Wow.what a pair of chairs! This pair is from the 1960's and is oh so sparkly! The vinyl is in fantastic condition. With only one very small hole(see picture#3) and a slight scratch(see picture#11) to the back of one of the chairs. There are some paint speckles on the chairs, bt I hav found they can be removed. I have removed quite a few of the specks, but will leave the rest to the new owner. Herman Miller Shell Chairs Pair Fiberglass Vintage eames era Cream Eggshell Tan
These are vintage original Herman Miller fiberglass Shell chairs in the beautiful classic cream or Eggshell or tan color. The chairs are in excellent original condition. The base on them are the standard base. The left chair seems to be missing the original front feet and has chrome replacements. They have been bolted through. Which is stronger, to attach the top to the base, instead of the original adhering. The right chair has all the original style plastic feet. The fronts of the fiberglass are in fairly good conditions with minor dings and marks. The right chair has some small pitting in the seat. Maybe from some one welding a bit close. You can see in one of the close up pictures,the pitting, otherwise its not very noticeable from a distance. The backs may have some small marks and dings but overall good. I believe the wood is some sort of fruitwood. But uncertain. I have been told by an antiques dealer that these chairs are worth between $500 and $750 each. These chairs were found in an estate sale in North County San Diego neighborhood of La Jolla inside of a home that was loaded with original MCM furniture. We used the original cushions for exact sizing and had them replaced. Also new upholstery and strapping, the fabric is MCM faint pattern muted creamy mellow yellow color which we had done from a well known vintage restoration furniture dealer in San Diego CA. See the unique patina brass feet as well(I left the brass patina.However you could easily apply brass cleaner to shine them right up) they sit sturdy and do not wobble at all.
