You'd say"Fauteuil" They were probably manufactured after the second world war, and are made of solid walnut. The upholstery is fairly new, clean and no pet or smoking odors. The seats have springs are nicely firm. The backs have a slight"crunch" to them, which makes me think they have horsehair in there somewhere. Nice old school materials. The pieces have all the curves and cabriolets of this particular style, and have bits of floral-motif hand carving on the crest, the knees of the front legs, and the center of the skirt. They are solid and sturdy- I can see one joint that looks like it may have been re-glued. There are no repaired splits. There are two odd circular pits in the back of one of the legs- very shallow, and the size of a collar button. Other than that, magnifique! Shipping is FREE in the USA. MID CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS SILVER LEAF CARVED WOOD ROPE TASSEL SILK BERGERE CHAIR
We are pleased to offer to you this FABULOUS. Mid Century chair. This is an incredible chair with both French(Louis XV) and Napoleon III design/form characteristics. It features a substantial WOOD(not composite) frame which is exquisitely carved in a dimensional rope pattern. Carved tassels accent the arms as well as the feet. There is also a"tied knot" accent on the lower legs. The wood has a heavily applied, silver leaf finish with a black, slightly mottled over glaze. The chair features the finest silk fabric. The fabric is original and is a beautiful, antique ivory color(a very light cappuccino color in indirect light) with a pearlescent sheen. There is a tonal wood grain pattern which adds further interest. The chair has plush, slightly overstuffed seat and back. This is a chair of pure luxury, both in terms of appearance as ... morewell as materials and design. The chair dates to the 1970s and may be of Italian manufacturing. It is in VERY good condition with minor evidence of age/use. There are a few, very minor scuffs to the wood which are neither severe nor distracting. The fabric is free of rips, tears, or worn areas. It does have light soiling which can be resolved with a professional cleaning. The padding is very good and it appears that the chair was used very little. It is superb! A very nice ebay customer advised me that this chair was featured in the August 2014 issue of Elle Décor on page 94. The chair measures 29.5" tall. It is 25.25" wide and 24" front to back. This is a fabulous piece that dates to the Mid Century(1950s- 1960s) with plenty of Draper era elegance. The bench is a luxurious piece of fine quality. It features a French Provincial, Louis XVI style and form. The chair has a solid wood(no veneer) frame with fabric seat and removable arm cushions. The wood frame has a whitewashed finish in a cream, light tan color. It features carved/incised floral medallion accents at the tops of the legs as well as on the arms. The roll arm design is accomplished/accented with spindles. The legs are straight and tapered. The fabric is original. It is a minty green background color and is a flat weave. Up for auction we this antique Koken barber chair stool or foot rest. I was told these were used with barber chairs that didn't have them attached. It could of also be used to shine shoes. Not totally sure but I do think these are kind of rare. It does have surface rust but I think some could be cleaned or restored. It measures 12" tall at it's highest point and the 14" by 15" You will probably have a better idea of its age but if I had to guess I would say 1930's. The chair(please note that we have a second chair available under a separate listing) is in original, untouched condition and features tapered, fluted legs. This fluted column feature is repeated on the back of the chair(in between the cane sections) and at the arm rest section. The backs of the chairs are quite nice. They feature an oval, tufted velvet in a rectangular frame, in portrait fashion. The wooden chair back has painted/stencil rose swags on 4 corners around the fabric section. The chair has gilded trim for additional interest. There are small"buttons" on the arm rest. The golden velvet fabric is original. It is in good condition with some soiling ... morethat can be resolved with a steam cleaning. The padding is generous and the chair is comfortable. The original webbing and hand tied coil springs are under the original cover which is stapled to the bottom of the chair. It stood for over 50 years in what is now known as The Weir Farm. A National Historic Site within our National Parks System and my family home. Before that, it belonged to my Grandmother, who lived in Kentucky. I believe she purchased it in Italy during her travels as a young woman. The chair is in good antique condition. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique chair. The chair dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and has been restored. The chair features carved wood frame with French. Louis XVI details. The chair has an ornate back with acanthus scrolls and flower medallion all in raised relief. The chair has sleek, curved arms with wide, paw like arm rests. The back legs are straight and nondescript. The front legs have cabriole lines and large paw/claw feet with nice details. The front legs are on metal casters. The frame has been painted at some point(not by us) and the paint does have a"milk paint" look to it. The painting has been expertly done with a beautiful color palette which is neutral but very striking. The colors of paint are a very light coffee/cream tan with a darker, chocolate brown as contrast. The flowers in the ... morecenter back have a blue tone to them. The fabric has also been replaced at some point. A patterned and textured, dupioni silk has been used on the seat. It features a cream or light tan back ground with a raised, geometric pattern.
