Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? Slightly ovoid and wonderfully out of round on this early Bowl. Stands nearly 5 inches tall off the table and measures a huge 52 inches around the edge. Has a 1 3/4 inch wide incised collar and footed base. Very nice. Beautiful and in good condition with normal wear. Has early chop marks on this early primitive bowl. No chips or cracks! Has a great natural dark patina and fantastic turn lines. This would display great in your country setting and could be the perfect center piece for your table or counter. Mitred cornice, 2 glazed doors with curtain rails, panelled fall front with 2 drawers and 2 cupboards. In 2 sections for easy transport. Bequeathed to Jan Jordan. Gorgeous Antique Inlaid Burr Walnut Drawer with inlaid picture lidded compartments& key. I wish I had the bureau or cabinet for this one. It is exquisite. It is the drawer only but what a drawer with four lidded compartments. The lids are inlaid with various woods to make portraits of characters which seem to date this in the 17th or 18th Century. The lids have small white knobs. They in themselves are exquisite. The compartments all would be useful for a gaming cupboard with the cards and tokens fitting nicely in their lidded section or a collection of some sort. The joinery work of the drawer is antique in style and probably back up my estimate of the age. But they are still as strong as ever. There is no movement in the joints whatsoever. The only damage is the one cracked compartment lid shown which looks as though it has been mended ... morebut still strong and still attractive. The lock is very sturdy and has a key supplied which looks in character for the piece. It features three doors, each with its original shaped, bevelled mirrors with very large bevelled edges. It has an elaborate central carved plume feature to the top, making it a very tall and impressive piece. Internally, the armoire would be intended for predominantly hanging space, and would require a rod to be fitted for this purpose. The interior of the doors are beautifully finished and show the quality of the piece. The base of the armoire has three slides, providing extra storage. The armoire or wardrobe has a shaped skirt with lovely burr walnut decorative panels, and stands on pretty carved cabriole legs. This gorgeous armoire is beautiful to look at. Made from solid oak this lovely piece is hugely multi-functional and will work in any room you need storage in. And four(4) adjustable shelves inside with another drawer under one of the shelves. The finish is original and a good mid-brown colour with a lovely mellow patina which has developed over many years of loving use. There is a twin bolt lock which is still operable. This is a tall armoire with a height of 226cm(just under 8 foot) and is 107cm in width. The armoire is 57cm deep. The interior shelves each measure 96cm in length and are 38cm deep. This armoire is in good condition and the only issue is some spotting to the mirror. Which is so"in" today. It is possible that the back of the mirror has been replaced at some stage during its lifetime of approximately 115 years. However, age-appropriate wear and character marks should be expected. Constructed of oak. The Cabinet has floral carvings flanking the front edges with Lion Head Carvings to the top and bottom. The two drawers are also curved with carving that matches the top pediment. The upper section. With two glass panels in the doors is narrower than the base, and supported by turned carved supports. This French Oak 2 Height Cabinet has been well loved and used constantly, thus accounting for the lovely glow from the aged patina. Up for auction is this very rare antique Barossa Valley cedar bookcase dresser c1870 in totally original condition. This magnificent piece of Barossa Valley cultural heritage is beautifully proportioned and would stand proudly in your living room. Dining room, study or library. It's solidly constructed from red cedar. With baltic pine secondary timber in the shelving, back boards and drawer internals. As you can see from the photos, it's always been looked after and treasured, with it's condition basically the same as the day it was built over a century ago. It features two upper glazed doors. With original poured glass panes, secured by a brass lock with a decorative hand-tooled leather escutcheon and original key. There are three shelves in the top section and two under-hanging smaller trinket drawers. The top section separates ... morefrom the bottom section for ease of transport. The lower section has two ogee-fronted drawers. Flanked by two hand-carved cedar corbels, sitting above two paneled doors. The original lock and tooled leather escutcheon are also present. On auction I have a corner display cabinet See attached pictures. It has a top display cabinet and an enclosed bottom cabinet. The glass display area has beveled edge glass. A very nice looking china cabinet. It measures 192cm high x 76cm wide. I am unsure how old it is or what type of wood it is made from. We are in the process of clearing out a relatives estate.
