Antique Thonet Bentwood Chair-With Multiple Tags Intact
Before I start in about this chair I wanted to mention a bit about the shipping. I have the shipping maybe a bit high but lately I have been loosing my tush on shipping because I have been way under charging. I am new and haven't quite figured the shipping thing out yet. I will say this however. I am a very honest seller and will NOT ever charge anyone too much on shipping. That has been done to me and I refuse to do it to someone else. So, if I can ship it cheaper I absolutely will, and if it doesn't take that much to ship it then you will be getting a refund. Please feel free to contact anyone that I have sold things to and ask them if I am honest. Anyway, I just thought I would mention that before I went on, lol. I have up for sale a very antique genuine Thonet bentwood accent chair. This chair is solid especially for it's ... moreage. We have sat in it for years. Just don't have room for it any longer. This chair is 33 inches tall and 16 inches wide. I am not 100 percent sure what this chair is made of, meaning what type of wood. While it is a little smaller than a normal size dinning room chair for example, this chair is quite heavy for it's size. This chair is a bit dusty and probably needs to be cleaned up properly. I am sure it would look a whole lot richer if it had some wood polish on it, but I am never sure exactly what might harm or help a chair this age and I sure would hate to have run a rag over it with wood polish and find out that I just ruined it. I have that sort of luck you know, lol. Okay. So continuing on with this beautiful chair. From the research I have done it seems to me that Thonet stopped making this type of seat around 1880. I am certain this chair is NOT a reproduction because if you look at some of my pictures of the underside of the chair you can see that it has square nails in it. The seats and backs are a cream colored leather. Looks like someone tried to strip the wood on one chair as it appears lighter in color than the other. These are solid to sit on. Two 3.5-4" screws are missing from underneath the seats as shown in pic#4. But can easily be replaced to hold the seat in place better. The tags are still in place that read Thonet. Age appropriate wear to chairs. One small rip in upholstery that I noticed on back of one chair. Upholstery could use some cleaning. Mostly surface dirt. Offered for your consideration is a great vintage mid century modern steamer chair by Thomas Lamb. Lamb's cruise ship inspired steamer chair from the mid-1970s epitomizes the beauty of bent furniture. Someone noted that it was made of strips of Mabau teak that were steam bent. And then lined up perfectly to maintain the precise angles. However, we are unsure of the wood type. It is part of the Design Exchange’s permanent collection(Bent Out of Shape Exhibition) which spans 6 decades. The chair does fold as it was designed to be a deck chair. There is a pad with the chair– not sure if it is original. Marked: Designed by Thomas Lamb. Canadian Registration 1978. US Patent applied for. Made in Canada. Dubarry Furniture Ltd. Rare Formica Laminated Bentwood Chair Mid Century Modern Brown Saltman? Thonet?
This is a very unusual chair that is certainly circa 1950's and probably on the early end of that decade. But I can find very little information on. It is completely covered in Formica. The back, legs sides, everywhere but the cushion. It has elements of Brown and Saltman as well as Thonet but the cloth staple label does not indicate the manufacturer. It is in excellent condition with very little wear but there is cracking in the vinyl covering and it needs to be recovered. The seats come right off so its an easy job. It is extremely well made with bent plywood underframe that was meticulously covered in Formica. It measures 32.5" tall, 18.5" wide and 20.5" deep. I have two available for the same price. The legs and back bolt on with square nuts so it will be disassembled to save significantly on shipping. Thank you!

