB CHAIRS ORIGINAL BRICK RED & GOLD FABRIC
We are pleased to offer this exceptional pair of Mid Century. French Bergere style, club chairs. This outstanding pair features heavy, solid wood frames with interesting back detail. They also retain their original fabric. The fabric is a velvet style in a beautiful brick red or dark cinnamon(some brownish undertones) with gold accent dots. The pair have removable back rest cushions. The cushions have corded tassels and the cords are designed to hang on the ball finials which are located on the upper back sections of the frame. The chairs are low profile but are generous in width. We were told, at the time of purchase, that the chairs are Ethan Allen. However, we cannot find any manufacturer's mark to positively identify their designer. They are exceptional in quality and are design and were most assuredly expensive when new. They have ... morebeen well cared for and show very little evidence of age(1960s) or use. There are a few minor scuffs to the wood at the floor area but nothing distracting. The fabric is truly remarkable for its age. The fabric of the chair backs may be somewhat lighter than the front profiles which indicates that they sat with their backs in front of a window. Again, you have to look very hard to notice and it is not a glaring issue. As previously stated, these are exceptional chairs in very good condition. THEY ARE HEAVY and are quite sturdy as well. The chairs measure 26.5" tall to the top of the back frame and 27.5" tall to the small ball finials on the back frame. The chair is 30" front to back. They are 29" at their widest measurement. For your consideration is a Stunning Pair of Vintage Art Deco/ Mid-Century Modern. Harvey Probber era, Genuine Mohair Club Chairs! We purchased these chairs along with the matching sofa(see my other listings for the sofa) out of an office in Massachusetts where they had been since the 50's! Obviously because of this they had very little use. There is some rubbing to the mohair on the front corners where your hands go, and some color fading throughout from the decades, most evident on one side of one chair that faced the front windows, but overall a rich deep royal blue with purple notes, really great color and even better texture. We are pleased to offer this beautiful pair of Mid Century chairs. This is a very nice quality pair. Manufactured by Sam Moore. The chairs are matched, Louis XVII style, but have different colored fabrics which gives lends a lot of interest. The chairs have Pecan wood frames with a medium wood tone and a black, lightly splattered finish. The frames are nicely contoured with a slightly rounded profile. The chairs are a low profile with button tufted accents on the backs. They have removable seat cushions. The legs are squared and tapered. The fabric is velvet with a short nap(not crushed velvet) The chairs have very tight springs with the original burlap underneath. This is a gorgeous pair of chairs with nice, vintage character. They are in very good condition with minor signs of age/use. The wood has a few bumps and bruises to the finish ... morethat is not severe and can be resolved. The fabric is overall good. There are a couple small stains that may be able to be removed with cleaning. The gold chair has one small area of wear, about the size of a dime. The red chair has an area of fading. I do not know the maker, the labels have been removed. In the style of Milo Baughman, probably dating from the 1970s. They measure 23 1/2" tall(to top of frame not including pillow) x 33" wide x 34" deep. Poor Condition. Signs of water damage-have water stains and a faint mildewy smell. These were stored in a basement and not well cared for. Definitely need re-upholstery. One has a hole cut in the side under the pillow. One wooden plinth is water damaged and in poor condition, and will need repair or replacement. It has several nails in it, and has warping& separation of the wood, as well as veneer loss. For Sale Matched Pair Mid Century Thayer Coggin Club Chairs- Attrib. to Milo Baughman I have only seen one similar pair of chairs by Thayer Coggin. These appear to be fairly uncommon There is no way to confirm that these are by Milo Baughman. But he did design for Thayer Coggin for quite some time and designed many of their chairs, including a slew of similar club chairs I would describe the color as a deep purple. Not a vulgar color. Though Overall I would say these are in very good condition. No significant issues whatsoever. I will detail what minor issues I can see NOTE. I just got these back from the furniture cleaners and the chair on the LEFT is still a little moist(you can see the spots on the front) KNOWN ISSUES- Some pilling of the wool upholstery- Some dings on the bottom edge of the Walnut frame(from a vacuum. I BET) Not visible- ... moreSome wear on the front of each arm. But no holes in the fabric(pictured) CONDITION DESCRIPTION DETAILS- No holes anywhere in the upholstery- Frame is solid- Springs. Up for auction are these two vintage 1940's French Club Chairs from the now closed Gimbel Brothers Department of New York City. Gimbel Brothers was located near the Herald Square in New York from 1910-1980& was in competition with Macy's which was located just a block away. These chairs were custom ordered by the customer from Gimbel's. We purchased the chairs from a wonderful estate of a dear neighbor of ours who was an antique dealer. The chairs measure approximately 39" high x 30" wide& 29" deep. The material looks like velvet to me. They are in good condition& very comfortable. There are some stains and wear to the chairs We will work with the buyer at our end regarding shipping& of course free local pick up.
