Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable and I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. This listing is for a nice vintage cabinet by the Yawman and Erbe It is a one-drawer example. With the original brass drawer pull, and brass tag that reads"Y and E" It has the original adjustable sliding card holder in the drawer. Everything operates smoothly, the back however is missing(see picture) and there is some paint splatter on the front. These files were in common use in the early part of the 20th century in libraries, schools, and offices and were built to last. This example has wonderful quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and quality dovetailed construction with a few small cracks on the sides from over the years, but does not affect the overall condition. Antique Library card catalog. Made by the Library Bureau Sole Makers Company. Made of oak. Appears to have never been refinished. Shows years of loving wear. Please see all the pictures for a better idea of condition. There are 3 drawers with 6 areas for cards. The drawers are unlike most cabinets and are open rather than seperated into cubbies. This actually makes it much more usefull than most other cabinets. Only one drawer still retains the inside hardware. All drawers retyain the original outside hardware. One very interesting thing about this cabinet are the hand holds that were carved into the sides. This cabinet was apparently moved alot so the hand holds were added after production to aid in moving the cabinet. Normally I would say this would hurt the value but in this case they were probably added around 100 years ago and I feel ... morethis actually makes it even more interesting. I wish I knew the story of why they were added. Possibly a portable library. Think about it. The card catalog measures 61" tall, 33" wide, and 17" deep overall. Each drawer measures 3 7/8" tall, 5 5/8" wide and 16 3/4" deep. It is stacked in interlocking sections and includes: stand, double sliding book shelves, two 2' x 5' sections, one 3' x 5' sections, and a top cap. Each 2' x 5' section has 10 drawers and the 3' x 5' section has 15 drawers for a total of 35 drawers. The brass pulls have patina to them and all the hardware is intact. This is a great antique 2-drawer card catalog! Both the cabinet and the drawer fronts are beautifully dovetailed. Both drawers slide easily and can be completely removed from the outside cabinet. Outside measurements are approximately. 141/2 inches deep. 13 inches wide, and 5 inches tall. The brass plate saying"Library Bureau Sole Makers" is in really good condition as are the brass drawer pulls. A metal adjustable card-slide is included in each drawer. This cabinet shows honest age, but is in nice overall condition. I am not an antique dealer and I only have this piece because it has been in my family as long as I can remember. Really nice antique 4 drawer Maple wood library card catalog has great looks to be hand done dovetailing. The cabinet is 9 1/2 inches tall and 13 1/2 inches wide and 17 inches deep and weighs 27 pds. The drawers hold 3 x 5 cards. In good condition other than the rods that go in the bottom of the drawers are gone in the drawers but that makes it nice that the standard 3 x 5 card will fit it and there are some scratches. Tape residue, few small hairlines on the top, rubs, stains, average wear for its age. Did not find a manufacturers' name on this but in one of the drawers were some numbers as you can see in picture 8. These cabinets are good for a lot of things and look great. Item is in fair condition with minor surface scratches. Finger joint construction. Back finger joint had lid bracket pulled out and is reflected in picture. Lid has a split next to finger joint damage. Look at picture. Their is damage to it. I had this in my vintage office for display and worked very well as the damage is hidden. Someone put a nail for a hinge pin as noted in picture. Still retains the nice Weis logo. 13 inches long by 5 3/4 inches wide by 4 3/8 inches in height. Here is a really nice antique tiger oak library Index 4 drawer Card Catalog made by Amberg File& Index. Genuine. Circa early 1900's. Nice aged patina. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. I am not sure all are the original drawer pulls-the bottom 2 are the same, but the other 2 are different. All 4 drawers have label holders. Drawers open and close smoothly. The original block of wood inside the drawer remains in all 4 drawers. It measures approx. 15 1/2 inches x 15.5 inches and 11.75 tall. Nice, well built. Weighs about 26 lbs. Shows ordinary wear, dings, markings etc. Very good overall condition. There is a half torn off label with a zip code from Rittman, Ohio on the side. Very nice collectible!

