large antique rosewood belter arm chair pierced carved
up for auction is a great belter arm chair. it is made of rosewood and features a wonderful pierced carved crest with roses. for auction is a very nice sofa and arm chair match by john jelliff. the exact set is in the governor's mansion in the state house of missouri. original finish and in great shape. fabric is in very good shape. the sofa is a bit over 6 feet wide. 43 inches tall, 22 inches deep and 16 from floor to top of seat. the arm chair is 28 inches wide, a bit over 40 inches tall, 22 inches deep, and 16 inches from floor to top of seat. the set is walnut with nice burl accents. i need to move out some parlor sets. i am starting this one for less than i have in it. hopefully buyer can pick up, if not it can be shipped at buyers expense. i can help arrange that if need be. good luck

A heavily and tastefully carved Louis XV Wingback Antique Arm Chair of the Rococo Revival period. This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. The arms flow down into curved handholds, the arm supports terminating in the frame with acanthus leaves sprouting up along the edges. Crafted in the Louis XVI taste during the first quarter of the 20th Century is a classic example of the very successful design. Of diminutive proportions. It is more of an oversized bergere arm chair than a true loveseat. The width ideal for lounging casually with a good book in a comfortable setting. The crest is a perfect arch, sharply angled at each corner to form the squared back- this balance of tight lines with soft flowing form was a difficult harmony to achieve, conforming to the clean form important to Neoclassical designs while still being warm and inviting. This piece captures it perfectly, the arched crest mirrored in the projecting bowed apron and the soft cyma-curve ... moreof the arms and arm supports. These details giving shape and depth to an otherwise austere adherence to the square. Edwardian Sterling Silver Dolls House Miniature 17th Century Jacobean Style Arm Chair dated 1902 This Delightful Miniature Arm Chair measures approximately 1 7/ 8 inches or 48 mm tall to the top of its back by just under 1 1/ 4 inches or 3 0 mm across the widest part of its body from the front of one arm to the other and it is 7/8 of an inch or 2 2 mm across its depth from the front of the arms to its back. The chair is made from sterling silver and it is a miniature model of the English 17th Century Jacobean arm chair that has been embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated to give the chair its definition. The chair has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the rear of the lower rail has been impressed with a registered design number Rd 388779. The chair back has also been impressed with a full set ... moreof English sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, L& S- Anchor- Lion Passant- c L& S is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark of Levi& Salaman. The Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office, the Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard sterling silver and the letter c is the date letter for 190 2. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The Miniature Arm Chair has No Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the chair stands straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the silver hallmark is still clearly legible although as this miniature arm chair is a used antique it does have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would enhance it greatly. Personally I think that this antique miniature Jacobean arm chair would make a superb addition to any dolls house or cabinet collection and that it looks fantastic considering that it's over 110 years old. Antique Dutch or German Solid Silver Dolls House Miniature European 17th Century Arm Chair circ 1890 This Antique Dolls House Miniature Arm Chair measures approximately 1 3/8 inches or 35 mm across the width of the seat from side to side by 1 1/4 inches or 32 mm across the depth of the chair from the back to the front and it stands 2 3/8 inches or 60 mm tall to the top of the chair back. The chair is made from 32.7 grams of solid silver in a delightful 17th century European shape that stands on four paw shaped feet that are at the base of its front and rear pierced and raised relief decorated bracket style legs that are connected by a rail on either side. The chair has a plain seat with scrolled arms that have raised relief decorated top rails with paw shaped ends and the chair back has also been raised relief decorated with a stylized lions ... morehead on either side of a cherub or angelic child's face. The chair back and arms have also been intricately decorated with scrolling silver filigree wire and the chair has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below. Although we have found no silver marks as such the chair has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from solid silver, however one of the side rails has been impressed with the letter N that is along side the letters IR and I think that this is a late Victorian German Hanau Pseudo mark or an early Dutch mark. I estimate that this dolls house miniature arm chair was made in Europe circa 1880- 1900 but it may be a lot older. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The chair has No Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the chair stands upright, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the impressed marks are still legible although as the chair is a used antique it does have the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a good clean would enhance it gr
