Set of 6 Mahogany Chippendale Style Dining Chairs Hickory Chair Co.
This set consists of two arm chairs and four side chairs. They chairs are unmarked. But I believe they are the Carolina Chippendale chairs, made by Hickory Chair Company from their James River collection. They are probably 30 to 40 years old and have minor scuffs, consistent with age. The upholstery has a few small stains, but no tears in the fabric, and they could be used as-is. These chairs were made for many years and can still be found on the company's web site.

Antique Chippendale, Roman, Egyptian style Chair w/ Character
This was donated to us here at Kiwanis by a son whose mother had this chair that has been in family as long as he could remember. It has had some work done to it. It looks like it was varnish at some time with maybe a new seat. If it had a new seat added it was a long time ago but it might be the original. I can't find a makers mark it might of been on the bottom of the chair and that piece is missing. The back piece is also broken. It was made with two thin pieces of wood and some where along the line broke. I took a pic for you to see. The side also had three curved wood rails and only two are there now on both sides. It has a beautiful painted picture on the back rest with green. Orange, yellow and red but has faded over time. The chair needs some love and restoration. We tried to do some research to find when, who and exact style ... moreof the chair but could not come up with much. Rehabbed Painted Chippendale Chair
When this Rococo Chippendale chair was given to me. It was in horrible shape. Still sturdy and the shape of the chair made for a comfortable seat, but the upholstery was destroyed, the finish was ruined, flaking, and sunburned and trim was falling off. I carefully worked on this chair adding a new pad and new fabric. I painted several coats with this great shade of blue, carefully sanded to give this great antiqued look, stained the exposed wood to accentuate and gave it a thin coat of clear enamel for protection. Connecticut, Circa 1760-1770, all in the BEST OLD GRUNGY SURFACE AND PATINA. Rare Connecticut example with a fully developed HEART CUT center splat. Wonderful CARVED EARS. It also has nice added seat strips that are original. Often. Country versions were made with the added strip that covered the ends of the rush seat. It was an easy way to preserve the most vulnerable area of the seat. The paper rush seat is circa 1940 and is in very good condition. FEET ARE FULL HEIGHT AND COMPLETELY ORIGINAL. Fine English Georgian Chippendale Wingback Arm Chair Incredible carved fretwork along arms and legs. C. late 18th Century Item# 120001LWP05 This is a very fine wingback armchair crafted with solid mahogany primaries in England during the George III Period. Late 18th Century. It is simply a stunning piece with a unique and quite interesting"wingback" design. The crest is flat. Squaring off with small lobed wings that culminate where your head would rest, and flow back into the frame almost immediately. These flank a broad and very comfortable upholstered back, from which both open upholstered arms flare slightly outward before joining the sloped arm supports. Each arm support is intricately carved with gothic fretwork designs out of a single solid block of mahogany- none of the carvings on this chair are applied, all of them being ... morecarved of the solid. These flow into a square seat, deeply upholstered and stuffed over the rail. The seat rests over two square front legs, each with Gothic fretwork carved into them, stretched with a box stretcher joining using hidden tenon mortise joinery- not dovetails. The rear legs are square, canted and slightly backswept and all four legs are chamfered along the interior corner. This is one of the most beautiful Georgian chairs we've carried in quite some time. Having fabulous carvings with a deep glowing patina on all exposed surfaces in rich mahogany. It is solid and heavy, being fully functional two-hundred and fifty years after being originally crafted, with generations of strength still in the joints throughout. This is an outstanding find for any serious collector of Georgian antique furniture, but also a wonderful find for anyone looking to bring this classic design to their home in a striking and wonderful way. This one is in dark oxblood, with antique brass tacks around the high shapely wings that come down into a cushioned arm, which also has brass antique tacks, and then into a cabriole-style Chippendale leg. It has a removable cushion and a buttoned and pleated back. It’s a traditional old wing back chair that is very popular in offices around the country, and in front of fireplaces, we might add. I have one sitting right in my master bedroom that looks really nice. The chair measures 37.5 inches to the top of its back. 18 inches to the top of its seat, 20 inches across at its knees and 15 inches deep. The desk measures 44.75 inches to the top of its brass gallery, 28.5 inches to the top of its writing surface, 18 inches deep and 30.5 inches wide. Superb shell dish carved lid and ball and claw feet. Excellent original condition including its finish, lock and key.