In the middle to late 1900's this father and son company were contemporaries of and rival manufacturers to Michael Thonet. The original designer of the bentwood chair. After decades of rivalry the Kohn company and Thonet eventually merged together in the 1920's. This chair has the distinctive shell pattern in the surface of the seat(see photo) Original KOHN company label to the underside of the seat. Condition The chair is strong and sturdy with all joins still firm. The chair has a 34" tall back rest and 18" tall seating area with a 16" round seat. The seat has an unusual carved lines and swirls pattern. The back rest has the typical bentwood chair design. Which extends down the rear legs and is attached with metal brackets to the underside of the chair with square head bolts. The legs have a beautifully shaped bentwood stretcher attached on the rear of the front legs, the bottom under rim of seat, and extends down to the lower rear legs. I am not sure if this is the original color of the chair, which has heavy wear to the finish. The seat has water damage plus a split from front to back. There is white ... morepaint on the front of the back rest and heavy dirt from use. The underside of the seat looks to have been spray painted white. The label is no longer present, but the underside has"MADE IN POLAND" carved into the side. The 2 metal brackets attached to the bottom of the seat and the legs is stamped"PAT, SEP 22 14" The metal chair feet or gliders are no longer present. The chair may have been used as a stage prop. Exceptional Original Antique THONET Bentwood Child’s Chair Wien /Vienna, Austria
This is an exceptional and lovely antique child's chair. This chair was purchased at an English Estate Auction in Barbados. West Indies in 1964. This is the child size version of the Classic THONET bentwood café chair. Gersuan an Austrian Cabinet maker began making furniture out of bent wooden slats in 1830's. It has a black lacquer finish with gold detailing on it. The chair has THONET stamped into the wood on the bottom. Chair has original square headed bolts from that period. Measures Height- 2 1/2" Width- 12 1/2" Diameter- 12 1/2" This is a special child's chair and can be used to display a doll or teddy bear. As we have used it as a work of art.

This is a very cool chair. The Following description is information I was able to find through my research on this piece. I don't personally know much about this type of chair. So I can only go by what I discovered during my research. Please look closely for yourself and make your own determination if the information is accurate. Up for auction we have an Ice Cream Parlor. Soda Shop, Bistro Style 1900-1950 Kohn& Mundus style Art Deco Bentwood Thonet style chair with a round super embossed hand carved seat. I believe it dates closer to the circa 1925 era. The chair has a 34" tall back rest and 18" tall seating area with a 14 1/2" diameter seat. When pushed against the wall it measures 17" deep from the wall to the front of the seat. The seat has an interesting carved lines and swirls pattern. The underside of the ... moreseat rim has a stamp into the wood that I believe says Made in Poland. It's difficult to make out. The back rest has the typical bentwood chair design which extends down the rear legs and is attached to the underside of the chair with old square head bolts. The back features triple turned spindle or pin back supports. The legs have that beautifully shaped bentwood look. I am not sure if this is the original color of the chair. Which has heavy wear to the finish. There is some sporadic paint speckles and spots here and there on the chair. The chair came out of an art studio, which explains the paint. I'm sure if you wanted to clean it up and bring it back to original condition, it would clean right up with minimal effort. The chair is very solid and sturdy with no loose joints or screws. J & J KOHN BENTWOOD CHILD'S CAFE CHAIR, RARE, MADE IN WSETIN FACTORY VIENNA WEIN
You are bidding on a very rare Jacob and Josef Kohn Bentwood child's café/ parlor chair. Based on the makings and labels on the chair this was made prior sometime prior to 1914 in the Wsetin factory in Moravia. Vienna, Austria which J& J built in 1869. Item's made in this factory are very hard to come by. J& J Kohn were contemporary's and the major competitor of Thonet in the late 1800's. J& J Kohn employed many of the famous architects and designers of the era including Otto Wagner. Josef Hoffman, Koloman Moser, Hans Prutscher, and Gustav Siegel. This childs bentwood chair is in need of restoring. It is solid and the only splitting I see is on the"back" circle in the back and it is shown it one of the pictures. Civil War Period Folding Camp Chair w/Bentwood Arms
This is an Original Civil War Period Camp Chair with bentwood Arms. This style of chair was very popular with officers and can be seen in countless photos taken of officers in camp during the war. This particular chair has been restored to a useable condition and has a new carpet style seat. I have sat on this many times and I weigh 190 lbs. It holds me with no effort. But I don't know it's weigh limits beyond me. It folds compactly as you can see in photo two and is ready either for display or a re-enactor camp. You would be the envy of other officers if you used an original piece of Civil War history in your camp. The winning bidder will be responsible for shipping and insurance.
