Capable of seating six people comfortably when it is fully opened. The mahogany leaves are single solid boards with reeding along the edges that mirrors the legs, each hanging on original hand forged iron hinges to easily swing up and down. A flamed mahogany veneer completes the apron of the table. The table has six legs, an expensive feature that was time consuming and reserved for a more affluent client. It allows the table to remain firmly rooted while the leaves are extended, truly making it a fully functional dining table. The legs swing over knuckle joints formed of solid oak. In unison with the exterior of the table frame, this surrounding what appears to be pine secondary wood making up the inside of the table frame. These thick secondary woods are remarkably strong and allow the leg to remain in nearly untouched condition after nearly 200 years. The table rests over turned double-rings over sharp reeding, to terminate again in double ringlets over tapered feet. This is a very attractive example for collectors of American forms. Crafted in a distinct manner to that of John Needles. Needles is well known as an artisan with significant output in the Baltimore. Maryland area during the height of the American Classical period. Labeled and documented works by the shop of John Needles are typically accompanied by unusually strong and nearly triangular reeding on legs or pillars, typically in tables though also found in large cabinets and sideboards. He was most active in the years of 1810-48, where the majority of his twenty-four surviving documented forms are crafted. After serving a five-year apprenticeship on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with James Neale of Easton. Needles migrated to Baltimore in 1808 and after a brief apprenticeship under Edward Priestl

This set of 8 are all intact. Complete and in good condition. Someone has refinished the set in the last 10 years or so. They did a fair job on them. We have brought the chairs into the shop to make sure that they are all tight and sturdy. They chairs have quarter sawn oak. Straight grain oak, elm and maple on the cross spindles. They are finished in a medium oak that brings out the wonderful deep press on the design back. There are seven multi turn extra long spindles that give you a comfortable seat with a big bold rolled arm in solid oak that i s supported with 3 spindles and a large post. The scooped out seat provides ample comfort. It has multi turn cross stretcher triple cross stretchers for added strength and sturdiness. 20.5 inches wide. 17 inches deep, 44.5 inches high to the back, 29.5 inches high to the arms and 18.5 inches high to the seat. We scrounged up 8 more and this is our absolute LAST stack! These chairs dotted the sidewalks of cafes and outdoor bistros across Europe during the 1940's. Their industrial design was meant to endure the elements of weather. Including the holes in the seat bottoms that allow water drainage. They retain their original green paint and have been sealed to protect the beautiful finish for indoor or outdoor use. These would pair so nice with a large farm table! I have done absolutely nothing to these items. They are in as found condition and were stored years ago. From the original owner purchased in the 1960s. They are in amazing condition for their age. Chairs have some small scrapes and dings from being stored but otherwise teak is in gorgeous condition there are no breaks or cracks to any legs and no loose joints. Original leather upholster shows age from use and storage, the chairs where stored stacked upside down on each other and the leather bonded from the years and unfortunately peeled slightly when pulled apart. Flame mahogany, black lacquer Asian Dining set with complementary antique Queen Anne chairs. The table features two leafs for even more expansion and length and it is shown with only one leaf in it in the pictures. It also stands out and is especially beautiful with slight raised and carved in floral motif with some enameling type materials. It is an all wood table with no particle board being used whatsoever. The table top measures 66 inches long when fully collapsed and 84 inches with one leaf in it and 102 inches with both leaves in it. It has a depth of slightly over 44 inches and ... morestands 30 inches tall from the floor. Here's what I stated about this breathtaking set's condition: Black lacquer finish has been touched up in several areas. One leaf has long mark in wood. But I believe can be easily worked out with correct compound. Very heavy all wood furniture with no particle board. A couple of Queen Anne chairs have a slight wood split in them, but they are all very strong, sturdy, and stable and able to withstand substantial weight. One Queen Anne Chair has small cigarette hole in cover by one time guest, otherwise all are from smoke free home with no smoke or other odors. Queen Anne chairs have all been recently reupholstered with plush quality quilted fabric. Queen Anne Chairs are not original to table. Truly a magnificent set and showcase table that is rare and hard to find. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! No deep scratches or gouges, chips etc.just some random faint"spotting" It has two leaves which are easily removed, sliding mechanism works smoothly. Each of the leaves show a faint"circle" possible a watermark or? The solid Teak base legs have a few"dings" from 50 years of wear but only if you really look(far above average) It has 8 matching chairs that are in very ... moregood condition as well. 4 Of the chairs retain the Moreddi label, four have had it removed. No tears or issues with the fabric. Some you can tell were used more than others showing light finish wear but again, less than average wear on them. This is a beautiful set that has been well cared for and just needs a new home. The table comes with the set of matching 8 chairs as shown in the picture. We can safetly say this is the ultimate dining set and would last you for many generations. Hence becoming a great heirloom. I honestly hope the photos do this set some justice, it's certainly better in the flesh. When fully extended by the leaf system this seats 8 people more than comfortably and 10 easily. The table extends easily by the wind up mechanism where you insert the big handle in one hand(please see close up picture) and ... moreeverything is of course provided. Perhaps the main feature of the table is the fantastic marquetry inlay work on all surfaces. The patterns and designs include flowers. Vines, scrolls and leaves. If you consider the process to acheive this you can appreciate the skill, levels of craftmanship and time it would have taken. Each shape from the designs is cut from the softer fruitwoods(rose, apple etc) and then embedded into the main body of the walnut. You can see the walnut also is gorgeous and it has all just been repolished so the grain has come out. There are even marquetry inlay details on the sides of the table and to the octagonal legs. The legs are on wheels so this is easy to move around. This is a fine table. Offered in perfect condition and ready for home use right away. Then of course we have the set of 8 matching chairs- including two arm chairs and six side chairs. The chairs are solid and sturdy and very comfortable to sit on with the cushioned red fabric seats. These have just been reupolstered so are free from any previous owners smells including pets and smoke, always a bonus. Look at the wealth of marquetry inlay work on the chairs- even on the legs and front.

Up for auction are seven(7) solid walnut( I believe the wood to be walnut) barrel back chairs dating from the c. 1940s. Each chair is in the original found condition with no known breaks. Missing pieces or other damage. The wear is consistent and appropriate for the age and use. The barrel back of each chair has eight(8) vertical slats in it and each has arm rests. The seat portion has the saddle fit for a comfortable seating feature. Four of the chairs were made by the W.H. Gunlocke Chair Co. two(2) were made by the Johnson Chair Co. Wayland, N.Y. and the two remaining chaisr has no known maker marks on it. The approx.measurements of each chair are:32" H; W 23 3/4" at the arm rest; and 18" D. The oval table is 48" x 72" and comes with two leaves. Each 48" x 18" There are 6 side chairs and 2 captain's chairs. The top of the china cabinet features 4 glass doors with the two on either side having rounded fronts. There is glass shelving and a lighted mirror in the back to give the additional appearance of depth and to better display the fineries kept within.
