This is simply a beautiful. Ornate, hand carved oak dining table made in the Jacobean/Elizabethan era style. It comes complete with 6 matching chairs, one of which is a captain's chair. It has been extremely well cared for, after all it's over a hundred years old! The bottom of the table top has been painted black, so i cannot find any markings that might indicate who made it, or the exact year. It has been reenforced with some sturdier brackets underneith. It's in fantastic shape. Two of the chairs are not featured in the pictures, but are included. The seats will need to be recovered as the threading is coming apart, but all the oak is solid and beautiful. I am delighted to offer for your consideration this lovely set of hand carved early 19c walnut French style Victorian chairs. I am not sure if they came from England or not. Since the estate sale had mostly English, Irish, Italian and French imported antiques throughout. They are continental, as to the best of my knowledge. I have seen alot of Victorian era furniture, but not like these. I am calling them Victorian; however they seem to be a bit more Georgian than that. Who's guess? Every country had their own sense of style and identification at different times. Now the chairs are good sized. NOT small like Victorian. The backs are 38" high, a good 5 inches higher than Victorian. The seats are very ample, being just shy 19 inches wide and the depth ... morebeing 17 1/2 inches deep. From floor to seat is 19 1/2" not the Victorian chairs of 17. The walnut frame and carvings are heavy and sturdy and of course hand done. The patina is original and beautiful. There are no smoke smells or animal stains or smells as well. I have my own building just for my antiques and never buy furniture that smells or was abused. Antique Hoosier Style Expandable Dining Table with 4 Chairs- Needs Restoration
For sale I have this antique Hoosier style dining room set from the early 1900s. It has been passed down through the family many times but now in storage. Overall it's in good restorable condition. With lovely decorative painted color accents, all in a medium brown finish. It does have a few condition issues but could immediately be used if desired. It measures approximately 51 inches long on top by 35 in. across. It however when all wood leafs are in place be expanded to 73 inches in length. The finish is flaking away in places but the design work remains. All the screws in the table could use tightening and it does have a few cracks here and there but as as I said before it is usable. It is missing one of the wood support decorations. One of the chairs has tape on it and a crack on it and is a little rickety. I believe it is made of ... moreoak? I have left it the table untouched and ready for restoration. This is definite worthwhile project to use everyday, or could even be painted to create a one of a kind work of art! The cane back rests are all original(four of the seat canes are new caning, one back side chair caning with small hole. The table without skirtless leaves is a round 60" with all 4 leaves added it extends to 9'4" 112" There are four 13" wide leaves in wood storage case, and fitted covers, included. Probably during the end of the 19th century or the first years of the 20th Century. The precision and pride in the chairs is clear, each exhibiting a great weight from the unnecessarily thick primary and secondary woods. The crest rails are wonderfully carved with a centermost acanthus motif that flows directly into the somewhat gothic formation of the pierced splat back. The ears of the crest rail curl back with thick reeding, making a smooth transition into the molding of the stiles and consistent with the molding of the straight legs. The seats are deeply and comfortably stuffed under a yellow damask that, in our opinion, ... moreremains in excellent condition with only minor flaws- we would personally not change the upholstery, but that is a matter of personal taste. The back legs are backswept, giving the side profile a fine consistent curve while lending incredible strength and stability to the form. The four legs are locked in place with a box-stretcher that tenons directly into each leg. For anyone passionate about this style looking for a very fine set of chairs to be actively used in a formal dining room. These are a wonderful find indeed. 1930's Antique Mahogany dining set, handmade table and 8 chairs
This one-of-a-kind set of a gorgeous mahogany dining table and 8 chairs that my great-grandfather had commissioned in the early 1930's. The table stands on 2 pedestals. Each with w/3 brass clawed feet. With the help of 2 leaves(included) the table expands to 12 feet in length! It is in EXCELLENT condition. The chairs are as follows: There are 8 chairs total. 6 regular and 2 for the head/foot of the table and they have arms. They are 100% hand made from the strongest mahogany, I've been sitting on these chairs for as long as I can remember(about 35 years) and they don't even creak! Notice the intricate carving on the tops of all the chair backs, it's unbelievable! This set should not be passed on. It's a beautiful, original design and you will not find anything like it, anywhere!

It's an extremely beautiful. Well-made and well taken care of set. It's light and petite versus the older massive types. SO it can easily accomodate the smaller dining room built today. The actual date of the furniture is believed to be 1920's- 1930's. The current owners state that this was originally purchased from a very rich family in Cincinnati. OH. The table is 30" high. 34" wide, and 58" long without the leaves extended. It has 2 end self-storing leaves- each leaf being 19" Hence, with one leaf extended is ... more7" and with both extended is 96" or 8 feet long. The four side chairs are 16-1/2" wide and 16-1/2" deep. While the two larger end chairs are 22-1/4" wide by 18-1/2" deep. All have upholstered seats. The server/buffet is 33" high. 37" long and 18" deep. It contains storage compartments. The glass fronted china cabinet is 57-1/2' high. 37" wide, and 15" deep. Below the display area is a storage drawer for tablecloths, etc. The chairs and table have"787" and Russmore stamped.assume this is the model number and pattern name. The set was manufactured by the Grand Rapids Chair company of Grand Rapids. Michigan. That company was founded in 1872 and primarily produced chairs until 1880. After that date they then began to produced complete sets and"ash" was their popular wood with carved panels and heavier moldings. This is in good condition with wear for a dining room set of this age. One leaf will need minor adjustments to the retracting mechanism.
