Antique Miniature 19th Century Bronze Tilt Top Game Table Chippendale / Federal
Here is a very unusual miniature antique table. When we see antique miniature furniture the items are almost always wood. But this little table is bronze. Or possible copper or brass; the patina is such that I cannot tell for sure, but a magnet will not stick to it. The table stands 6.5" high with the top in the up tilted position, and the table top measures approx. 4.25" across. The top looks like an inlaid chess table. We believe the table to be English and dates to the first quarter of the 19th century We purchased this miniature table several years ago. When we had an antiques shop, from a customer who became a very dear friend. She was an older lady who had collected American furniture and folk art for 40+ years, buying many of her items from established antiques dealers in New England. Wonderful pair of EARLY Chippendale style chairs.this is far from my area of expertise. But after doing a little research, I think these may be original to that period. There are certain little attributes that seem to show that the chairs were made by hand. Please see the photos for a better description! Plenty of wear and tear. This is a fine Chinese chippendale camelback sofa circa 1880-1920. It is upholstered in a beautiful red fabric. The fabric was on the sofa when I bought it so it is not freshly upholstered but is in very good condition. The wood trim is a nice dark rich finish. The trim has a few nicks from age but is structurally sound and tight. The straight leg frame has nice carving detail. The sofa is a good size. It measures 60" wide at the feet. 66" wide at the back, and 68" wide at the arms. It stands 38 1/2" high at the camelback. The sofa is 25" deep overall and the sitting area is 20" deep. American Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1779 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip poplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked ... morepaint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. While the 18th Century blanket chest is a very prevalent form. These are regularly refinished and rarely retain the original oxidized surface- even fewer also retain numerous matched inscriptions, dated and with some prior ownership inscribed on the interior. Well preserved in every way, this piece is untouched for the most part, of a desirable medium size and sturdy and strong in every way. These are incredibly useful in any colonial setting, at the foot of the bed as originally prescribed, between two arm chairs

American Chippendale Period Walnut Diminutive Chest of Drawers Possibly of Southern origin Late 18th Century Item# 130102RIG18 This is a very interesting early work of American craftsmanship- an American Chippendale Chest of Drawers. Crafted with diminutive proportions during the fourth quarter of the 18th Century. It features a single solid board top attached to the case with pegs along the rim, this projecting lightly over a distinctive reeded molding wrapping around the three sides. Chamfered columns flank either side of three graduated drawers with molded lips, each with replaced brasses and original locks(top drawer lock is period, we believe it to be original, but it might be a replacement) The sides of the case are likewise solid walnut planks, these almost certainly joining to the bottom of the case with horizontal nails hidden by ... morethe molding- naturally, we have not removed the molding to verify this, but this presence of nailed joinery is evident throughout the case coupled with a lack of dovetails on the bottom board. The backboards are undisturbed yellow pine attached with rosehead nails. The drawer joinery is consistent in the top two drawers. Slightly varied at the back of the bottom drawer. This variation would typically suggest an alteration or rebuilding. But in this instance it does appear to have been crafted as such originally: Top drawer- a yellow pine drawer bottom deeply chamfered to rabbet into the poplar drawer sides. The bottom nailed to the poplar back board with a neat row of four nails; front dovetails are nailed from the sides, rear dovetails are nailed from the back. Middle drawer- a poplar drawer bottom is deeply chamfered to rabbet into the yellow pine drawer sides. The bottom nailed to the poplar back board with a neat row of four nails; front dovetails are nailed from the sides, rear dovetails are nailed from the back. English Chippendale Mahogany Carved Ball and Claw Foot Game Table Late 18th Century. Circa 1790 Item# 130002IRP01 This is a wonderful English Chippendale Period Carved Ball and Claw Foot Antique Game Table. Late 18th Century c. 1790. It is a piece upon which no expense was spared in the production. As every design embellishment commonly associated with the period was executed on this piece. The mahogany top has a nailed quarter-round rim applied on both levels, opening on original brass hinges and untouched screws to reveal a replaced felt surface bordered by mahogany. It projects softly over the frame. This being covered in