This antique Arts& Crafts/mission-style card catalog is made of dark quartersawn oak and is sideboard height. With 36 drawers. It measures 41&3/4" wide, 16&7/8" deep, and 38" high. The wood has a beautiful grain pattern. I've cleaned other antique card catalogs with alcohol to remove the old shellac and then treated the wood with jojoba oil. But I never got around to doing so with this one, and I'm sure it will look even better once that's done. I did clean it with a natural spray cleaner when I first purchased it, but since then have only dusted it. As shown. It has typical scratches and wear, but considering its age I'd say this is in very good condition. All the drawers function properly, although as shown, four are replacements in a lighter-stained oak and of those two will need new hardware. ... moreThey fit perfectly, as they came from another antique card catalog from UNC's Wilson Library that was the same model and age. These lighter-stained drawers could of course be re-stained to match the others. Four brass divider knobs are missing. One of the drawers has an old inkstain at the back as shown in last photo. The thick, solid legs and beautifully grained oak veneer top give it a great Arts& Crafts/Mission look that help to date this to the very early twentieth century. I've owned this for a couple of years and for some reason thought it was a Shaw Walker catalog, but I've forgotten why I assumed this, and ... moreI haven't been able to find any manufacturer's stickers or stencils. As shown. It has light scratches and wear and a few small dings here and there, but considering its age and use this is in very good condition. It was well cared for in its original home, UNC-Chapel Hill's Wilson Library, a special collections library mainly used by grad students and researchers, where food and drink are not allowed. All the drawers function properly and the insides are clean and have no significant wear. Four of the drawers are replacements with lighter-stained oak fronts. They do fit perfectly, as they came from another antique card catalog of the same model and approximate age. These replacement drawers had white stickers in each corner, as well as alligatored varnish. I removed the finish and scrubbed off the old stickers, then conditioned the wood with jojoba oil, but did not apply a new protective finish. If I'd had some on hand I would have used a natural beeswax/jojoba paste that I've used on other furniture with good results—the beeswax gives a hard protective finish to the wood. This item is really hard to let go. It is a beautiful 18 drawer library card catalog. It was the second catalog I've ever bought and really is what got me into collecting these beautiful pieces of history. This item is perfect for an introductory piece. It is not nearly as large as some of the other pieces out there so it doesn't cause space issues. WC Heller has been around since 1891. They are an Ohio based furniture company that is still producing library furniture today. They are very well known amongst collectors due to their incredible craftsmanship. I am not certain the age of this piece and I have honestly never seen another one and. Believe me, I have looked. Each of the 18 drawers are stamped with the makers mark. I initially bought this item with the intention of adding legs and making it a really neat table for next to ... moremy couch and love seat but the piece is so beautiful. I just couldn't do it. The measurements are approx 19"x13"x9" The drawers are complete with some normal wear and tear type scratches on the top and sides but it is in very good condition considering it's age and that really speaks to the craftsmanship. ANTIQUE OAK 2 DRAWER LIBRARY CARD CATALOG STORAGE CABINET-STEREOVIEW ORGANIZER
This is a very well made golden oak 2 drawer library card catalog with brass handles and brass name plate holder. Perfect size to hold antique stereoviews and to keep them organized. This cabinet is 12" deep by 11" wide by 11.5" tall. There is 4.5" rail to rail inside each drawer and 10" deep. Each drawer has a metal plate that slides up and back to adjust the storage space. This keeps everything in place and upright. The cabinet has a nice finish on top and sides. There are some scratches on back side. There are also some chips in the wood between drawers. This is a 4 drawer antique oak file. Made around 1908-1915 by the Library Bureau company.It has patent dates marked on the adjustable card supports, with the newest ones from May, 1908. The drawers hold 3" by 5" index cards or photos. The file has original brass pulls, and the manufacturers"Library Bureau" tag. One of the card supports has disappeared over the years, but the drawer can still be used for storage.The condition of this card catalog file is really nice.
