You'd say"Fauteuil" They were probably manufactured after the second world war, and are made of solid walnut. The upholstery is fairly new, clean and no pet or smoking odors. The seats have springs are nicely firm. The backs have a slight"crunch" to them, which makes me think they have horsehair in there somewhere. Nice old school materials. The pieces have all the curves and cabriolets of this particular style, and have bits of floral-motif hand carving on the crest, the knees of the front legs, and the center of the skirt. They are solid and sturdy- I can see one joint that looks like it may have been re-glued. There are no repaired splits. There are two odd circular pits in the back of one of the legs- very shallow, and the size of a collar button. Other than that, magnifique! Shipping is FREE in the USA. This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. Beautifully Preserved Antique Framed Louis XV Bergere Style Chair. Frame is most likely Turn of the Century(1880's-1920's) w/ elaborate French style carvings on all 4 legs. Seat frame, and arms. Beautifully carved floral motif on front center of seat frame, with leaves extending horizontally towards the 2 front legs. The front Cabriole legs are adorned on top with swirling scrolls and finished on the base/feet with whorls. The sides of the 2 front legs are carved in a'la feuille godronnee' style(pieces of leaves or flowers that fold naturally) that continue up the leg connecting to the seat molding on the sides. The rear legs are carved identically to the front. The back molding has the same curved style, but does not have any carved motifs. The arm molding is carved on 3 sides and extends down to the seat frame. Scrolled ... moreAcanthus leaf carvings extend from the top of the arm to its ending point. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique chair. The chair dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and has been restored. The chair features carved wood frame with French. Louis XVI details. The chair has an ornate back with acanthus scrolls and flower medallion all in raised relief. The chair has sleek, curved arms with wide, paw like arm rests. The back legs are straight and nondescript. The front legs have cabriole lines and large paw/claw feet with nice details. The front legs are on metal casters. The frame has been painted at some point(not by us) and the paint does have a"milk paint" look to it. The painting has been expertly done with a beautiful color palette which is neutral but very striking. The colors of paint are a very light coffee/cream tan with a darker, chocolate brown as contrast. The flowers in the ... morecenter back have a blue tone to them. Circa 1800's antique Louis XV bureau de dame lady's writing desk in very good Antique condition and it includes The 1850's chair is solid hand carved mahogany at a very good Price at the buy it now price. All of the bronzed metal detail has patina as the Pictures show. Including the Leather pull out top which shows very well considering it's age very nicely. Both pieces aré in very good Antique condition and after 24 Year's of ownership, I really don't want to sell them but if the buy it now Price is met, or best offer over $3,000.00, but close to the buy it now price!
