VTG BENTWOOD ADULT ROCKER ROCKING CHAIR RATTAN SOLID WOOD IVORY POLAND
This is a 1970's Thonet-style. Adult size, bentwood rocker finished in enamel paint that was originally an ivory color. After acquiring the chair at an estate sale and cleaning it thoroughly, it is ready to rock. The finish has yellowed over the years, though most of the yellowing could probably be removed with light steel-wool. There are various chips and scratches in the finish-please view pictures carefully. The chair could definitely be re-painted. The chair is incredibly solid! To test. We had a 6'4" 216 pound man try it out and he rocked for several minutes(didn't want to get up because of the soothing nature of the rocker! No creaking or sounds of strain from the rocker! It does not move at any of the joints if one applies pressure to opposing angles. It rocks perfectly without any creaks, squeaks or other sounds of ... morestrain on the frame. The caning is also completely sound, with no sagging or worn spots, nor any stains. The only markings on the chair are on the underside of the seat where"Made in Poland" is imprinted in the rim. I believe that taking the chair apart for shipping. Or possible jarring during shipping, could interfere with the structural integrity of the chair. Therefore, the chair is available for pick-up by buyer or buyer's agent(freight company) from our home in Fremont, Ohio. Mid Century Modern Bentwood Tube Cylinder Couch & Chair Eames Wegner Knoll
Description: This is quite the conversation piece and a must have for your mid-century themed living or office space. You will search long and hard to find a more unique set than this. At first glance. It appears odd that the traditonal area for cushions is open making it questionable as to it's functionality. As far as comfort. Looks are deceiving. This is one of the most comfortable mid-century pieces that I have sat in/on. The bentwood legs allow for slight reclining of the backrest allowing for adjustment to a desired position. The bentwood legs do show some chipping and wear at the edges but nothing that affects the function of the couch. These spots are strictly cosmetic and can be fixed if you desire. The"tube" or cylinder shaped cushion and backrest have wear on each piece. I woud recommend that these be re-covered as ... morethey are currently done in the original vinyl. There are tears on both the couch and chair. The top section of the couch is damaged from what appears to be dried and cracking vinyl. This would be one of the easiest upholstery/leather jobs around based on the shape without any sharp lines present. The ends are done in the same material with brass tacks lining the outer edge. The seat cushion appears to be round while the backrest is more oblong shaped. Most likely. This was done purposely to achieve a product that was both appealing and comfortable. As stated earlier in this listing. You can search high and low for something more unique and unusual but you will not find it. This is a set that any mid-century enthusiast should own. The estate that this came from was full of late 50's to mid 60's furnishings. The family could offer no information as to when this was first purchased or where it was purchased at. I was only told that it had been owned by the same family since new. Good luck bidding. You will be hard pressed to find a similar set. Classic Thonet bentwood chair with white vinyl cushions. The cushions were originally green. But were coated in a white plastic spray paint made specifically for vinyl about two years ago. Maple wood most likely as this is a tight grain and fairly heavy, nice sturdy construction with partial label on the underside. It is not legible however(shown in close up photo) There appears to have been pink paint on this at one time as there are a few dots on the underside of the seat. There are a couple of dark marks on the top of the seat as shown. The chair measures 24 1/4 inches tall x 11 1/4 at the widest part of the seat and 11 inches deep. They measure 33 inches in height, 18 inches in seat height, 21.5 inches from arm to arm, 18 inches in seat depth. They are original finish. The felt seating needs to be redone. What a find! Fresh from an 1830's Post& Beam house recently purchased~ was sitting in the attic eaves. Measures 34 1/2" to top of back 17 1/2" to top of seat. Seat is 15" wide x 16 1/2" deep Triple row back with hand carved designs Inside of the seat it is stamped into the wood MAZOWIA Made in Poland. On the other side there are remnants of a paper label as well Bolted metal leg brackets in fine condition No splits to wood anywhere I can see Bottom of one leg has an old chip at the base of the leg. Same color as leg as this chip happened many years ago- At first glance I missed it. Needs a tightening- one back slat has come unglued from age and the glue drying out- One leg needs to be reglued and screwed. Beautiful& Rare: set of 4 Oak Bentwood Triangle Seat Chairs by