Check out my! Be sure to add me to your! I'm listing this absolutely gorgeous antique round butter dish in the Chippendale pattern by Ohio Flint Glass. This dish dates to approximately 1904. And is flint glass. This type of glass was also called Krys Tol. It is exceptionally clear and brilliant glass that has a sparkling appearance. This particular glass is heavy and thick, which you will see in the pictures. Other than a minor surface scratch in a few places, this butter dish is in excellent conditon. There is relatively minimal loss of the gold overlay, and I would have to say that the overlay is in excellent condition for the years in service. ... moreThe bottom of the dish has a scalloped edge outlined with a gold overlay. The bottom is ground and polished. And has a flat rim. The top consists of panels from the bottom of the cover to the top, each being rounded at one end. A pointed finial acts as the handle. Gold overlay adorns the cover also. Measurements are a 7" diameter of the base, and 5 1/2" high from bottom to top of the finial. You will see in the pictures that the'sparkle' of this glass is phenomenal! This is a show piece! I am more than happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases. Wonderful shapely scalloped skirt, six detailed cabriole high-style ball and claw Chippendale legs, and round drop leaves that are 19.5 inches wide. The overall size when opened with the leaves up and the insert leaf is used is 72 inches wide, 42 inches deep, and 30 inches high. When the two legs are flipped in, the leaves are dropped and the center leaf is removed, the table closes up to measure 24 inches wide, which allows this table to be easily put aside until it is needed. When you want to use it, you just put the center leaf in, flip the side leaves up, swing out the gate-leg ball and claw feet, and you’ve got one nice, functional table that will accommodate six chairs. I believe these to be American from the owners I purchased them from. It was a wonderful estate sale and the previous owners were collectors and the chairs came from Conneticut. The early New England chairs represented the English made ones; however that is where the English resided.so it's anyone's guess. Despite that.these are very old. The chairs are sturdy. I see no splits in any of their construction. See the picture of the inside of the seat where I believe they could have had these new shapely blocks put in them in the 1800s for more support. The entire chair is handmade and handcarved. Please see the top of ... moreone of the ears, where it looks like it lost a little top edge(extremely minimal) and someone filed it down smoothly(very old filing) It is hardly worth mentioning, but for purists I wish to be as exact as I possibly can. It is not even noticable.but I have to mention it and if that is the worst thing one can criticize for their age.that's pretty doggone good. These are authentic period antiques. Now. Size is wonderful. The seat is so ample and wide being 21" across the front and goes 18 1/4" deep. The legs are thick and strong, see pics how they hand carved them. The back and splats are all intact and comfortable. From ear to ear on top it is 21" wide. The height on the back from floor is 38" Very pretty blue leather seats with NO rips. I was told that they are English and called Chinese Chippendale and that they are from the 1920's& 1930's and that they were very popular. The buffet measures 65" x 35 x 21" deep, the server measures 40" x 32 x 19 deep. The table measures 61" x 40" without the leaf. There is one 12" leaf that is self storing under the table. One chair had been repaired before I purchased the set. There is normal wear and dings but overall the wood grain is very beautiful and it is a stunning set. This is an unusual piece in that the gravy boat and the bottom tray are attached as a single piece. This would be a great piece to add to your collection if you do not have one. But it could be depression glass. It is 6 1/2" x 2 3/4" including the handles. The bowl is 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" There is crack on the interior of the rim. It appears that someone smoothed the rim there are one point. I'm not sure if that is what caused the crack. It was there when I purchased it. Pennsylvania Item# 130401YYR21 This is a simply outstanding work of art- an American Chippendale Period Tall Case Grandfather Clock from Pennsylvania. This clock was crafted by clockmaker Jacob Diehl of Berks County, Pennsylvania. Born in 1776, Diehl was active in 1798 when he took over the shop of Daniel Rose, one of the most famous clockmakers of Reading in the period. He operated that shop until 1804 in the absence of Rose, after which he worked alone. Two examples of his work are preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City(accession numbers 1980.458& 1976.279) One of these described at length in the publication Notable Acquisitions. 