We are pleased to offer this iconic 1st production Charles Eames designed Herman Miller/ Zenith Plastics rope edge arm rocker discovered recently in a local estate. This molded fiberglass shell rocker is referred to as Lemon Yellow(LY) The base of the rocker is the zinc tower design with birch rockers. It has vibrant color and outstanding fiber patterns. It has the coin shaped mold release imprint inside the bucket seat. Its my understanding that this can only be found on the 1949. First production of Zenith produced chair shells. The zinc rod base shows signs of oxidation. One rod shows a slight bend and a possible reweld. The hardware is all original and intact. The'checkerboard' HM manufactures label is intact and in ... moregreat condition. The birch runners show use as well. There is a one inch crack in the bend of the right arm. There are also a couple of transfer scuffs that could be removed but I will leave that to you. Please see photos for a better idea of condition. Its still a terrific rocker that will make a great addition to any collection of mid century design. Note* The chair measures 27" tall to the top of the backrest. 25" wide and 16" to the seat height. Eames Mid Modern Butterscotch Fiberglass Arm Chair Knoll Saarenin Herman Miller
Your bid is for this fantastic Mid Century Modern Fiberglass Arm Chair on a Swivel Propeller Style Base. It is a butterscotch/ochre color with an upholstered seat bottom in a similar tweed pattern color. It measures approximately 30.5" to the top. With a seat height of 17.5" is 25" across the front arms, 21.5" inside and is 22" deep. It is in very good cosmetic and working condition for its age, with only a couple of small blemishes to the shell shown in close-ups. The swivel base is sturdy and the chrome is good except for one small 1/4" rust spot, also shown in a close-up. Not sure who the maker is and I cannot find any definitive marking that would identify the manufacturer. There is an ink stamped number 12899 under a piece of tape on the bottom of the shell, which might help in attribution. It is of very ... moregood quality and rivals anything on the eBay. This would make a great addition to any Mid Century Modern decor. I will ship this chair for FREE if the Buy it Now option is used. I will respect your wish on any type of payment method. For your consideration is an Authentic Vintage Charles& Ray Eames for Herman Miller Fiberglass Side Shell Chair! It's a Light Elephant Hide Grey and in overall very nice vintage condition as you can see. No real edge chips or cracks. Does have a couple scuffs or so as shown, but overall very nice as you can see. It is missing one screw, but I do have a donor piece that I am going to take a screw from, so it will ship with all 4 original HM screws. Is also has one broken glide on the base, which can be replaced if you intend on using the existing base, which has not been cleaned in any way either. Very clean set of 7 Charles Eames Fiberglass Side Chair Shells for Herman Miller in a vibrant bright orange. Beautiful examples of mid-century modern design at it's finest. These were recently unearthed from a boarding school where they were attached to a metal row. Which is why I don't have the bases. Original rubber mounts are in place though, so these will work with the base of your choice. The shells are in very good condition considering the age, with only minor scuffs and wear on a few of the chairs. One out of the seven does have a crack in the seat where the post was attached. So this is 6 in very good condition, one in fair condition. 2 of the chairs are a slightly lighter shade of orange. Please note that you're bidding on two Shells only. A great restoration project for a pair of these historic chairs. These chairs were designed by Charles Eames and manufactured by the Herman Miller Furniture Company and Zenith Plastic Co. in Venice California in the 1950's. When held under the light. The shells appears to glow. The shells have the large shock mounts, but the rope edge was no longer in production. Condition: The shells have no chipping and great fibers and all the sock-mounts still soft and stable. I will try my best to describe each flaws. Chair 1: This chair have what appears to be a crack forming at the bottom. Near one of the shock mounts. However, it was either repaired or have not fully cracked because the structure still holds and sturdy. Aside from that there are no other cracks or chipping. I am the original owner of these RARE beautiful 1984 authentic vintage classic Herman Miller Eames Sofas. They were designed by Charles and Ray Eames. These are a great complement to the classic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman. I am a GREAT GRANDSON of Herman Miller who worked at Herman Miller as a product engineer from 1978 to 1985. These RARE sofas are from the pre-production manufacturing engineering run at Herman Miller in 1984. All have been in storage since 1984 and never used. I have one walnut and at least one teak ES108 three seat version. I have a second teak three seat version that may become available if a potential buyer does not pick it up. All have RARE medium tone powder coated aluminum legs and arms instead of the normal polished aluminum. They can be stripped and re-polished if you want the normal polished aluminum look. The medium tone color is very RARE and great for those who want something different from the polished aluminum look that may fit into an existing living room or reception area better. Excellent vintage condition with the iconic Zenith Herman Miller Eames full checkerboard label still intact. Very fibrous armshell with the fiberglass threads beautifully visible. As you can see. Large. Hockey puck shock mounts, and original X-base with all glides(I believe these are the domes of silence glides) present. Amazing shape for a chair that's over 60 years old. Recently acquired from a filmmaker with an impressive Eames and mid century modern collection. Exhibits age-appropriate wear.
