This great tray measures 13 inches in length. 8 1 1/2 inches across, and about 4 1/2 inches to the top of the handle. There are no cracks or repairs of the piece. The sides are made from a continuous piece of wood, bent to shape and fastened with tiny cut nails. The bottom is made of one piece of wood. The piece is held together by the tiny nails, no glue. Finish is original and could look like new with a restoration job but not bad as is. The lace caned in the back of the chair is perfect. The upholstery on seat is still good, may be original could be cleaned during restoration. Needs upholstery ribbon to cover nail heads, just glues on, no problem to do. 19th Century Original Antique Wooden Pantry Box; oval, bentwood, old measure
Here's an antique pantry box up for bids in very good condition. Handcrafted from wood in the late 1800s. It has some primitive"stitching" on the side of the box. It once had a cover and may have been last used as a measure. This box is just as we found it, it hasn't even been cleaned up so it has a little bit of a grungy patina. It has wonderful coloring with some variations in shade from place to place from all the use this piece has seen. It stands 6 1/4 inches high, 3 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches high. Still tight and sturdy, it's not infested with woodworms, termites, or dry rot. It would look great displayed in any kitchen and even in other rooms in your home. LACE THROGH THE HOLES AND THEN LET DRY) THE ARE ON THE SIDE, JUST BELOW WHERE THE LACING WOULD STOP HAS BEEN DAMAGED, ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A VERY LONG TIME AGO. MY GUESS WOULD BE IT WAS DAMAGED AT SOME POINT LONG AGO LACING OR RE-LACING THE ITEM. AS THOUGH THE LACES HAS BEEN PULLED TOO TIGHT AND BROKEN THE WOOD. ON EACH END OF THE BOX ARE THE WOODEN PILLARS WHICH IS WHAT WOULD MAKE THE BOX"KEYED" SO THAT THE LID ONLY FITS ON ONE WAY. BOTH ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THEY ARE BOTH HELD IN WITH ROPE. If you are a collector of Michael Thonets work and design then you wont have a problem identifying this magnificent. Early beech wood piece. I spent a lot of money nearly 30 years ago. Restoring this piece. Resin was shot into it to strengthen it. The french caning was re-done. The stress points and bend in the frame were corrected and fixed. However. Years of damp storage have taken its toll. I am selling it for a price to merely move it on to someone who is interested in restoring it with not much effort and have again a fine beautiful piece. There are two places to be glued and clamped. And one punctured spot on back of caning to be repaired. And the back of chair needs to be removed and steamed into place again. you are bidding on. Antique Field Cradle one of a kind in this condition. With metal wheels and handle. Over 42 inches long. 22-32 inches wide(with outside frame) and approximately 27 inches tall. The cradle is in very good condition for age and sturdy. This was probably manufactured around 1876 or later. They were normally made of bent Hickory wood. I do not know what kind of wood this is, but all slats, frame, original nails, handles, etc. are in Good working condition. There is one spot on the end that is held together with wire.and this was probably painted, then stripped, as there are paint remnants visible here and there. I see no major damages, but the hook at the one end is newer and must have been replaced at some time. This is a rare model to have the curved towing handle and the original wheels. Don't pass it up! This is a vintage circa 1970's walnut table lamp with smoked Lucite center chamber that has flame tipped bulbs for a nite-lite effect. In is in excellent working condition and has a three way switch so you can have any combination of lamps on. Does not include harp which has standard clips and easy to obtain and would also depend on height of shade you choose. Condition is very good with some tarnish on the chrome at the top and bottom. Antique Vintage Wood Doll Handkerchief Glove Box Trunk Latch & Bentwood Handles
Fresh from an upstate New York estate! This offering is for a primitive light wooden box or doll trunk measuring 12" wide. 6 1/4" deep and 5 1/2" high. I believe it to be a handmade doll trunk as I found a primitive"Mammy" rag doll and an old celluloid doll inside(sold separately) but it could have also been used as a glove or handkerchief box. The trunk consists of wood panels nailed together with three narrow slats attached on top and one on the front. The wood finish is richly aged but there are stains near the old nail heads- which only gives it more character. To each end there is a bentwood handle. These look like they were an afterthought to the original construction. The front has an old aged tin lever latch. When the lever is vertical the box is latched shut. When flipped to the left, the box latch is open. ... moreInside the cover is attached a paper picture of a Victorian dressed woman. The bottom of the trunk is papered but the paper is stained and torn. A strap of burlap to the left side is no longer attached to it's nail to hold the cover from flopping back. The only splits in the wood slats are two short edge splits on the bottom. Each is aprox. 2" long and does not affect the structural integrity of the box. Vintage 1929 SINGER Sewing Machine, model 99 - Bentwood Case, Serial AC674550
This is a Vintage 1929 SINGER Sewing Machine. Model 99. Serial number AC674550. It was manufactured in in 1929 and 1930. I bought this at a church auction and am unsure of it's history. It has the original Bentwood Case, called the"Coffin Case" and it comes with the key to lock on the lid for carrying. The case is in decent condition and could use some mineral wax. This machine has a glossy black finish with floral embellishments around the perimeter of the base. It includes the original Singer brand light and Singer motor, both of which work. The belt looks good, but needs tightened up. There is some wear, which is to be expected on a 85 year old machine. I'm sure it's had a lot of use, especially having survived throughout the entire Great Depression. It includes the knee pedal which is often missing. I am not a sewing ... moremachine expert. I wiped it off. Plugged it in, and then depressed the knee pedal. The motor hummed to life, the wheel turned, and the needle went up& down. I'm sure it's going to need oiled and tuned up a bit. Antique/ Vintage(age unknown but probably over 100 years old) wooden firkin sewing box with built in spool holder. Pincushion and a hinged box. The body of the firkin is in good condition with only a few scrapes and dings. The lid has a piece of wood missing and has splintered from age. The inside is clean and in good condition. The box is 12 inches tall and 13 inches diameter at bottom tapering to 12 inches at the top. 17 inches with handle extended. The wood has a nice aged color to it and the upholstery is in good condition. Bentwood handle intact without splintering/cracks. I bought this for myself many years ago and found it impractical to use on a regular basis.I added the wooden knob on lid to facilitate lifting. questions always welcome!
