Crafted during the first years of the 19th Century. It has a wonderful black paint over another layer of reddish orange, probably also a layer over the original and currently unknown color. The back of the chair has a graceful bow, carefully grasping each through-tenoned splinted spindle before diving through the single solid plank pine seat. The seat is heavily patinated, with deep grooves and wear from decades of active use. The entire chair sits over four splayed bamboo carved legs, all four of which tenon through the plank seat before being secured with a splint, each held firmly and perfectly in place with a bamboo carved H-stretcher. This is a most charming chair, in excellent condition with wonderful patina and character throughout- the early painted surfaces are probably not the original layers, but seem to protect earlier layers beneath, these quite possibly the earliest surfaces. A wonderful find for those that are passionate about fine windsor chairs. Measurements: Seat 13.5" wide x 14.5" deep. The seat sits 16" from the ground and the back of the seat is 33.5" high. Condition Report: Paint worn throughout. Probably not the original surfaces. Deep groves and losses in the plank seat. Chips and abrasions throughout. One nail, appears to be modern, on side of chair stabalizing hoop back. Plank seat split with a butterfly joint securing seat from beneath and two screws locking it in place. Chair is structurally strong, but could possibly be too weak to use functionally as a chair. Please review the images in the slideshow for a full overview of condition.

Overall a very beautiful design! These dining chairs were made in England sometime around 1920. Probably commissioned for a wealthy family or estate and then passed down from there. We acquired them near Oxford. The previous owners have taken very good care of these chairs as is evident by the current excellent condition. We have chosen an“excellent” condition rating for these chairs. They are very sturdy and strong and have no wobbles or looseness to them. The barley twist stretchers at the bottom ensure the chairs will stay sturdy for years to come. There are no major breaks or repairs. Provenance and Background Info A PAIR of Danish oak and seagrass dining chairs from the early 1960’s. I’m going to come out and say these are Danish- they are certainly not Australian anyway. They are perhaps by a different Scandinavian maker but I doubt it. They are in the style of Borge Mogensen’s work but for fear of researching the net for hours and not finding anything definitive I am not researching them further. Any lover of mid-century furniture will know they’re special. They’re vintage and virtually never seen in Australia. I guarantee they are vintage. My estimate is 1960’s but perhaps early 70’s. These chairs are similar in design to the Parker spadeback ... morechairs from the early 1960’s. The Parker spadeback is one of the best furniture designs to come out of Australia and is possibly the most sought-after of any Australian mid-century dining chair. Parker spadebacks are currently fetching $450 each in mid-century design shops. This pair should be worth more than Parker(ie. around $1000 the pair) oak is extremely sought-after and woven seagrass seats are a step above the other seats you’ll find in a mid-century chair. I personally love sea-grass- it’s earthy. Textured, has a warm presence and it’s durable. After 40+ years of use these seats are still going strong with no noticeable damage to report. If you have 4 Danish chairs and want to extend your suite to 6 this pair would be a great choice. They’d be perfect to use in another area of your room or house and pull into the dining table whenever you need extra seating. Stylistically they will match any Danish chair but the variation in the timber and seats will add a spark of interest. You don’t need to have your furniture all matching in colour- that lacks flair and imagination. Matching in style will usually work much better. I’ve been in this business for 11 years and I’ve never

I am selling these gorgeous French Gothic style antique chairs. They are in great condition. Very sturdy and solid and newly reupholstered in a rich cream fabric. I believe they are oak, but I am not sure of my woods. Dimensions are 41" high, 20" wide, 20" deep, and 18" seat height. They have beautiful carvings and finials and the wide seats are very comfortable. I love them but I think I need plain chairs for my ornate table that you see in the photos. For sale is our family dining room table. The table and chairs are made of oak. They have been well cared for over the years. The table has always been covered with a heat pad and a table cloth to protect it. It has been cleaned and treated on a regular basis. The table is 8 foot long with the extension in it and 6 foot without. The extension is stored on a hidden shelf under the table when not in use. Coaster Oak dining table 6 chairs trestle table perfect
I am sad but this doesn't fit in our new house. This is a coaster oak trestle table with 2 leaves and 6 chairs. Table has been covered for it's entire life and has no scratches or color imperfections. Four of the chairs are perfect as well. The 2 captains chairs has some definite wear on the arms(I have used old english on them and they look much better but I chose to show them as raw as possible. Original Arts and Crafts solid oak table and chairs. The table has a removable central section to reduce the size to square. The original winder will be supplied. The table sits on it's original Victorian casters. There is a recently made ring on the table which is fading in the sun and should be easy to polish out(see picture 3)The chairs are very unusual as they have low-level stretchers which really accentuate their Arts and Crafts style. Two of the chairs have loose corner joints. But these could be easily glued. The drop-in seats are currently covered in natural linen.
