LIGHTING Fine American Federal Inlaid Walnut Corner ... moreCupboard Possibly Shenandoah Valley Virginia or Pennsylvania c. 1800-20 With unusual thin scrolled Broken Arch Pediment with Pinwheel Inlay Item# 130311YPP03 This is an outstanding American Federal Corner Cabinet of either Pennsylvania or Southern origin with ties to related forms in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The broken-arch pediment is striking and unusual. The thin arms lifting from the molded top in a cresting wave, curling into fine inlaid pinwheel rosettes; these opposing waves of the pediment flank a fine inlaid pointed urn finial raised on a plinth base of conforming inlay. The arched door is crafted with through-tenon joinery, the fragile corners supported with butterfly dovetails on the inside(possibly later) it features twelve glazed panels framed in scratched-bead walnut astragals, opening on original hinges to reveal a shelved interior. Each shelf is channeled to display plates and platters, the front edge of each shelf molded, one shelf crafted to hold utensils in the front edge. The case has outstanding proportions. These eased by the thick molding around the waist and the inlaid band around the shoulders- this easily divides the visual planes of the piece into graduated levels that are easier for the eye to digest. The bottom of the case has a pair of solid walnut doors framed in a matching inlaid band, each embellished with inlaid shield escutcheons to match the arched door, these opening to reveal a shelved interior. The entire case rests over original bracket feet. The construction of the case is very fine. The pair of stiles on either side of the case joined in some kind of hidden dovetail or butt-joint, running from just an inch above the ground through the molding of the crest. Made in England. Circa 1980 Bevan Funnel Yew wood Gothic arched doors Includes key Excellent condition, There are several unusual features to this lovely corner cabinet. First. The wood used is yew wood. Yew wood is a native English wood that is not common, but has many of the same features as maple. The second unusual feature is that we know who made this corner cabinet. Usually English furniture does not include a maker’s mark. On the inside of the lower door is the mark for Bevan Funnel, a very prestigious English furniture firm still in business today. We have dated this particular model to sometime around 1980. From the Gothic arches on the glass doors to the sturdy bracket feet. No attention to detail was spared on this corner cabinet. Inside the top section are two adjustable wooden shelves. They adjust via a brass pin and hole system. The lower cabinet contains one wooden shelf. Both cabinet doors lock and one key is included. A moulded cornice crowns the top while a recessed panel door with trim really shows of the attractive qualities of yew wood. The fact that after over 30 years this yew wood corner cabinet is still in excellent condition is a testament to the quality of skill and care that went into its construction. It has survived with no noticeable wear and would make an excellent addition to any room of your home! This yew wood corner cabinet would look great in any corner of the home! Plenty of display and storage space that all locks with included key. Here is the label from Bevan Funnel. On the inside of the lower door. The moulded cornice looks great on top. Mid 1800's Poplar Wood Corner Cupboard - Country Antique Wooden Display Cabinet
This is a great early corner cupboard from the middle 1800's. Made of mixed woods with poplar being dominate. The bottom doors have punched tins panels for a unique look. I have owned this one for a long time and we did change a couple things. The crown molding at the top is a replacement. My son used the big cupboard as an entertainment center and removed the center shelf in the top. The interior is painted white and the middle drawer is original and functions well. Made with square nails and is a really great old piece that you just can not find anymore. Measures 82" tall by 47" wide by 33.5" deep and when you measure it from the corner of your room out to either side it is 36.5" at the crown and 34.5" at the case area. The distance from the front center of the cabinet straight back to the corner is 28 inches, with each of the side walls measuring 19 inches back to the corner. English Chippendale Broken Arch Hanging Corner Cabinet or Cupboard Blind Doors. Late 18th Century c. 1780-1800 Item# 130001GHP27 This is a very fine solid mahogany English Chippendale Hanging Antique Corner Cabinet or Cupboard with a Broken-Arch Pediment. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century c. 1780-1800. Of outstanding construction. It features thick planed and carved crown molding along the Broken-Arch, raising the visual plane of the cabinet quite intensely to culminate in a turned finial over a plinth scroll cut of the solid. The sides of the case bevel to soften the edge before joining the wall, these flanking two blind doors. The doors are constructed using a through-tenon mortised frame locking in the inset chamfered panels. Each with shapely notched crests and edged by cockbead molding, both functioning smoothly on ... moreoriginal brass hinges. Inside of the doors, the original hardware remains untouched, the hand forged iron latch on the left door locking the panel in place, the original steel lock on the right door still in place. The interior is four shelves, all but the second-to-top shelf backed by a silk upholstery. The back of the case is entirely dovetail construction. The quarter-sawn oak secondary woods locking into the top and bottom boards without the use of nails or screws. Over the years, this has placed some strain on the back-most corners, as the oak is not thick enough to create an indestructible joint, resulting in some light cracking and looseness where the two boards come together. The cabinet is meant to be mounted using multiple screws through the backboards, coupled with the original hanging tabs at the top of the cabinet on both sides. The cabinet is not too