The cushions are on real springs-not ... morethe newer knock offs on plywood and thick foam. They could be designer pieces as they came from the same estate as the Jens Risnom and Girsberger chairs that I have just listed. These are sound and solid with no holes or tears to the original fabric. Fabric is quite thick and durable and rather a golden yellow color. Seat height is 16 1/2" in the front-14 1/2" in the back-so they set an angle and you just sort of lean back into them. Cushioning is still in good shape and they set comfortable. Seat width is 24 1/2" with a depth of 22" Back height is 33" They are pretty clean but you might want to hit them with some upholstery cleaner. I don't see any stains. I need to remove the legs from the seat frame to hold the shipping cost down. To do so I need to remove the staples from the dust liner on the underside to get to the nuts and bolts that hold the legs on. They just bolt right back on with wing nuts for the front and nuts for the rear legs. Upholstery will stay tight as that is on with small nails. Some wear to the mahogany stain finish but not a lot. I think the wood is probably poplar stained mahagony. If you would like to pick up and save the shipping my zipcode is 17363. The chairs are both tight and sturdy with strong, tight rush bottom seats that were probably replaced in the latter 20th century. The seats are 15 inches in height and are 20 1/2 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches, front to back. Listing this evening a nice set of Oak Pressed Back(pressback) chairs in made in the great old USA. These are great looking copies of early 1900's pressbacks. They blend in nicely with originals. The chairs are 39 1/2" tall with a seat height of 18" They are 18" across the front of the seat and have a 17 1/4" seat depth. There are no breaks in the wood and the chairs are solid as a rock. There is slight chipping on the top of one chair(pic#4) and some staining(maybe from alcohol) on the seat of the other chair. With pads on the seats you can't even see the staining on that seat. The finish is a medium oak. The chairs have been thoroughly cleaned and polished with wax. These are excellent quality chairs as far as copies go. The stretchers. Pressing(quite deep) and all carvings are very well done. You can own a pair ... moreof these for less than half the cost of vintage chairs. Both chairs are marked with a sticker(and a brand on one chair) and the numbers as pictured. A really cute little pair of Pre-School Kinder-chairs. They are in definite need of restoration. But should be saved as is. The back slats have the American Chair Company imprint in very legible condition. One of the chairs has worn paint on it which needs to be stripped. The other chair has a fair amount of de-lamination of the plywood on all 3 wood pieces. I have very effectively reclaimed this type of damage using fiberglass resin. It fills the void. RARE PAIR OF SAVONAROLA CHAIRS These are OLD chairs that have been painted black and upholstered in a tiger-striped fabric. They were found in the basement of a home on the North Shore of Long Island and were very rusty. I believe that the chairs are early 20th century and are either French or Italian. They are trimmed in gold. I have not seen another pair like them-similar but not exact and they fold up. If I had the time. I would paint them white and put another fabric on them. The chairs are heavy. I have stipulated pick up only but I could deliver.
