LIGHTING PAIR OF FRENCH LOUIS XV STYLE KINGWOOD PARQUETRY ECOIGNURES CABINETS Late 19th Century Item# 1404ULX14-A This is an exceptional pair of late 19th Century French Louis XV Style Kingwood Parquetry Veneered Ecoignures. Mottled cream and gray thick hand carved and finished original marble tops position on short dowels protruding from the top. This framed with neat rows of dovetails locking the golden oak top into the sides and corners of the case. A single door on each cabinet opens over original brass hinges to reveal a tidy interior with a pair of oak shelves, the front edges veneered to match the case; these shelves are easily removable, resting on original oak bars affixed in the interior with steel screws. We've removed the ... morelock to examine it for a signature- it does not have any markings, the entire piece hand cut and hand forged from brass, the rough filing and chiseling still evident in the interior of it. The gilt bronze mounts are quite fine: the top corners overlaid with a deep and intricate rococo motif of twisted acanthus leaves, the apron hosting a sprawling display of foliage with scattered blooms of flowers, the sabots acanthus in profile and curling tightly in beautiful little toes. We've removed a single sabot and a single upper corner mount to examine for identifying markings, neither of which was impressed by the founder. These are a wonderful selection crafted with a level of quality and attention to detail that competes with some of the best craftsmen of the era- they remain in lovely condition with an attractive patina preserved under later layers of wax on the mellow surfaces. Anyone passionate about fine French furnishings of the nineteenth century will be positively delighted by this fine pair. Take a look at the Radian website and you'll see what kind of deal this is. Buy one and get one free- and that's without the solid oak stage monitor cabinets. What I have here are two solid oak stage monitors with Radian 510/2 and Radian 510/2B-8 speakers inside. Both have the Radian QA-0007 crossovers and are 8 speakers. The 510/2B-8 speaker looks relatively new. The 510/2 speaker is an older version and I repaired a crack in the cone(done it many times) and a friend helped me fix a solder joint in the compression tweeter voice coil. I did order a new diaphram from US speaker for that compression tweeter at a cost of $85 and it will be sent with the set but you can't tell the repaired diaphram has been repaired. To have a pair is unheard of! Box have nicks and chips some cracks in the wood and some drawer knobs are missing. With nicks and chips in the paint. Bits of inlay missing on the sides and top, some cracks in the wood and one drawer knobs is missing, two other appear to have been replaced on one of the. Some of the bone panal have cracked as well. All this is typical condition for the age of the pieces. There also appears to be some discoloration and some rubbing to the inlay. Door does not close properly on box 1. Two of the doors are missing the glass. I have the frames(not shown in photo) but they will need replacement glass.
