This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. The arms flow down into curved handholds, the arm supports terminating in the frame with acanthus leaves sprouting up along the edges. These arms flank a deep and very comfortable down upholstered cushion, thick and very supportive, complimenting the overall cant of the chair- by leaning just slightly backwards. This is a simply wonderful chair to rest and lounge in. The apron is an intense display of flowers along a vine, acanthus leaves sprouting from beneath the cushion to peak out over the edge. The chair rests over cabriole front legs with intense multi-dimension floral carvings along the knees, flowing into scrolled french toes.
