These two chairs are in very nice condition for their age as represented with multiple pictures. The chairs are both tight and sturdy with strong, tight rush bottom seats that were probably replaced in the latter 20th century. The chairs each stand 38 inches tall to the top of the back and measure 21 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches front to back. The seats are 15 inches in height and are 20 1/2 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches, front to back. The back rest and across front of the seats on the chairs are beautifully carved and appear to have hand turned stretchers. These chairs appear to be made of walnut, with rush bottom seats. There is a delightful Louis VX influence to the design of this wonderful pair of antique French country chairs and are a terrific buy, ready for use in your home or place of business. The exposed wood details are gold gilt finished and include the legs. The arms/hand rests and the fleur de lis"crown" on the top of the backs. The backs of the chairs are curved to a rounded shape. This fine French Louis XVI Influenced Antique Side Chair exhibits the highly embellished qualities of the Aesthetic Movement furniture. Crafted during the last years of the 19th Century, probably c. 1880-1900, this piece is a difficult form to find- closely adhering to the neoclassical spirit of the Louis XVI style, it's strict lines are softened by the deep swooping crest rail and the curves of the square back legs. Flanking the crest rail on either side are floral bouquets carved of the solid. Not simply impressed in gesso, beneath raised flame finials at the corners. The frame is molded with overlapping scales along the front and repeating carved teeth along the sides, ... morethe apron likewise embellished with carved rosettes at each corner over fluted and turned legs that terminate in original caster feet. Item listed is a Beautiful RARE Antique Louis Hanson Barber Chair. The number 504 is engraved in this chair. I am not 100% sure what that means. But I did take a picture of it. This was made by the Louis Hanson Company in Chicago Illinois in the late 1890's to the early 1900's and there are not many of these that exist from the research I have done. This company and Louis Hanson has the reputation of making top of the line, quality chairs& furniture Louis Hanson was a Danish Immigrant who came to the United States and founded this company. You can Google antique barber chairs and find information on Louis Hanson. About the chair. This chair does recline but is missing the headrest and a footrest that attaches further out then the one you see pictured. These parts can be found. The porcelain is in EXCELLENT Condition in my opinion. ... moreIt does have a small chip in the porcelain where your legs would hang on the chair but it is not cracked. Easy fix. The base of the chair also has a crack in it but that is not porcelain. You can see pictures for all of the conditions. I am not sure if the leather has been previously restored. Most likely it has. It may be leather or naughayde on it. This chair needs some restoration as I previously stated with some if its issues. The hydraulics do work on this chair. The chair goes up and down and turns very easily. It is very heavy and difficult to ship so I am asking for local pickup only in the Minnesota area. It can be taken apart into 2 pieces which makes it a little easier to move and transport. I will sell to someone outside of Minnesota, but you need to figure out how to come and get it. Original Antique 18th c French Louis XV Period Chair
Original Antique 18th c French Louis XV Period Chair A fine. Antique 18th century, Louis XV armchair. This is a true period, 18th century French chair. As the caning needs to be redone, one has to use a bit of imagination to vision how beautiful it will be when properly finished. The back needs to be recanted and at some point in its history; the seat was added. However, the caning holes are still present and one could have the seat recaned as well or the seat and cushion could be reupholstered. However, the red velvet of the current cushion is still in very good condition if the new owner chose only to recant the back. Now on to the good stuff: The chair is excellently carved. One can see by the depth of the carving of the scrolling. The flowers at the chair rail, armrests and feet that a master carvers hand's were at work. The caning ... moreof the back still has its original wood pegs. Also, the chair was painted, circa 1950s, the celadon color. The color has patina at several points and it would look great if the color were left and the caning were replaced. It would look splendid and show the proper age that it has. As is the case with antique furniture. The underside of the seat supports are all rough cut wood and it has its original wooden joint pegs. It was not bothered to sand the underside of the chair's wood and this was a common practice with 18th century carpentry. Only what was visible was properly sanded. There is a chip to the front inner edge of the left armrest. Don't let the broken cane obstruct the beauty of this chair. A fine 18th century original; structurally in good condition. One could only replace the caning and have a beauty of a chair. Measurements: Seat height(not including cushion height) 15.7 inches. This Louis 20( or Louis XX) side chair is a prototype Philippe Starck in 1991 and produced in a very limited number around 1992-1993. It has an aluminum frame and rear legs. And single translucent blue polypropylene body. The Louis 20 was produced by Vitra in the 1990s in only a few opaque colors with matte finish(including black, green, blue, and red) Our translucent blue chair was made commissioned by the singer and producer, Pharrell Williams, and produced in a tiny edition believed to number only ten chairs. This is the only Louis 20 chair we have available. A black Louis 20 resides in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art( MOMA) in New York.