vertically grained mahogany veneers not just on the front and on the sides, but also along the entire back. This added expense of finishing the back leg surfaces and adding the thick veneers is typically superfluous and ... moreconsidered unnecessary, as the table would remain against the wall- this detail certainly hints this was a commissioned piece for a home of means. The frame is dovetailed pine, as evident when opening the rear gating-leg, the drawer blades likewise dovetailed on either side as they stretch horizontally beneath and above the drawer. The facade of the table has a single broad drawer in the center. The edges framed in tacked cockbead molding(absent on the right side) around the dovetailed oak secondary woods, the bottom crafted of five untouched oak boards nailed perpendicular to the face. The cast brass bail pull handle is absolutely gorgeous, an entirely original and entirely hand forged work of art still retaining it's original backplates, pins and nuts. The underside of the apron has applied gadrooned molding. Nailed every few inches from beneath with short iron nails, carved to match up with the outward flowing acanthus scrolls of the knee returns. The workmanship in the carved knees is exacting, the crisp flowing rococo lines simply sprawling over the sharp knees and down the leg as a natural outgrowth from the gadrooning. American Chippendale Mahogany Pie Crust Table. Possibly Southern States Last quarter of the 18th Century. Hairy Paw Ball and Claw Feet Item# 130101RQY27 This is an American Chippendale Period Mahogany Pie Crust Birdcage Tea Table. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century. Possibly in the Southern States. The bold turned baluster relates to many forms seen along coastal North Carolina. Though it is a difficult piece to attribute with any certainty as similar works are also found in Philadelphia. More research would be necessary to attribute the piece with any authority. A very handsome work. The top is crafted from a single board of mahogany, a broad piece measuring an immense 37 1/16" x 36 3/8" It's sharp and well formed rim is carved of the solid, and from all appearances seems to have been sunk by hand rather than ... moreby turning, the craftsman planing this board until the outer inches of the rim remained upraised. These would then be carved and chiseled until they took on the form you now see. This is a highly labor intensive process and is more generally seen from shops with lower volume of production. We believe this table was probably in rough shape at one point in it's not so distant past. A condition that required the restorer to take apart the birdcage(note the alterations to the birdcage) remove the old rails and replace them and restore the cracking and loss around the base where the legs join the pedestal. As a result, it is difficult to be certain that the top truly is original to the table, though we do believe it is after closely examining it. The slideshow has many close up pictures that will allow you to determine that for yourself. The birdcage mechanism allows the table to swing freely. A small wedge-tenon sliding into the crevice in the top of the pedestal to lock the entire device in place. The pedestal is bold with a wonderful swollen baluster over the tri-form legs, these joining directly into the base in broad dovetail joints from the underside, locked in place with

This early American Chippendale hand painted toleware metal tray or platter has a black painted background with gold painted floral accents. It has naturally aged crazing with hints of greens. Browns& ambers mixed amoung the leaves& vines. The tray measures 14"x10 3/4" and is in great naturally aged condition with aged imperfections such as crazing, small scratches and dings here& there with little paint loss. This has been in the family since early 1950's, and was purchased new at the time from Higgins Furniture Store in downtown Orange, which was very high end at the time. My Mom just can't remember exact year of make. This is a very solid piece of furniture, in excellent condition. This is two units, a lowboy with matching highboy, fitting perfectly together. English George III Chippendale Bookcase Secretary Desk Late 18th Century with Modern Alterations. C. 1780-1800 Item# 130001KSH27 This is a very attractive English George III Chippendale Antique Secretary Desk. Originally crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century and altered during the first quarter of the 20th Century. It was probably a more plain version of the rather fine piece we see today. Altered to suit the appetite for high-style pieces during the first quarter of the 20th Century. Crafted of mahogany veneers with pine and oak secondaries, the case features two over three graduated drawers with replaced brasses over bold oversized bracket feet. The slant front drops over original hinges to rest on extending lopers, revealing a large mahogany writing surface with six document drawers over two long-thin drawers flanked on either ... moreside by an inverted graduated stack of