Great Northern Chair Co. which was also known as the American Thonet Bentwood Factory. Great Northern was located on Chicago's near westside. It was one of the U.S. makers of bentwood chairs since the early 1900's. Exact age is unknown at this time- I would guess they are prior 40's to 20's. The chairs are in excellent condition. Showing only a little ware at the egdes on the seat red felt on a couple chairs as seen in pics. The chairs are very strudy, balanced and comfortable. Constructed of bent oak wood, with bolted metal leg brackets and antique screws. These chairs are a tiny bit smaller than usual chairs. They have been a for a game table or cafe sytle chairs or amybe just to sit in. The triangle seats on very unusual and rare- I could not fine anything ... moresimilar. Thonet Bentwood Chair French Caning Cir 1800s Pin Stripe Painted Grain. You have the opportunity to buy an unusual and scarce early unmarked Thonet bent wood chair with original hand caning. Small weaved French pattern design. With all good things some bad must come. The good news is you have the opportunity the buy this scarce and rare chair, the bad news is you're going to look at it and enjoy it unless you do some repair work. I would say there's no doubt about it that this was made by Thonet, and originally had a paper label that fell off. There is a number 80 which is stamped into different positions. The wood looks to be Oak and the heavy grain was pinstriped with a dark stain to accent the chair, at the factory. This has the original finish and hand graining on it. There is consistent wear and damage due to a chair being this ... moreold. Description of the condition is as follows, there is a Nick on the right arm on the top, and finish chipping on the inner curve. The left arm has a split at the top where it connects to the back. The original caning is still in good condition and the caning resembles the French pattern with 3/16"holes. The size of the caning is not a complete circle, but measures 18.75 x 18.75. The back of the chair has finish chipping in six positions and a break at the right middle. The right front leg is a large missing chip on the bottom for. Both legs need gluing. The inner ring has five finish chipping, and a crack at the right rear leg, both legs have dings on the bottom. There is a round head bolt that was added to the back arm. The height of the chair is 38 1/2 inches. The widest part of the arms is 22 inches. The seats it's 19 inches off the ground. Please look close at the pictures as they are part of the description. There will be no shipping of this chair. It will have to be picked up at our location in the far northwest corner of Indiana, about 30 miles south of Chicago's downtown. Antique Thonet Bentwood Arm Chair with Original Cane Seat and Back. This chair was made in Austria c. 1900's or earlier and is in good condition. The chair measures overall 46" tall. 21" across the arms, 20" deep. The seat is 18" from the seat top to the floor and 18 1/2" in diameter. The caning is in good shape but with a small unraveled area on the right front edge of seat and top left edge of back. This could be repaired by a talented caning artisan. The wood is in good shape, stained deep brown with a semi-gloss finish The chair is sturdy and structurally sound. Here is a rare and very special opportunity for the lover of fine antique bentwood maple furniture to purchase an original Conant Ball sofa and club chair made in the late 1930's to early 1940's using the original art deco style American Modern designs by Russel Wright. But manufactured during the brief time following his employment with Conant Ball when they continued to manufacture this fabulous bentwood maple furniture according to his designs, but marked with only the Conant Ball American Modern mark that does not incorporate his name. The incredible flowing lines of both the chair and the sofa's form speak for themselves with regard to beauty and I've tried to photograph these pieces from a variety of angles in an attempt to showcase their design as well as their overall very good condition, original maple finish in very ... morenice condition and what appears to be the original webbing under both the chair and the sofa as shown in my pictures from below. This pair are come without seat cushions. The sofa measures 65 1/2 inches long and 38 inches front to back. And 29 inches tall. The approximate area to be covered by seat cushions would be 60 inches long(three 20 inch wide cushions) and 22 inches deep, front to back. The club chair measures 25 3/4 inches wide and is also 38 inches deep, front to back and 29 inches tall. The seat cushion area on the chair measures 20 inches wide and 22 inches deep, front to back as well. The seat back cushions would be comparable. These magnificent antique frames are beautifully constructed and in very nice condition offering endless decorating options when selecting the cushions and upholstery.
