This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. The arms flow down into curved handholds, the arm supports terminating in the frame with acanthus leaves sprouting up along the edges. These arms flank a deep and very comfortable down upholstered cushion, thick and very supportive, complimenting the overall cant of the chair- by leaning just slightly backwards. This is a simply wonderful chair to rest and lounge in. The apron is an intense display of flowers along a vine, acanthus leaves sprouting from beneath the cushion to peak out over the edge. Vintage Mid Century French Louis XVI Large Bergere Wing Chair w/ Ottoman
Vintage Mid Century French Louis XVI Large Bergere Wing Chair w/ Ottoman. This beautiful chair has an outstanding flowing form with a solid wood frame throughout. This is a mid century piece done in the French Louis XVI. With a couple unusual embellishments. It has a pair of very attractive curved wings on the sides, and the ottoman a rail on the back, making it look like a bench or stool. The ottoman conforms to the front of the chair to make one large, stately piece of furniture. It looks like it may be the original mid century upholstery, and it suits the chair quite nicely. The modern zig-zag pattern is complemented with a solid pattern on the back of the chair and ottoman. I do not know the maker of this piece but it is certainly a high quality piece that was well taken care of over the years. The chair measures 44" tall x 35" ... morewide x 33" deep. The ottoman is 24" tall x 33" wide x 25" deep. Good vintage condition. Looks and displays great. Only some minor condition issues. Structurally sound and fabric is in good condition(although there is a faint impression in the back from another piece of furniture) Light scratches and rubbing to the feet all around. One foot on the ottoman has chipping around the base of it. The wooden cross piece on the ottoman is somewhat distressed/worn. This auction is for the actual item(s) as pictured. I find all of my items at estate sales and antique stores. I do not repair any items or do anything other than a light cleaning and dusting. All items are sold as-found. Pair Aubusson Tapestry- Bergere Seat Covering Fast Shipping! Beautiful heavy wool tapestry Floral design. Matching set- 4 pieces total. Taken from a pair of antique Bergere chairs. in great condition with no holes. Brittle dry rot, wear or stains. They are ready to use again for upholstering or pillows. The backgrounds are a nice deep blue with shading getting darker towards the center(these are not faded) and the flowers are a nice persimmon, salmon and peach colors with light blue accents. The leaves are many shades of olive. I would say these are most likely from the 1920s, possibly 40s. The handwork is visible on the flowers only and the rest of the background is woven in a flat weave. I don't see gaps like the 18th century tapestries have. The sleek legs are slightly flared and are finished in a black gloss paint. The curved hand rests are in Brazilian Rosewood with a fabulous grain. The chair has new fabric and a very thick seat cushion foam. The re-upholstery was done professionally. The fabric is a in a red and gold stripe and some fabric sections have been set at an angle for contrast in pattern. The fabric is a dual texture. MID CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS SILVER LEAF CARVED WOOD ROPE TASSEL SILK BERGERE CHAIR
We are pleased to offer to you this FABULOUS. Mid Century chair. This is an incredible chair with both French(Louis XV) and Napoleon III design/form characteristics. It features a substantial WOOD(not composite) frame which is exquisitely carved in a dimensional rope pattern. Carved tassels accent the arms as well as the feet. There is also a"tied knot" accent on the lower legs. The wood has a heavily applied, silver leaf finish with a black, slightly mottled over glaze. The chair features the finest silk fabric. The fabric is original and is a beautiful, antique ivory color(a very light cappuccino color in indirect light) with a pearlescent sheen. There is a tonal wood grain pattern which adds further interest. The chair has plush, slightly overstuffed seat and back. This is a chair of pure luxury, both in terms of appearance as ... morewell as materials and design. The chair dates to the 1970s and may be of Italian manufacturing. It is in VERY good condition with minor evidence of age/use. There are a few, very minor scuffs to the wood which are neither severe nor distracting. The fabric is free of rips, tears, or worn areas. It does have light soiling which can be resolved with a professional cleaning. The padding is very good and it appears that the chair was used very little. It is superb! A very nice ebay customer advised me that this chair was featured in the August 2014 issue of Elle Décor on page 94. The chair measures 29.5" tall. It is 25.25" wide and 24" front to back. We are pleased to offer this old French Bergere gilt gesso chair. We are unsure of its age but it is most likely 1930 or earlier. There are numerous sections where the gilt gesso is chipped. The upholstery is most likely not original. it is very clean but faded and in usable condition. The back of the chair shows brush marks indicating that it may have been touched up at some point.
