Vintage Romweber Viking Oak Dining/ Conference Table with 6 Chairs This is a beautiful Vintage Romweber Viking Oak Table with 6 chairs. Two captains chairs and four side chairs. It can be used as a dining table or conference table. The RomWeber company was founded in 1879 in Batesville. Indiana and created quality American made furniture. This piece is part of their Viking Oak Collection and I believe it dates from the 1970's or early 1980's. It has three 15" leaves and when all leaves are used the total legnth of the table is 117" It is 44" wide and 30" high. Beautiful hand carved legs. There is a drawer at one end of the table. The grain and pattern on this table are beautiful. It would be difficult to find new furniture of this quality at any price. The wood on the chairs is in very good condition. No cracks ... moreor large chips in the wood. The wood could use some refinishing as these chairs were used almost daily for more than 30 years and the finish in worn on the arms of the captain chairs and on the top of some of the ladderbacks. The seats do need to be reupholstered. The leather on most of the seats is worn in places and really would need to be replaced as well as some of the webbing under the seats needs to be replaced on at least one of the chairs. I have a price sheet showing the table from 1982. The price at that time was $4,788.00 for the table alone. I also have the company's"discontinued" items list from Jan 1984 which shows that this table was being discontinued at that time. But I am not sure how long it was part of their product line. I know that my in-laws had this table prior to 1981. This was used by my in-laws and was the table that they ate at most often. Overall. The table is in very good condition. There are a couple of places, mainly on the edge of a couple of the leaves, that there is some finish missing, you can see it in the close up photos. There are also a couple of scratches. SIX CARVED? ANTIQUE ELEGANT VINTAGE OAK CANE DINING ROOM CHAIRS
SIX CARVED? ANTIQUE OAK CANE DINING ROOM CHAIRS. These dark oak chairs are unique. The antique dealer described the wood as“rich-man’s oak” The legs. Feet and side pieces to the back are each turned and very stylish. The cross-bracing at the bottom of the legs is in a unique“X” style. The scroll-work(which appears to be carved) at the top of each chair resembles the broken-pediment design with a trefoil pattern in the center. At the middle of the back is a circular design reminiscent of a nautical wheel. NOTE: A couple of the pictures appear to show the chairs as having a reddish tent. That is caused mainly by the flash. The other pictures are more accurate- a very dark tone. These are cane-bottom chairs. At present five are in excellent condition. Having been re-caned. The sixth is usable but in need of re-caning. Structurally the chairs ... moreare sound– no loose joints. We purchased these from Kelley’s antiques over fifty years ago. I think that even at that time they qualified as“antiques” When we were buying them another customer came into the store while they were still on display. Manufactured somewhere in England or Scotland in the early to mid-twentieth century and recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland. They are unmarked but are sturdy, tight and very well constructed as shown in my close up photographs and would also be quite easy to reupholster or change out the seat covering. At the same time all the press cane seats have been replaced. They are pretty much 100% perfect. I believe the chairs have been paste filled. Which is quite time consuming, but makes a large difference in the finish of the chair. The chair’ s glow of the finish is so nice and it has some age on it. The cane seats were expertly done. One has a slight sag to it. But if you put hot water on it then it should tighten right up. It doesn’t appear like anything is broken on any of them, but my eyes are bad so let’s say that there are a couple of small holes to be safe. Overall they look like they are in excellent shape. One of the chairs has a slight discoloration on the top corner of the seat that appears to be a stain, but it has nothing to do with the structure or tightness. Overall the chairs are in really nice shape. They have a curved design T back, flared back leg, spade foot cabriole front leg and a solid H oak cross stretcher. Here is a fabulous group of six antique Gothic style heavy carved walnut chairs with gorgeous barley twist columns and stretchers. Upholstered seats and seat back panels front and back, and a beautifully carved North Wind face across the top of the back. There are five side dining chairs and one over size arm chair, for the head of the table. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, construction and condition of this wonderful late 19th-early 20th century English oak chairs. A set like this especially in such lovely condition is a rare find. The large arm chair stands 48 1/2 inches tall and measures 24 inches wide by 22 inches front to back. It has a seat height of 18 inches and the seat itself is 23 inches wide and 20 inches front to back. With 19 inches clearance between the two ... morearms. The five arm side chairs each measure 45 1/2 inches tall and measure 18 inches wide by 20 inches front to back. They too have a seat height of 18 inches and their seats are 18 inches wide and 19 inches deep, front to back. All six chairs appear to have the original casters on the front two legs as per their original design. Lot of 3 wooden chairs. They appear to be handmade. They are approx. 33 inches tall. The seat is approx 14.5x15.5 inches. I believe these are oak. But I am not an expert on wood, so please judge for yourself. They need some TLC. The wood is rough in spots with some staining, maybe a paint spot or two, a split in the wood at the seat back, as shown in photo) some loose nails or joints.very primitive. They could use a refinishing or they could be used the way they are with their added character, just add a cushion! Antique, oak roll top dining room table and 5 chairs, 1 armed and 4 without arms
Both ends pull out to extend table to 8 feet. Ends roll under when ends are pushed in to make table 55 inches X 44 3/4 inched wide. Very unique, 5 turned numbered legs with matching( on leg and table) Chairs are ball and claw. Made in Pennsylvania circa 1930. I have owned it since 1970, I bought it at an auction in Berwick, Pa. Quite different to the norm. These chairs are definitely suited to fine dining, and work wonderfully well with a French parquetry-topped table. The chairs ... morehave drop-in seats and are currently upholstered in a reasonably unsuitable patterned vinyl in an ocre colour. Definitely something I would change, and an easy task to select fabric and cover yourself! The chairs are much more substantial than most French chairs of this period. They feature wide. Ornate backs, with central carved features in a lyre-type form. Standing on tall cabriole legs, the chairs also have turned support rails and a shaped skirt. Simply beautiful! All chairs are solid. Strong, and extremely sturdy with no sign of movement in joints. Each chair measures 102cm high. 47cm wide across the back, 44.5cm wide at the seating, and the top of the timber frame at the front is 44.5cm from ground height. The chairs. for auction is a very nice quartersawn oak split pedestal dining table with 4 very nice quartersawn oak dining chairs to match. the table is 48 inches in diameter and is a great size for use. the larger tables are difficult to pass food across. anyway. The table opens without effort and allows for 4- 12 inch leaves which fit to perfection and original to the table. the table has large claw feet that are very well executed. the chairs have extra large claw feet as well. i am selling this as a set as they have always been together from day one. i did recover the seats on the chairs before i listed them. they sit nice, i added another 1 inch of flat foam to the cushions. the table has a very nice and contoured center leg support. at any rate when the table is all the way open i think it is 102 inches, so practically 4- 12 inch leaves would be ... moreall that could be inserted, amking it an 8 foot banquet table, which is larger than many dining rooms will accept. i have many more pictures, if you would like to see more just ask. ebay only allows me 12 pictures. it is a wonderful set in near mint condition. it is very sturdy and tight. no wiggles, wobbles, a very sturdy and well made set. it may be picked up at my home pr shipped at buyer's expense. good luck i might split the set if it does not sell, but i would prefer to keep it together and if i split it, i will no doubt ask for some extra price. i am sure i am starting it for less than i have in it, considering the expense of recovering etc.