drawers- this is a rather unusual feature, the graduation going from largest on the top to smallest on the bottom. It is crafted in two parts, the upper bookcase with adjustable shelves and glazed glass doors under a projecting crown and dentil molding. A visually interesting and desirable piece. Though not suited for collector tastes due to the alterations, this is a wonderful period secretary desk with a deep patination throughout giving it fine character. Fine English Chippendale Mahogany Kneehole Desk c. 1740-60 Originality preserved throughout in the hardware and feet- Only the desk is being offered in this listing. The chair shown is offered elsewhere in our collection Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably preserved English Chippendale Period Kneehole Desk. Circa 1740-50. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk, just solid boards of full grain mahogany. A simply molded edge runs the perimeter of the top, each corner scalloped. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers are fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Glowing hand forged brass hardware ... moreadorns each drawer. Appearing to have never been removed from the piece. Inside each drawer, as well as the tiny door in the kneehole area, silver metal locks are secured and functional. Each lock appears to be original, each uniquely cut on the right hand corner for all small drawers- it would appear the craftsman was presented with the challenge of making the lock of his choice fit the small space in conjunction with the pull hardware, and overcame this but cutting the corners of each lock. Hand made screws are visible throughout the lock hardware. While we cannot say for certain if the key is original, it is of the period, hand made and very similar in metal color to that of the locks. Each drawer is lip-molded and slides flawlessly in and out of the desk. Just below the top drawer is a secret drawer compartment. Appearing to be part of the frame design, but actually pulls outward smoothly as an extra hand dovetailed drawer. This is a unique addition for the craftsman to make, as many of these knee hole desks are without such innovations. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. Fantastic Chippendale Style Walnut Drop Front Secretary Desk Very Very Nice
This listing is for a Fantastic Chippendale Style walnut( I think and am not 100% sure) and fancily veneered vintage Drop Front Secretary Desk with Ball and claw Feet and shell style carvings. 36 inches in overall height. About 16 inches overall depth at widest point of legs and 22 inches overall width again at widest point of legs. Brass lock and hardware but no key. Brass hinges and other hardware. Exotic veneer work. Two drawers. With hardware on one drawer broken and missing in part. Should not be very tough to find replacement hardware. I might be able to assist the buyer in doing so. Drop down door reveals a writing surface roughly 19 inches wide and 14 inches in depth with two drawers and 5 compartments worked in the back. Very elegant. Most definitely made by one of better furniture makers. Spray Stamped"546 Desk" in black ... moreon the underside. Manufacturer unknown. In Great vintage condition.There is a small chip on the back corner, approx 3/8 of an inch, that is not noticeable to the naked eye. there are few very small surface scuffs here and there, maybe 10 to 12 at maximum none bigger then 1 or 2 mm by2to4mm all of which should be easily touched up to an invisible. When desk is closed there appears to be what looks like a surface burn mark which I am not sure if it actually is a surface burn mark or part of the grain as no damage can be observed under magnification. I usually post many more images on my listing than the 12 listed on eBay gallery which only will be visible to individuals on classic eBay site. Antique country Chippendale school master's desk. Pine wood has been stained a deep reddish color and has a beautiful aged patina. Lift-top/ slant-top writing surface with storage area beneath sits atop a single. Long drawer. Brass willow mount escutcheons and drawer pulls with bail handles. Fine dovetail joints on drawer as well as on the corners of the top half. The piece sits on tapered square legs. This classic piece dates from the early 1800's. Overall. The desk is in very good estate condition. There is some noticeable wear along the corners and edges and especially along the modling that runs across the front. See pictures. Period George III Chippendale Hall Table, c. 1760-1780