1980-81. Metropolitan Museum of Art(New York, NY) ... moreThis example conforms closely to the overall form of the aforementioned example(1976.279) Giving good insight into how the finials originally would have looked prior to the current replacements. It is a very fine piece, well preserved in every way and retaining originality in almost every aspect of the clock and case. The enameled dial is a fine work with a painted rocking-ship moon phase beneath an arabic numeral calendar of 1-29(1/2) days, peaking out over two carefully detailed globes of the earth, the spandrels of the clock very crisp and bright floral works with gilt gold dots lining the arabic numeral hour dial beneath very fine pierced hour and minute hands; Jacob Diehl, Reading" is painted at the center of the dial. The broken arch hood curls in unusual"blank" rosettes. These flanked by fluted pilasters supporting the replaced finials over a projecting crown molding. The glass pane is fully original, still retaining the wavy character cherished in period glass, framed carefully in a through-tenon mortised door swinging on original pinned hinges. American Chippendale Walnut Drop Leaf Dining Table. Pennsylvania or Delaware c. 1760-80 Probably Delaware River Valley. Originally One of a Pair Straight Marlborough Legs Item# 130002IWT18 The drop leaf dining table was a very prominent form in homes of the higher classes during the Chippendale and Federal periods. A working solution to the problem of balancing space with flexibility in a home that entertained company regularly. It allowed for tables to be posed as pier or serving tables against the wall, making the room large and inviting during a social engagement, these being brought out as needed to recreate a dining room. This table was almost certainly part of a pair originally. Two sets of bracket holes on one leaf evidence of clasps that would have attached to the leaves of the other table to create a solid surface. A pair of tables ... morevery similar in form, though crafted with solid board leaves, was offered at Christies in 2003( Lot 322. Sale 1189, sold as a pair for $13,145) Intact pairs of this form are rather uncommon as these were regularly broken up as they were passed down in families. The top is crafted of five boards butt-jointed with tongue-in-groove joinery assisting in all but one leaf. This probably a later solution to the uneven shrinking of the boards, secured from the underside with butterfly dovetails. The leaves hang over ruled joints, lifting on two swinging gate legs, the frame and knuckle crafted of solid oak double pinned to the square Marlborough leg. The oak rails are affixed with scattered rosehead nails to the poplar frame rails coupled with one original hand filed screw set in wells into the top on both sides, these boards joined to the mahogany front and back rails with exposed dovetails behind the gate legs. Three dovetailed walnut braces join the frame to the top, these absent several screws, the top likewise secured with three hand filed screws set evenly in wells through the mahogany front and back rails. An extremely fine hand carved solid mahogany chair. This piece represents the amazing skills of the craftsman of the period. This chair is approximately 120 years old. The condition is indicative of the care this chair has received. The back. Seat and arm upholstery has been replaced with a 1940's style white& green floral brocade fabric. There are areas where the fabric has faded from the chair being placed near a window. The upper portion of the arms is covered in matching upholstery. The front skirt and side skirts boast finely carved medallion with acanthus scrolls flanked on either side by a detailed squared off areas containing flowers and diamond cross motifs. Presenting an antique carved walnut wooden footstool in the Chippendale style with a neat needlepoint upholstery on the top. It reads"Travel East. Travel West, After All- Home is Best" along with a very attractive stagecoach scene. It m easures 12" by 14" and 5 3/4" tall. The needlepoint is in good condition with no rips or tears. There are two frayed threads on the outer edge and a few light stains that I did not try to clean. I have shown the worst side of the stool in most of the photos. The stool does need some work. Two of the feet have a thin sliver or strip(about 1/8" thick) gouged from them. One foot has a small chip on the edge. And there is one old age fissure in the wood just above ... moreone foot. See all of the photos for close-ups of the described damage. The stool still displays quite well even with the damage to the feet. It sounds worse than it looks. Pictures were taken with and without a flash to best illustrate the true color and details. Any white or bright spots are light reflections. SHIPPING: I charge the actual shipping cost only. Pegged Tenon-Mortise Joinery Item# 130103AKP22 This is a very fine set of Early 20th Century Set of Eight English Chippendale Style Ball and Claw Foot Antique Dining Chairs. Crafted of solid mahogany with utmost precision. Each chair is crested by an anthemion carved form with upward flared carved ears, the stiles tenoned and pegged into the crest at each ear. The pierced vasiform splat is a work of art, the loose design of flowing acanthus foliage surrounding a tiny bellflower raised carving at the center of the splat, this tenoned into the crest rail in three places and based inside of the solid shoe. All seats retain a very fine upholstery over the trapezoidal slip seats, the shape conforming to the serpentine form of the chair apron, this resting ... moreover cabriole front legs with heavily carved acanthus knees, each terminating in crisply carved ball and claw feet. While the Chippendale Style is still produced even to this day. Few reproductions match the robust nature of forms crafted during the early years of the 20th Century. The taste of the Centennial period resulted in consumer demand for a level of craftsmanship in reproductions of the 18th Century forms that is collectable in it's own right. These chairs are carved exquisitely and joined meticulously, each joint a pinned or double pinned tenon-mortise, resulting in outstanding strength and condition to this day. This lot includes 2 PULLS Chippendale/bat wings made of METAL. THEY LOOKS LIKE AGED BRASS BUT NOT&A MAGNET DOES NOT STICK TO THEM. They measure 3 3/4" X 2 1/2" APPROX 3" between the holes.
