I believe it is solid maple with an Old Pine ... morefinish and probably dates to the 1950s/60s. It has bamboo style turned legs with a barrel shaped midsection and an overall colonial style. Nichols & Stone began making furniture in the 1850s and finally closed up shop around 2008. They have since been reincarnated under the Stickley name and are available again in some limited forms. Victorian 1890's kidney shaped seat barrel back spool child's children's chair. This chair and its' matching chair(in another auction) have been in my family here in Lehigh and Chester County. Pa. for all of my 65 years, and my mothers life before that. You can hopefully see that the spools are hand pegged in to the seat back. It has a bentwood barrel back. Originally painted green with a gold pin stripe around the back edge of the seat and also used as decoration on the turned front rung and legs. THIS chair has a piece of electrical tape on the one side rung for at least the past 60 or more years. I have no idea if it is a little crack in the wood. I can tell you it has been there for all my years. And my grown children's lives. I never un-wrapped it, because nothing ever seemed to be wrong, and I feel like it gave it ... moresome charm. I have started this one a few dollars less to compensate for the tape and crack. It is 21 1/2" tall Seat width: 15" Seat depth: 10 1/2" 6 spools on the back. All in place with no issues. The detail in just amazing for something this old. It is unmarked. And this is how itw as made according to the books. Two similar rings are shown in the book by Gottschalk and Whitson in plates 330 and 331 on page 137. They valued it at $200 in 1996. 17 years ago. This figural napkin ring is in very good to excellent condition. I have not polished it. Just washed it in warm soapy water to remove any dirt. It has a nice darkish patina and I would say almost all of the silverplating is intact. There are no other issues. Door fronts, and on the roll top. It has a locking mechanism that locks all four drawers when the roll top is closed. The hardware is all original and in great condition and comes with the original keys. The desk comes with a matching walnut chair with casters. The chair has been re-upholstered but is otherwise in great condition. The desk is 52" wide x 26" deep x 55 1/2" tall at the tallest point at the back. The desk writing surface extends out 9 3/4" which you can see in the photos. You will need to buy cyanoacrylate glue(aka super glue) As it’s not included. This chair can be painted or aged. Spray paint or acrylic paint is specified. And again, you’d have to supply this yourself. A finish coat of water base varnish is recommended if you’ve used acrylics. If you choose to paint. There are a couple of areas you'd need to lightly sand. The underside of the chair and the rocker parts are not textured, and without sanding, there would be no"tooth" whereby the paint could adhere. The seat of the rocker is textured. Even if you keep the white color for the chair, you may want to lightly sand the rocker parts to mute the shine. This one is a nice design, joints seem solid, the finish is in typical fair, rubbed, somewhat worn& aged patina(it's something like the faux-finishers try to get on new furniture to make it look antique) I find this original look with the'lived in' character to be preferable to a completely refinished one with glitzy urethane, etc. We've cleaned this one up with polish& wax. It's looking good and can be kept clean. Finish is in good shape. The wood looks to be a beautiful Mahogany, but with a lighter more natural color, but I'm not entirely sure. Goes well with either lighter or darker versions of these chairs, and the warmly rubbed armrests show the beautiful grain of this hard, clear gorgeous wood. Hello.up for auction today. Fabulous vintage HOMECREST wire barrel patio chair. It swivels. It bounces, it rocks. It is a definite"Blast from the Past" If your vibe is mid-century modern, this is the chair for you. The iconic mod floral print is a fashion statement in itself. The chair measures 28" in height, 27" in length and 28" wide. There are 2 cushions, one for the seat(it has a zipper in the back) and one wraps around the top of the chair. One nice feature is, they have a plastic strap to hook on to the chairs so the cushions won't blow away in the wind. As you can see in the pictures, there is some surface rust, but since a can of spray paint will do the trick, thought I'd leave it to the buyer, so they can choose the color they prefer. The vinyl upholstery has some fading, and there are splits along ... morethe seams on one side of the bottom cushion and on the inside seams on the top cushion(see last 2 pictures) Two buttons are missing on the outside of the top cushion. The cushions are useable, but I imagine due to their age, the material has probably weakened and dried out from the sun, not sure how durable it will be. Check out my. Vintage Half Barrel Hand Made Doll/ Teddy Bear Rocking Chair w/ Padded Seat
Vintage Doll or Teddy Bear Rocking Chair Made of what appears to be a old wooden barrel with a metal stay which runs around the bottom It stands about 13 1/2" high to the top of the seat back. The rockers are about 15 1/2" long. The seat is about 6" from the floor and is about 9 1/2" in diameter. Padded and removable It seems that one of the rockers has been replaced at some point as it is a little thinner than the other one. There are a few scratches in the wood and the padded seat is lightly soiled Very solid.
