In overall very good condition with just a couple of very small scuffs and marks here and there in keeping with their age but nothing noticable. please see photos) A stunning chair- total classic. Very collectable which would brighten up any room. The seat and base will be dismantled for safer shipping but can be bought fully assembled if so desired- please message. Through description and photos I'm trying to describe all flaws although the chairs are overall in good condition and will be very nice with a good clean up and polish. Chair#1. Shell has no chips. Holes or cracks. Minimal edgewear/light scuffs. See photo of bottom. Back has raised Herman Miller logo, stamped number and also embossed letter"B" Chair#2. Shell has no holes or cracks. There is a 1/2" scuff/nick along edge of chair(viewer's right) near top. Shown with blue stickie. It is not quite a chip but you can feel that the edge is rough in that spot and see it if you look. Otherwise, light scuffing and wear along edges. Back has raised Herman Miller logo, stamped number and also embossed letter"B" Chair#3. Shell has no holes or splits. There are some spots where color is faded/discolored.see photo. One squarish spot is noticeable. Where the seat meets the back(see blue sticky with arrow) and then there are some more minimally faded areas on the upper half. Edge is scuffed and slightly cracked at top left edge of chair. It is not broken and the area is completely sturdy. On the top right back edge there is a shallow crack that does not go through chair or affect sturdiness. It is not very noticeable but can be felt when running hand along edge. These two issues are pictured below in close-up. Otherwise, chair#3 has minimal scuffing and wear along edges. Up for bidding is this matched pair of vintage Herman Miller shell chairs in really clean condition. These Eames classic are greige in color with nice uniform fiber content and good lustre. Fiberglass in excellent condition showing minor scratching and a few rubs but no cracks or chips and virtually no edgewear- age unknown. Vintage Herman Miller Shell Chair / Mid Century Modern Ochre Light?
Classic Herman Miller Shell chair. Not sure of the color. Maybe Ocher Light? It is sort of a brown mustard in color. This chair has been used, see photo where the scratches are. Someone has converted it from a wide beam to a narrow beam, I do have the base. Someone has also glued the black rubber like cushions to the bottom of the seat, see photo. There are no crack or chips to the shell. The sell is approx. 5lbs and the with the base It is approx.8-9lbs. These pictures were taken outside in bright light to get the best clarity. They will not be as shiny in a darker environment. The edges are in great shape and there are no cracks. Mid Century Modern Herman Miller Padded Shell Chair with original label
I have lots of Mid Century listed and more on the way. This is a great chair everyone knows who Herman Miller is this is the padded arm chair it is a bit unusual not only is it padded but also has material on the seat area instead of all padding. it is in good condition but has wear you would expect from an original that hasn't been restored some minor splits but nothing bad. Im sure the seat material could be cleaned but I just sell them as I find them. It is solid I weigh 245 and it held me fine and is very comfy this is a great design. The color will look great in any home or office. the logo is molded into the bottom and it also has an original paper label dated November 1971. I took 2 pics of the logo because first had good color but hard to see and second easy to see but looks very dull. There is also a C with a star inside it molded ... moreabove the Howard Miller logo not sure what that means but maybe stands for star company which eventually became Howard Miller.

HISTORY: Up for auction is a vintage Eames Herman Miller DSX( D ining or desk height) side chair with molded fiberglass shell in red orange color and zinc plated" H" base. The auction is for chair# 1 from the matching pair. The chair was designed by Charles Eames and manufactured by the Herman Miller Furniture Company. The shell rests on an zinc plated"wall protective" 4 legged" H" base complete with 4 original white self-leveling plastic glides. The base extends further out in the rear so the shell edge does not rub the wall. The chair is known for it's comfort and durability. The shell is produced from fiberglass-reinforced plastic. Originally. The fiberglass was being used during the war to reinforce plastic on airplane radar domes. In according to the Eames fiberglass contract shell colors catalogue, ... morethis color was specified as RO(Red Orange) The fiberglass shell has the narrow shock mounts configuration. This very 60's color is one of the most desirable and popular colors of the Eames fiberglass shells. CONDITION REPORT: This chair is in very good for its age vintage condition. The shell is clean. Displays fiber very nicely and still retains it's original gleaming luster. The color is vivid and bright with no fading. Some very min. wear to the edge and surface of the shell(scratching, small nicks) Nothing major but we have to mention this for the accuracy of the description. Looks very nice! The original gel coating is intact. The small shock mounts are in good original condition with no"bleeding" and have NOT been re-glued. The chair has many authentic marking including rare Z(for Zenith Plastics) Herman Miller raised logo. Selling 3 Eames Herman Miller fiberglass shell chairs without bases. Excellent vintage condition. No major dings. Normal condition related to being from mid century but nothing terrible. Far better condition than most Eames chairs on ebay. Comes with shock mounts. Bases available for $15. Shipping for shells only will be $52. Wide mount setup but I could set up narrow mounts for a fee. Here is a 1st generation{1951-53} Charles and Ray Eames designed fiberglass armchair w/ original checkerboard decal. The color is Salmon. The first and last photos are shot oudoors when cloudy. Under incandescent lighting indoors. The chairs appear to be more orange(photos#2-23) This auction is for chair#2 of a pair that have always been together{from a Chicago Mid Century estate} and are both currently being auctioned. General wear. Scuffs, etc. No chips to to edges of shell. There is a crack ... morein the fiberglass on the front right corner. It is tight and stable. Subtle darkened rings from shockmount epoxy bleed through. On the front shocks{please see photo with pointer-not as dark as chair#1} Color varies depending upon the amount of exposed fiberglass fibers during manufacturing and general wear. Some areas of the fiberglass display wear- armrests. Edges, etc. Original large rubber shock mounts are in good condition. Original X-bases and feet are good with original paint/finish wear to legs, and some rust/rubber cracking at feet. These two chairs were found disassembled without original screws and washers when acquired. New washers and correct reproduction early Zenith screws have been provided. The chairs will be disassembled for shipping purposes and a large headed Phillips screwdriver will be necessary for buyer to reassemble. 2 Early Eames fiberglass armchairs. The chairs date back to 1953 and show signs of wear. The chairs are without cracks and/or breaks in the shell. However, the chairs were painted some time in their history, and have paint residue throughout. The bases show a lot of wear from age. I have a total of three of these armchairs all in similar condition. The remaining chair is listed seperately. I wll gladly combine shipping on the chairs, especially if the bases are unwanted. This auction is a relist. While dismantling the chairs for shipping. Many of the original screws were broken in the process due to their age. One of the mounts came off in the process and is connected to the base. The chairs are as shown in the picture except for these aforementioned issues. Early Eames fiberglass armchair. The chair dates back to 1953 and shows signs of wear. The chair is without cracks and/or breaks in the shell. However, the shell is worn. There are also 2 small drill(holes in the shells base. The base shows major signs of age-the glides are missing and there is some surface rust accumulated on and around the screws.
