It does show wear, it's still ... morein very good condition and features charming carved details with fine turnings on the arms and legs and best yet– it appears to retain its original finish. Many of these examples have been painted or refinished or just don’t exist any longer from years of hard use. The fine turnings on the arms and the ball at the end of each arm have age appropriate wear. The top of the back has attractive and subtle carving. The oak has mellowed to a beautiful rich color. The frame is very sturdy. There are areas of rubbing to finish and it could use a good cleaning with the appropriate products,which I will leave to its new owner. I have viewed many examples of antique Victorian era furniture, but have not seen one with the exact same details. There are no markings, so this very well may be a home-made folk art piece by someone with good.woodworking skills. This special little chair is more than 120 years old and immediately available fora child or a doll to enjoy. Label but Gunn Furniture Company was best known for using the side slide mechanism(which this one has) for the doors rather than the scissor type. Beautiful quarter sawn oak case with 3 stacks and original wavy glass. The top 2 cases are 11 inches high able to hold books 8 1/2 inches high. The bottom case is larger at 15 inches high and able to hold books 13 1/2 inches tall. The case together measures 34 1/4 inches wide and 14 1/2 inches deep including curved over hang top and bottom. The second piece(which I presume is the top) measures the same as the base. but is 3-3/4" high. This is a vintage/antique garden hand tool that was definitely made to last for many years of hard use. This neat old trowel is made of heavy duty steel with a sturdy oak handle-it weighs in at nearly 13 ounces. The overall length is 13 1/2"the blade is 6" and with the shaft it is 10 1/2" That stubby oak handle is 1 1/2" across the top. There is a bit of a gap between the bottom edge of the handle and the shaft but the handle is very well secured.it is not about to come loose. ANTIQUE GOLD GESSO OAK WOOD VICTORIAN PICTURE FRAME w PYROGRAPHY FLEMISH ART
For your consideration is an extremely rare and beautiful large burnt wood Flemish art or pyrography. Said to have come from an old Odd Fellows Lodge. Containing the entire Lord's Prayer burned by hand onto a 24" by 20" board and adorned with two glass"eyes" Framed in an original Victorian golden oak and gesso picture frame measuring a huge 34" tall by 30" wide. This unusual 19th century art form called"pyrography" was very popular in the late 19th century and small pieces from this period are very easy to find. This example, however, is an extraodinary expression of the art form and perhaps one of a kind. I acquired this many years ago from a dealer who claimed it came from a dismantled Odd Fellows lodge and was bundled with the usual I.O.O.F. regalia commonly seen. If so. This piece is unusual ... morein that it doesn't contain any typical Odd Fellows symbology, such as the three links or mason's square and compass. Perhaps the two glass eyes in brass mounts represent I.O.O.F. symbols? Of course this is only speculation. VERY RARE Antique Oak Murphy Bed Dresser Secretary Desk Book Case 1800's
Extremely RARE Murphy Bed combination that includes built in dresser with drawers. Mirror, bookcase, drop down secretary desk and fold down bed! Incredible quality and workmanship and is perfectly clean and all original finish including glass in bookcase door which is extremely wavy glass. This is a large and heavy piece but rolls easily on it's original heavy steel caster wheels. The whole unit turns easily and the bed folds down easily also as the legs automatically fold down and lock into place. In one of the photos you will see a patent date of 1865 that is on one of the arms that holds the mattress in place. This is simply a wonderful piece of furniture and history during a time of pride of craftsmanship when things simply were not disposable and has thus survived this long for that very reason. Antique dresser oak, refinished with original brass keyholes early 1900s
We are selling this beautiful antique oak dresser. It was found in our family's farm house. Which was built in 1890. Unfortunately, some of the wood wasn't in the best shape. However, we were able to refinish it and bring out the beauty of this gorgeous piece. The dresser would look great in a guest or kid's bedroom. We considered using it in our bathroom for extra storage. But it was just a little too wide to fit. It would also make a great entry piece, where it could hold hats, gloves, etc. The condition is quite good given its age. There are no major chips. Cracks, or breaks. The drawers all function, but a couple are just a little sticky. It has great age and petina to add just the right amount of character! Thank you for your interest.
