Purchased from a local estate sale. This is a unique and rare wooden infant's high chair. Wood finish is turning into a nice patina with primitive wear marks from lots of loving use! Back of chair has a tole/ toleware style or Hitchcock style painted decoration, and appears to be from the 1930's-50's. Very old piece in nice shape for its age! Because the local estate this came from is located so close to Lancaster. PA, I do believe that is the likely origin of this old piece. The tole style painted portion looks very PA Dutch, which is another indication that it is in fact from that area, and may be an Amish or Mennonite piece. Local antiques that come from Lancaster County are either items owend by the Amish and Mennonite communities, or they were items made by Amish and Mennonite craftsmen. Eastlake- Hitchcock Style Description: This is a pair of antique Victorian shadow box picture frames that are an Eastlake-Hitchcock style. They measure approximately 14 1/8" tall. 12 1/8" wide, and 2 1/8" deep each. The glass panes measure approximately 9 3/4" long and 7 1/2" wide. The style"Eastlake" comes from Charles Locke Eastlake(1837-1901) who designed simple, yet beautiful frames in contrast with overly, ornate frames of the day. This frame is designed with different stepped layers that are alternately painted a lovely chocolate brown and gold. These wood carved, gold gilt frames are absolutely magnificent and would add warmth and beauty to any room. Condition: These antique frames are knicked and scratched in various ... moreareas. Especially around the edges. Some of the gold paint has chipped away. They have been wiped down, but you may want to clean them yourself. Vintage Cherry Table with 3 Leaves Hitchcock?
Vintage Cherry Table with 3 Leaves Hitchcock? Here is a great table for your buying consideration. The Hitchcock chairs shown in the pics are not for sale. Only the cherry table with the three leaves. I recently acquired the table at an auction. And remember. There is never any sales tax to our US customers as we live in Delaware, the home of tax free shopping! I think the cherry table is a Hitchcock. But no markings on it that specifically say that. The graining of the wood is just beautiful. Some scratches to the table, but no cracks or splits. The one scratch on main table along side is 1" long. Some scratching on the 3 leaves as well. The bottom of the legs of the table certainly show the typical wear and tear from use. I did find similar tables online that were Hitchcock and has the same legs on them, but had stencils on the top ... moreof the table. Found other tables with black painted legs and exposed cherry top with no stencils on them. Hitchcock made so many versions, so hard to say. The staples are there on the table and leaves where I think the Hitchcock tags were. You need to be the judge about the maker of the table before acquiring it. The cherry table is 42" across with no leaves in it. Each leaf is 12" wide. So table is 72" long with all three leaves in place(a little unevenness at the molding edge when all leaves in place) The table top is 28.75" from the floor. I would guess that this table is from the early to mid-60s, but again you be the judge. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Make sure that this item meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned. But there is a $30 restocking fee to do so. So again. Hitchcock Style Painted late 1800's Antique Rocking Bench. A rocking bench from the mid to late 1800's was hand crafted in traditional Connecticut"Hitchcock" style. The well worn finish has stenciling and striping. The antique character has been preserved with a coat of clear lacquer. Hand planing marks are visible everywhere. Arms are maple. Joints have hand cut wooden pegs on this strong and durable American country furniture. Runners were flattened a little on the bottom as shown, but this rocker bench still rocks comfortably. Compact when the leaves are dropped, the table opens up to a nice entertaining size when the leaves are up. Both leaves have a beautiful Hitchcock paint pattern, and all 6 accompanying chairs are two-toned in black and wood, with a wonderful matching Hitchcock paint design! MADE IN 1960'S IN UNITED STATES/ RIVERTON.CT Actual measurements are 39 3/4" tall by 59 3/4" long. It is 23 1/2" wide with the drops down. 40 3/4" wide with both drops up. Drops are held up by a pair of boards that swivel out on either side and they butt against a tapered rail to snug up. If you look at my picture showing the edges straight across you can see there is still a little angle left at the end of the table. You can get most of it out by forcing the boards up tighter on the wedge. Table could use a coat of wax but the finish is still pretty nice and nothing is chipped,cracked broken or deeply scratched. Table is signed, sound and solid with no wobble. I have disassembled it now for transport/packing/storage. ... moreThe legs reattach with one wing nut bolt and the leaves reattach with lots of small philips screws. We used a screw gun to take it apart and got it apart in under 5 minutes. To reassemble lay it on a nice thick blanket or carpet upside down and line your drops up then just put the hinges in place and screw them down. Antique Signed Hitchcock Watertown NY Mechanical Kerosene Lamp
An original antique patent dated 18 Hitchcock mechanical lamp made in Watertown New York. The kerosene lamp which measures approximately 12 1/2" tall is made of brass and has a wind up mechanism inside the standard which can be would via a attached key from the underside of the base. The purpose of the mechanism which is like a fan is to pull air in up through the shaft to facilitate a better brighter more evenly burning flame. Condition- the burner cap has some splitting as typical and the very edge of the top cover lid has a few places where there is the short beginnings of splitting. One of the small brass screws which secures the mechanism in place has been lost but should be easy to replace. I wouldn’t call it splitting exactly but if you run your hand over the smooth seat you will feel a very slight bump that is a miniscule fraction raised. A professional could fix this however I don’t think it’s worth messing with. It’s not unsightly or very noticeable and it does not pinch the skin and you shouldn’t notice that the seat wasn’t smooth if you sat on it. It also doesn’t have any rough edges that would snag your clothing. It’s really insignificant(in my opinion) and I highly doubt anyone would notice it visually unless they were looking for it. Arm rests have carved claw or paw design and have slight wear to them. Backrest has a nautical or rope stencil pattern. Looks like maple wood but not sure. Chair is in very good used condition. There is a little paint wear on some of the edges this does not detract from the overall beauty of the chair. Chair has yellow paint on it. Vintage Black Harvest Adult Rocking chair made of solid maple from Hitchcock factory. I believe this piece dates from the 1950's This Rocking Chair has had no repairs and is intact. Signs of age are wear on the bottom of the rockers as shown in the photos and several minor indentations on seat consistent with gently used vintage furniture. The rocker was an accent piece and was always placed in the corner of a room in combination with the matching dresser and twin headboards( available in a separate auction) All belonged to my grandfather who passed away at 98 and were cottage furniture so saw minimal use.
