Antique Quarter Sawn Oak Adjustable Swivel Armless Desk Chair
Up for sale is a wonderful vintage/ antique Straight Cut and Quarter Sawn Oak Adjustable Height Swivel Desk Chair. This is a Great Looking Chair and is in very nice original condition. The back rest is adjustable as is the height of the seat. The seat swivels/ spins easily and smoothly. It is in Overall Very Good Condition as you can see from the pics. The wood is quarter sawn oak and its in great shape. There are no real damages and wear is light. I notice one bolt missing from where the backrest Post Cast Iron Lower section attaches on to the base section- shown in the last pic. You will need to replace this bolt to help ensure safety and so you do not cause damage. If I have time I will replace it myself- depends on my schedule. The seat has a minor water stain. It has a good clean original finish. The lower bolt on the backrest post looks ... moreto be an old replacement- not the original. Great Looking Smaller Size- Strong and Sturdy- Very Well Constructed. The seat measures approx 16.5" x 16.5" and when in its lowest position. It stands approx 20-1/4 from the ground to the seats top. The casters are newer, not the old originals. When I package- I will remove the backrest post section to help make it easier to fit in the box. There is a small cast iron section that attaches on to the lower part where the bottom of the post fits onto the base section. this is shown in pic 10 where its attached. I will put this small cast piece in a small box inside the larger box. It will take me a few days to package the chair and a few more to get it to FedEx for shipment. I live in the sticks and the nearest FedEx is 20 miles. Wonderful condition for it's age. Rolling. Swivel Chair with Tilting Backrest Unsure if it has been restored or just well taken care of. Bottom is missing two out of four 1/4 round pieces that go around the base near the legs(see photos) The wheels do not seem to roll that smoothly and may have been removed and not put back on properly. There is a little wear to the back on one side(see photos) and some light tape marks on the front back where a tag was attached in the sun for a few hours. The auction is for an Antique Quartersawn Oak Adjustable Swivel Chair. It has original finish with nice color. Chair does have wear to legs. Top back edge, and top of arms. Wear to wood and finish on base is probably from feet rubbing on it. Could probably be touched up by someone who knew what they were doing or refinished. It is useable the way it sits now. A lovely example of a by gone era. This may in fact be late 19th century. But I strongly suspect it's very early 20th century. It's cast-iron and Oak. Quite heavy for it's size. As seen in the photos, Lettering appears as"Eclipse" 5" twice per side& Cleveland" The seat and desk heights are fully adjustable by a range of about 6 1/2" It must have been touched up or restored at some point with flat black paint, because it has no sign of being adjusted. Other marking in a circle: T Kundtz Cleave O" and further numbers"5& 6 LB" The desktop is about 19-1/2" x 12" for scale. The height of the highest point of the desktop, as it is shown, is about 24" It's quite a nice piece for an early collector. Just that glue line is the only really flaw. Here is a very rare chair in good condition. This is a 1876 patent. It's built in 1896. It has 2 zinc bolt heads with the patent date and the manufacturer. It has adjustable height. It swivels and tilts. I have a certificate from the company from around 1977 authenticating the chair and I will get a photo on later. It's has been refinished back in 1975, it's tight and solid. It has the old tack holes around the frame from a leather cover which was not original. The seat part of the wicker is sagging a little bit. I don't know if you can tighten the seat. This should be in a museum. It has a cast iron or steel subframe. This is carved mahogony and the upper is one solid piece about 10 foot long. I am not a furniture expert.
