Set of amazing vintage couch and chair for sale. They have an elegant curved shape not seen in today's boxy and sharp contemporary styles. I know they are truly vintage as they were my grandmother's and show up in family pictures from the early 50s. I guess they are from the late 40s and purchased in Salt Lake City UT I have reupholstered them a few times and most recently slip covered. Up for sale we have a very beautiful Eames Hans Style Barrel Back Leather Chair. It dates back to the 1960s sometime in the wegner era. The style of it is Mid-Century Danish Modern. I was told by my grandmother who once owned this chair it was an Eames Hans chair. But got an email from someone saying it was not. I am not sure who is right or wrong. I can not find any makers marks on it. The chair is made out of kodawood with a leather seat. This chair is in good condition. It does have two small rips on the top portion of the leather seat. That can repaired easily or can be recovered completely. The springs under the seat are in good shape along with the wood back and legs. If you may have any other questions feel free to email me! Exceptional 1860s Victorian Rococo Barrel-Back Chair
Presented is an original Victorian barrel-back armchair in the Rococo design dating to 1860s-1870s. This gorgeous chair with its apparent original red/burgundy upholstery would suit most all interiors I'll use the respected Warman's Antiques Price Guide Book's description of a nearly identical chair(photo 12) Victorian Rococo"barrel-back" armchair. Mahogany, the simple molded and scroll-carved arched crestrail above the tufted upholstered back continuing down to form the low upholstered arms flanking the upholstered spring seat, molded serpentine seatrail, molded demi-cabriole front legs, ca. 1860-1870. All legs are on brass casters and roll in fine order. Naturally, with a chair over 150 years old there are few cosmetic issues. There is what looks like a crack or repair to the front seatrail(photo 8) and one to the ... moreright armrail. Two patches flanking the seat on the back of the chair(photo 6) and spots to the front of the seat cushion. Photos taken during the restoration(photos 10 and 11) show the original state of the inside of the chair. A wooden support was added to the now-reinforced bottom(photo 9) and it sits most comfortably! The chair measures approximately 26" W x 26" L x 36" H. An exceptional piece to add to any finely decorated home! Would also make a great Christmas present! The legs are pins with woven yarn. These are very old. estate item. The larger chair is only 1 1/2 inch tall. The seat is 1 1/2 inch diameter. The height to the top of the seat cushion is 1 inch. Tag says it is made by the Milwaukee Chair Co Milwaukee Wisconsin. Rolls and swivels nicely and the height adjusts. It also has a spring loaded tilt that is adjustable. Seat is formed and dished for comfort and the chair sets nice. The way you see it in the pictures the seat height is 18" with a back height of 34 1/2" It is 23 3/4" wide at the front of the arms. 23 1/2" at the rear of the arms. Outside measurements. Inside is 20 3/8" at the top, 19 1/4" where it meets the seat. Arms are 28 3/4" tall in the front, over 29" to the rear with the seat height set at 18" Seat is 20 1/2" wide by 17 1/4" deep. Leg spread is 20 1/2" across the closest points. Height will adjust 2 1/4" lower and about 2" higher and still have a good bit of threads left. It is straight out of an estate and is a little dusty with some spider webs on the underside. It was being used at a roll top desk. This is a vintage caned barrel back chair. Designed in the Hollywood regency style, and probably dates from the 1960's. The cane is in good condition. And has a patina due to the finish wearing thin around some areas. Also, one section where a few strands are cracked, but all the caning is in place so it isn't very visible. The seat has a few spots on it, but these can be cleaned up. Vintage Oak Barrel Back Arm Chair Desk/Office/Task Rolls/Swivels/Adjusts
Signed B.L. Marbles Bedford Ohio. Finish wear and some digs/scratches from use over the years and there is a long chip to the back rear edge along the top of the back. Finish would touch up nicely with some Old English finish restorer. Leather has about a 2" crack on the right side edge between where the arm upright comes down and the back and maybe a tight cut to the back side where the leather meets the frame so that one can't open up on you. There are some sort of springs under the leather. Leather is lighter in the front corners and I was told to use brown shoe polish on it to darken the color back up to the rest of it. Rolls and swivels nicely and the height adjusts. It also has a spring loaded tilt that is adjustable. Chair sets nice. Leg spread is 20" across the closest points. Height will adjust about 3" higher and still have a good bit of threads left. Rollers have fenders on them to give it an airstream like look. It is a sound.solid,comfortable chair and well made. I am going to partially disassemble for shipping. The chair reattaches to the adjusting frame with 4 large screws.One of the wood screws is missing and will need replaced. I like to put a little glue on the screw threads before I seat them to lock them in place. I am going to pop the wheels off and they just pop back in their mounts. Vintage Sikes Barrel Back Arm Chair Desk/Office/Task Rolls/Swivels/Adjusts
Some finish wear and some minor digs from use over the years. Finish would touch up nicely with some Old English dark finish restorer. This is an estate chair that has been restored at some time in it's life. I think it has been refinished and the rollers have been replaced and the chair tightened up with some extra screws on the underside. Tag says Clark and Gibby Inc New York City. Sikes Co Inc Buffalo NY. Marked on the underside BCH WAL 1265. Rolls and swivels nicely and the height adjusts. It also has a spring loaded tilt that is adjustable. Seat is formed and dished for comfort and the chair sets nice. Height will adjust 1 3/4" lower and about 1/2" higher and still have a good bit of threads left. There should be a locking ring that goes on the shaft that drops down into the rolling base. It is not really needed if you roll the chair around to move it but if you pick the chair up it can pull out of the base. If you don't like that you can always twist a copper wire around the groove and it will look ok as you can't really see it on the underside of the base.