Description: This listing is for a Period English Chippendale George III Mahogany Hall Table. Circa the last quarter of the 18 th century. Probably 1760-80. It is a fully solid piece of mahogany primary woods over golden oak secondary woods. With a golden mahogany top that is a full single board– not veneered. It sits over a single drawer with two bail style pulls. Both pulls being period and probably original to the piece, though the pins are replaced(see more below in the condition statement) The drawer is carved to simulate cockbeading. With hand dovetailing of the front and backs fo the drawer. The frame terminates on four chamfered legs. The frame is dovetail construction over tenon mortise joinery. Locking the entire structure with perfection. The interior of the frame has areas of nearly black oxidization. With unfinished hand cuts ... moreand carvings throughout the underside, a testament of the tools used by the craftsman. Hand craftsmanship is written all over this piece. With original hand made screws still holding the top to the frame– three of the seven screws are entirely hand made. Rosehead nails are visible underneath on the rear leg blocking. This is an outstanding piece for any serious collector of the Chippendale Period. Particularly Georgian collections, but also is a wonderful strike point for any fine home. It’s subdued size allows it to comfortably function in a variety of spaces. Bringing a strong sense of refined beauty balanced with simple austerity. Measurements: 38” wide by 21” deep by 28 ½” high. Condition: Top appears to be original to the piece. But has had screws replaced and the top has potentially been shifted. It is a different shade of mahogany. Being a magnificent golden grain solid board, but lends curiosity to whether it is original to the piece. The underside of the top has the uneven evidence of hand planing. It is not rough and was carefully finished with oxidization levels underside that match that of the frame. We believe it to be original. But please confirm independen

American Chippendale Solid Mahogany Flip Top Game Table c. 1780-90 Marlboro chamfered legs over Molded feet. Pierced Fretwork Returns, probably Philadelphia Pennsylvania Item# 120011TIT24 This is a beautiful and quite rare Philadelphia Game Table. Crafted with entirely solid mahogany primary woods chosen for their brilliant grain displays. Both table top surfaces are full planks of mahogany, deeply patinated with wonderful oxidization dancing beneath the warm glowing and quite early finish, lifting on hand forged hinges with original screws. A single drawer slides easily in and out of the frame, hand dovetailed front and back with what appears to be the original pierced brass hardware, all framed inside of cockbead molding that surrounds the drawer. The table rests over square marlboro legs, chamfered on the interior corner to lighten the ... moreoverall appearance of the legs, these terminating in molded feet. The back leg swings over a knuckle joint on a very thick and heavy oak gate leg, appearing to be red oak, pinned to the leg with double pegs locking the tenon-mortise joint. Double pegs are also visible at both corners of the back of the table, and when the leg opens it reveals the clean dovetailed frame, these quite distinctive and perfectly matching the drawer. This is a wonderful find for the serious collector of Pennsylvania furniture. As well as the decorator looking for a highly versatile and absolutely gorgeous functional work of art. Working for any number of design settings, as a serving table in the dining room, a hallway table with a chair on either side, as a small desk in the library or as a functional card table, this piece is incredibly sturdy and is meant to be used. With a deep and glowing patina in the well preserved finish, stunning full boards of mahogany and the elegance highlighted in the fretwork and chamfered molded legs, this is a very fine piece for any formal home. Late 18th Century English Chippendale Antique Desk Table, Partially Composed

Description: This listing is for a Partially Composed Late 18th Century English Chippendale One Drawer Desk. Mahogany. It is a very fine piece with wonderful color throughout, a warm patina dancing across the finish. The top is rounded along the edges, a slight lip over a very wide and thick mahogany veneered surface with outstanding flamed grains. A single broad drawer sides in and out of the table with what appear to be fully original pierced batwing pull hardware and escutcheons, newly polished, and a veneered drawer facade. The drawer is hand dovetailed front and back with a thin single board bottom chamfered along the edges to rabbet into the frame. The lock is brass, appearing to be original with replaced screws, though ... moreto verify this we would have to remove the entire lock and have not done so. The table rests over four straight legs, the interior edges bevelled, both front legs flanked on either side by pierced returns in the Chippendale manner. This is a beautiful and simple desk. Bringing the beauty of the 18th Century to a very useful piece of furniture. This is not a collector quality piece, as noted below in our discussion of some additions and adjustments, but it most certainly is a fine decorator piece and is priced to meet that market. With glowing original brasses, a fine deep patina and a petite and simple form, this is a wonderful piece for any room where you seek to capture a classical air or sense of nostalgia. In excellent structural condition, this piece will last in it's current glowing condition for many generations to come.
