DESK Elaborate hand carvings throughout the entire desk include 2 beautiful ladies protruding from sides of desk. There are 5 carved open compartments for organizing and a hidden drawer that opens the full length of the desk with 4 divided sections inside. The top center includes a compartment that incases the original clock. On the lid is a hand carved cupid. Underneath the desk is a paper disposal original period brown velvet sack with a hanging cord attached to a lovely ivory pearl stone set within a bronze circular ring with designs. A walnut wood weight is attached. The desk is in very ... moregood aged condition without repairs. There are two tips missing from the delicate finials located on left side underneath the desk and on the right side bottom between the legs. You will need to really search in the pictures because they are very hard to find. The desk measures 52" high x 34" width x 21" depth. This is Italian workmanship from the old days that can not be found in modern times. CUPID measuring 9" height and 6" at the widest part attached to the top that covers the compartment where the clock sits. Very good aged condition. CLOCK The clock has 3 different hand designs and incased in bronze? solid brass. The face is a natural cream ivory? porcelain with black Roman numerals. The face is aged with some hairlines but the numerals are bold without any color loss. The clock has 2 front legs and a weighted bronze pendulum that you can view from the photo. It does move side to side and I hear ticking but is in need of adjusting. The clock is original and fits perfect to view from a circular opening made for it within the desk. This very nice late1800s school desk will look great anywhere in your home. The bench seats folds up. The desktop has a hole for inkwell and a groove for pencils. Very nice ornate wrought iron legs add to the beauty. Inscribed on the leg are the patent dates from 1881. 1890, and 1891. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos but the words are much clearer than these pictures show. There are many uses for these school desks as a decoration or actual use in your house. I have seen some used as very nice plant stands. This desk is in great shape for it's age with some minor scratches and aging. Oak Hill Antique Vintage Wooden High Chair that converts into a Desk. Made in Fitchburg. Mass. Adorable Bear playing the drums. Good condition with the exception of a few minor issues as you can see in the pictures. The tray has a crack the entire length of the tray. The latch at the bottom is bent. But it really is unnecessary. Also, the wooden dowels on one said is not in all the way. I'm sure they could be pushed in but I would rather not be the one who does the repair. The bottom of the desk is in rough shape but the top is fine. This piece is very sturdy and well built. Local pickup would be best but I could mail it if necessary. 36 inches tall. It's marked'Chardlee- The Boston- 1896'it's from 1896 and has a great patina.there are nicks etc that gives it great character- see photos. The desk has a cubby hole for books that measures 17.75 wide. 8 inches deep and 4.5 inches tall.overall the desk measures 13.25 x 21 x 26.5 inches. The chair measures 13.75 by 14.5 and just over 28 inches tall. The chair and the desk are both adjustable. The base of both is cast iron and is a rusty color but they're sturdy.no damage from the rust. Both the desk and the chair can be bolted to the floor. Its hardware mechanically designed for daily office use made to last not throw away. It measures 33” H with seat adjustment all the way down. The seat is 17.75”H and is adjustable up to 19”H, the seat is 18” wide and 16” front to back, the base is 20” square. It weighs approx 35 lbs. Hard rubber casters were made in Evansville Indiana. Meiji period, the two part desk with an elaborate upper portion carved with a dragons and bird of prey amid Mount Fuji, dragon and cherry blossom carved doors. The lower writing desk with open worked carved apron and carved cabriole legs. The chair back is an elaborate carved bird of prey over a dragon wrapped erupting Mt Fuji. Circa Meiji Period- September 1868 through July 1912 The desk measures total of about 57-1/4" tall by about 48" across by about 29" deep The chair measures about 38-1/4" tall by about 20" wide by about 18" deep. Gunlocke Co, Wayland, NY. It is very solid and in the same condition now as when I got it, with normal wear as expected on such a piece. I was told it was probably made for a lady or teenager as a writing or study desk. I was never clear on the age until I did a web-search and came across the article below. This is an excerpt from the webpage which explains a bit about the maker of this piece: Townshend of Vermont antiqueshoppefl.com/archives/ftaylor/qa71.htm) As seen in The Antique Shoppe Newspaper, April 2007. The label in the drawer reads"Townshend" with an"h" Not Townsend. That opened up a whole new area of exploration since there is a town in Vermont named"Townshend" that was founded in the 1700's. The history of Townshend. Vermont began in 1753 with ... morea charter from King George II and is an interesting tale but not for here. While researching Townshend, Vermont I came across a reference to Townshend Furniture Company. A little further digging turned up an address and phone number for the company and within a few minutes I was talking to Steve Lott who, along with his wife Susie, currently owns Townshend Furniture Company on RT 30 in Townshend, Vermont. Steve told me the company was founded after World War II by a veteran who had an interest in mostly maple Colonial Revival furniture which was produced by the company until the 1960's when it was purchased by Steve's family. Steve confirmed that the paper label found in the drawer of the drop front desk was indeed from his company and was used by his predecessor in the 1950's and 1960's but is no longer in use. This is a great looking antique solid wood office style chair. The construction on this piece is phenomenal and it is both incredibly sturdy and well made and also very stylish. It has some wear here and there from age and use but overall looks great and works very well. It does not say a maker that I can see but is very similar Sikes office chairs I have seen. It measures measures 22 1/2" wide x 24" deep x 31" tall. The seat height is 18" but this is adjustable. Up for sale fresh from an estate in Massachusetts is an Outstanding Turn of the Century Gothic Victorian Carved Oak Hall/Desk Chair featuring a Mythological North Wind Face blowing a gust of Air. The chair has its original finish and is sturdy. The chairs finish needs no restoring or refinishing. A great original finish for the antique purist. It measures roughly 41 1/2" tall. 15 1/2" deep, and 15 1/2" at its widest point. It was made by The Michigan Chair Co. in Grand Rapids, Michigan, c.1910. Sterling Desk Company Antique Roll Top Desk with FREE Antique Chair
This is a gorgeous piece in overall good. Antique condition. I did some research on the Sterling Desk Company and determined that it was opened in Cedar Rapids, Michigan in the early 1900s, quite possibly 1909, and closed in 1917. When the roll top is closed there is a mechanism that locks all of the drawers, however the lock on the roll top itself is missing. This is a very large, heavy piece. Any potential buyer would need to consider this when picking up as there will be no help for loading. I have a rather large selection of antique wooded chairs varying in size. Style, and condition.