heavy so this maybe me a medium density wood. The top of the cabinet has 2 small pieces of wood that have been replaced. There must have been some significant damage at some point that needed to be repaired. Also. There is a very minor repair to the wood where the hinges of the door are attached. It looks as though someone swung the door open too fast and partially popped them at one point. This area has been repaired and is not really that noticeable unless you are looking for it. There is one shelf inside that is thinner and in two pieces. It holds things securely. When we lived in Vermont it was given an inperson pre-auction estimate in 2006 of 18K to 22K by the owner/appraiser of a prominent New England auction house. We were not ready to part with it at that time. Today corner cabinets are not bringing what they use to but still have great value. I bought this beautiful 1800's primitive beaded board cupboard 20 years ago in a little bakers shop near Golden. Colorado. I often think of the many hands that have open these doors and the uses it has had. From days of pies it held, to my once little boys dinosaurs and toys, in later years we used as a pantry, it is one of my favorite pieces. I hate to let it go. It is one of those items I will always miss. But due to health reasons we are downsizing and we cannot take it with us. This corner cabinet is 57" H x 56 1/2" L on the front x 27" W on the two sides. Antique Hanging Corner Cupboard Cabinet Blue Paint Mirror Primitive SE PA to start a new paragraph use- This is a charming old"make do" fancy piece out of Southeastern Pennsylvania. It's a heavy piece and the frame looks to be constructed out of second hand hard wood crating boards; the boards are 3/4" thick. There is old paint on it. Looks to be several coats of paint on the front from over the years, none of them new. There is plaster molding trim framing the outside edges of the front and framing the door opening. That's what makes it a"fancy" make do piece) This piece is solid and sturdy. There is light chipping of the paint on the front exposing some of the plaster in the molding. And overall age to the painted surface, the door closes easily but there is a slight gap at the top, there are also some gaps ... morein the boards. The mirror is old and has some losses on the back, but all are small and it's perfect with this piece. The mirrored glass is beveled on one side only opposite the door handle and was probably taken from an old mirror. I'd never replace it. Fancy metal pull that was also painted over at some point. These type pieces are getting very hard to find and this came up in a small shop here in PA. It's a one of a kind. This is not a typical offering from us, but I just couldn't resist it. And it's been confirmed as fabulous from all the"ooooh and ahhhh" comments since I brought it home, even from members of my household who arent' into antiques so much. The unboxed weight is about 22lbs(shipping weight about 27lbs) Measures Approximately 27 inches tall, the front is 16 inches across, the two back side boards are 12 inches across forming a"V" in the back, the cabinet is 10 inches deep at the widest point from the center of the"v" to the front, with one small shelf inside. The bottom is flush, and this will stand on the floor as shown or could be displayed on top of a table or other piece you may have to complement it.

Up for bidding is an antique primitive pine corner cupboard. It is likely that it was built into a house and the back was put on later. The backing is 3 1/2 inch wide tongue and groove boards. They have been painted green on the back but are white on the inside of the cabinet with one corner free of paint. There original structure has been sanded to remove lots of the chippy pain t. It reveals the various paint colors that have accumulated over time with the most recent tan over white over light green over dark green. The two metal butterfly hinges and slide lock appear to be original and very secure. I suspect the longer hinge at the bottom of the door was added later. But I am not sure. Vintage Antique Cherry Corner Cabinet Cupboard 45" tall,50" wide,Primitive
This is a VERY RARE and unique corner cabinet or cupboard that I purchased in 1989 in Lawrenceburg. Indiana, then sanded and re finished. We used it as a corner cabinet for years and it has been in storage the last year, the only work it might need is to re fit the rail the doors slide on, about a $12 part. It is sturdy and solid, and not light, so LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. No shipping. East Side of Cincinnati. If you bid and win. It needs to be paid for and picked up within a reasonable time. Having just been restored by my very experienced restorer(50 years) it is consequently in excellent condition and is ready for immediate use in the home or for retailing in a prestigious showroom or fair. The second thing that strikes you about this cupboard is the colour and patination. The cabinetmaker that made this cabinet chose some very good quality timbers for the job. This has resulted all these years later in a cupboard with a gorgeous soft rich warm colour and patination that can only be attained by mahogany of this age and quality. Thirdly are the proportions. HUGE antique walnut corner cupboard w paned glass doors above solid wood doors
This is a gorgeous corner cupboard that measures 78" X 52" The glass in the two upper doors is wavy which attests to its age. The finish is smooth and there are no defects anywhere. The hardware is original. There are two shelves in the upper door area and one in the lower door area. The cupboard is part of my parents' estate. They always prized this piece after years of being antique collectors and dealers. Dad lit the interior with mini lights to highlight his display of historical china. The buyer will be responsible for picking this up and it will require some men who are very careful and strong. If I were buying it. I'd have insured professional movers handle it. This is the nicest corner cupboard of its type that I've ever seen. You won't be disappointed.
