You'd say"Fauteuil" They were probably manufactured after the second world war, and are made of solid walnut. The upholstery is fairly new, clean and no pet or smoking odors. The seats have springs are nicely firm. The backs have a slight"crunch" to them, which makes me think they have horsehair in there somewhere. Nice old school materials. The pieces have all the curves and cabriolets of this particular style, and have bits of floral-motif hand carving on the crest, the knees of the front legs, and the center of the skirt. They are solid and sturdy- I can see one joint that looks like it may have been re-glued. There are no repaired splits. There are two odd circular pits in the back of one of the legs- very shallow, and the size of a collar button. Other than that, magnifique! Shipping is FREE in the USA. So I have a vintage French bergere chair I would like to sell. This chair has great lines and is in very good condition. The upholstery is in excellent condition, as well as the cushion. It is also incredibly comfortable. Frame highlights include: scrolled carved arms, turned legs, 4 floral appliqués and a lovely curved cathedral style back. The chair also has a wonderful solid wood frame with impeccable details and fine lines. Its springs are intact, and this chair has incredible craftsmanship. NO RESERVE!! 1904 St Louis World Fair Hand Carved German Double Eagle Chair
45" H x 26" w x 24" D. According to the estate sellers. this carved mahogany chair was made in Germany and reputed to have been brought to the 1904 World's Fair by the German delegation to the fair. It would have been used in the German Pavilion on Art Hill for the duration of the fair. The story as told by the owner of this chair on how she acquired it, and what she was told of its history is: The owner lived for a number of years in St. Louis, Missouri where her husband worked for IBM. The owner found the chairs in the late 1960s on the back porch of an elderly couple named Sherman& Louise Merrit. The original leather seat and leather back cushion covers where deteriorated due to exposure, but the mahogany wood was in the same nearly perfect condition that you currently see. The Merrit's told the the owner that ... morethey had purchased the chairs from the German delegation of the 1904 World's Fair. The German's were in a rush to depart and were trying to quickly get rid of things that they could easily sell. The Merrits bought 2 chairs(one with arms and one w/o arms) from the Germans. The Merrits painted their names and the date(1906 I am told) on the bottom of the chairs. Since that time the seats/backs have been recovered and fabric conceals the area where the names and date are located.Although, we have no physical evidence of any kind to connect these chairs to the 1904 World's Fair; the owner is a very sincere reporter, and WorthPoint examined photos of the chairs stating: WorthPoint says, the theme and carvings on the chair fit the period.the wood is clearly hand-carved and the chair is clearly an antique. The story of the chair being sold by the German delegation to an American couple(in order to avoid the expense of shipping it back to germany) is quite believable. Selling of display fixtures to avoid re-shipping was done regularly. The German Pavilion was often heard by fair-goers before it was seen. Its beautiful dome contained a chime of bells that sounded each hour.

Vintage Deutsch Brothers Louis XV Chair DIY Project/Jackie O Style
First off all these Deutsch Bro. furniture are injection molded. The detail they got from this process was something you could never get from using wood. This means the frames do not chip or crack very often and will outlast multiple recovering's. The company was located in Chicago. And apparently closed sometime from 1920-1927 due to bankruptcy from a fire in their warehouse. It is later noted that the Deutsch Brothers were commissioned in 1961 by Jacquelyn Kennedy to design furniture in the Louis XV style for the East Room of the White House. If you look at the museum pictures her chair was very close in style to this one. Condition: The chair is in sound structural condition with age wear to finish of the frame. The satin quilted fabric has some staining and is washed out from years of sunshine. This as you can see would also need ... morenew webbing. The cushion has a hog hair pad cushion. This is a gorgeous chaise in the style of Louis the XV. I purchased it in an antique shop in Hudson New York and was told it was from to early 1900's. It is upholstered in a lovely blue floral fabric. The wood frame is cream with blue trim. It is in immaculate condition. The chaise is full length it measures about 52 inches long by 26 inches wide it is 31 inches high to top of the crest and to the top of the cushion it is 17 1/2 inches. I paid over $1200 for this chaise and am only selling it as I am downsizing. This chaise would look wonderful in a bedroom or living room. It is kept in a pet free and smoke free home. Missouri The address on the front of the card states 1314 Olive St. Which dates the photo in the 1890's. Excellent Condition- back is blank. ABOUT CABINET CARDS: Introduced in the United States by Matthew Brady. It was not until about 1870 that Cabinet Cards became available to the picture-hungry American public. And they continued to be sold until nearly 1900, and later in smaller quantities. The Cabinet Card was a large form of albumen photographic image mounted upon card stock that allowed a closer and better look at facial ... morefeatures. Scenery, clothes and accessories. The cards are typically sized about 6 1/2" x 4 1/4. There were some other specialty sizes. Such as the longer Imperial card, that are seen less often but do turn up in antique Victorian photo albums and collections. The Cabinet Card offered a superb display for the height of Victorian period fashion. Ladies in lovely bustle dresses could display every fancy detail in these new larger images. You will see women in hats covered in frills and fancies. Beautiful buttons on dresses, huge bustle skirts, elaborate jewelry including brooches and cameos and lockets. Beautifully Preserved Antique Framed Louis XV Bergere Style Chair. Frame is most likely Turn of the Century(1880's-1920's) w/ elaborate French style carvings on all 4 legs. Seat frame, and arms. Beautifully carved floral motif on front center of seat frame, with leaves extending horizontally towards the 2 front legs. The front Cabriole legs are adorned on top with swirling scrolls and finished on the base/feet with whorls. The sides of the 2 front legs are carved in a'la feuille godronnee' style(pieces of leaves or flowers that fold naturally) that continue up the leg connecting to the seat molding on the sides. The rear legs are carved identically to the front. The back molding has the same curved style, but does not have any carved motifs. The chair features French, Louis XV style and it is very ornate. The back and exterior seat are cane, with the cane in good condition. The large belt is designed to conceal the pot or bidet. It has an interesting, carved pattern which incorporates floral accents and acanthus"wings" The chair has cabriole legs and carved acanthus accents on the feet. The belt of the chair, as well as the seat, are contoured on the front profile. The seat is hinged with the hinges on the interior. The cane seat raises to reveal the wooden toilet seat. This seat also raises for access to the chamber pot. The belt of the chair extends on the front and side profiles. It is not present on ... morethe back profile as the bidet could be accessed here as well. The chair is finished in an antique white/cream with light splatters of dark brown. There are gilded accents on the carved sections and on the chair back. It do not know if the finish is original. The chair is old, around the turn of the century. The chair back is pieced at the arch/crown, not one piece as in more modern designs. The chair is very sturdy and it is heavy. It is in very good condition with some scuffs to the paint in a few areas. This listing is for the chair only as the pot is not present. This style is not commonly seen and rarely seen in this condition. This is a beautiful chair. The chair measures 38.25" tall. It is 21.5" wide and 22" front to back.
