Antique 3 Drawer Oak Card Catalog Office Drafting File
This is a great 3 drawer oak cabinet or file. This file has what I believe to be the original finish and looks great. With wonderful quartersawn tiger oak woodgrain patterns. The dimensions are approx 10" wide by 14 3/4" deep by 13 1/2" tall. The inside of the drawers masure 7 1/4 x 3 1/4 x 12 1/2 deep. There are a few rubs and a couple scratches from years of use. This listing is for a nice vintage cabinet by the Yawman and Erbe It is a one-drawer example. With the original brass drawer pull, and brass tag that reads"Y and E" It has the original adjustable sliding card holder in the drawer. Everything operates smoothly, the back however is missing(see picture) and there is some paint splatter on the front. These files were in common use in the early part of the 20th century in libraries, schools, and offices and were built to last. This example has wonderful quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and quality dovetailed construction with a few small cracks on the sides from over the years, but does not affect the overall condition. Antique Library card catalog. Made by the Library Bureau Sole Makers Company. Made of oak. Appears to have never been refinished. Shows years of loving wear. Please see all the pictures for a better idea of condition. There are 3 drawers with 6 areas for cards. The drawers are unlike most cabinets and are open rather than seperated into cubbies. This actually makes it much more usefull than most other cabinets. Only one drawer still retains the inside hardware. All drawers retyain the original outside hardware. One very interesting thing about this cabinet are the hand holds that were carved into the sides. This cabinet was apparently moved alot so the hand holds were added after production to aid in moving the cabinet. Normally I would say this would hurt the value but in this case they were probably added around 100 years ago and I feel ... morethis actually makes it even more interesting. I wish I knew the story of why they were added. Possibly a portable library. Think about it. Its very interesting and personally I feel since it was done so long ago it adds to the history and interest of this wonderfull piece.We will ship anywhere in the Continental United States fully insured for 35.00. The card catalog measures 61" tall, 33" wide, and 17" deep overall. Each drawer measures 3 7/8" tall, 5 5/8" wide and 16 3/4" deep. It is stacked in interlocking sections and includes: stand, double sliding book shelves, two 2' x 5' sections, one 3' x 5' sections, and a top cap. Each 2' x 5' section has 10 drawers and the 3' x 5' section has 15 drawers for a total of 35 drawers. The brass pulls have patina to them and all the hardware is intact. This is a great antique 2-drawer card catalog! Both the cabinet and the drawer fronts are beautifully dovetailed. Both drawers slide easily and can be completely removed from the outside cabinet. Outside measurements are approximately. 141/2 inches deep. 13 inches wide, and 5 inches tall. The brass plate saying"Library Bureau Sole Makers" is in really good condition as are the brass drawer pulls. A metal adjustable card-slide is included in each drawer. This cabinet shows honest age, but is in nice overall condition. I am not an antique dealer and I only have this piece because it has been in my family as long as I can remember. Designed to hold 3" by5" index cards or library Dewey Decimal System cards. All the original drawer sliding mechanisms, rods, and supports are still present and work perfectly. All original brass pulls and hardware are also present and in good condition. I believe it dates to before 1930. It is very tight and solid. All the drawers are metal except for the wooden face. The cabinet has some scratches and scuffs but I really like the way that makes it look antique. This piece would finish very nicely if that is your preference. Antique Yawman and Erbe Mfg Co Oak Dovetailed Single Drawer File Card Catalog. This is nice old library card filing drawer made by Yawman and Erbe Mfg. Co. in Rochester. N.Y. It's in original"as found" condition. The box is fully dovetailed on both the top and bottom as well as the drawer itself. The inside mechanism is complete with the slider that holds cards upright. It's just right for 3 x 5 recipe cards which is what I used if for. It works smoothly and is nice and solid. The length is about 17"s x 6-3/4" wide by 4-7/8th tall. Has all the original seperate card dividers A-Z most look to be in great condition.

This beautiful oak card catalog box was made by Gaylord Bros. Inc. and its dovetail oak construction really makes this piece stand out. It's only two drawers. So it can find a home anywhere in your house. It would make a particularly nice recipe box. The drawers also have dovetailed construction and slide open easily. All hardware is brass and has been hand polished to a high shine, including the screws. The label on the back is also polished brass. The oak appears unfinished and has been lightly treated with natural oils to preserve the aged quality of the wood and give it a beautiful shine. This box is in great shape with no major damage. There are a few thin vertical cracks in the sides that I see a lot of in older pieces with dovetail construction. Really nice antique 4 drawer Maple wood library card catalog has great looks to be hand done dovetailing. The cabinet is 9 1/2 inches tall and 13 1/2 inches wide and 17 inches deep and weighs 27 pds. The drawers hold 3 x 5 cards. In good condition other than the rods that go in the bottom of the drawers are gone in the drawers but that makes it nice that the standard 3 x 5 card will fit it and there are some scratches. Tape residue, few small hairlines on the top, rubs, stains, average wear for its age. Did not find a manufacturers' name on this but in one of the drawers were some numbers as you can see in picture 8. These cabinets are good for a lot of things and look great. This file is a great example of the quality American craftsmanship of the first half of the twentieth century, with beautiful oak woodgrain patterns, dovetailed drawer construction, and raised arts and crafts side panels.This particular file also has nifty brass rods that allow the top to come off in case you have other units that you would like to stack. It is a 4 drawer cabinet that has the original slide adjusters in each drawer. It is dovetailed made as pictured. The cabinet measures 19 ¾” x 16” and 13 ¾” tall. It is in great shape as pictured. It is solid oak except for the back which is a veneer. There are some chips in the back veneer as pictured… nothing big. On one side. The wood has split, but this a minor cosmetic issue as the joints remain solid. There is an ERIE sticker on top, and we think it is the Erie Railroad. Paneled back, quality workmanship throughout, two of the draws have the original inserts that would be adjusted front or back depending on how full the draw was, these inserts are both labeled"Library Bureau" with patent dates listed for New York/ Chicago, Boston/ Washington, and Philadelphia/ London, the dates range from March 15, 1892, to May 26, 1903. Here is a great Antique Library Bureau Solemakers card file. The file is under 16 inches long without the handles. Over 14 3/4 inches wide and 5 3/4 inches tall. The outside of the file shows a little wear but inside of the drawers looks great. The file is in great shape, please let the pictures speak for themselves. ANTIQUE vintage Weis index. FINGER JOINT WOOD LIBRARY POST FILE CARD CATALOG BOX
Item is in fair condition with minor surface scratches. Finger joint construction. Back finger joint had lid bracket pulled out and is reflected in picture. Lid has a split next to finger joint damage. Look at picture. Their is damage to it. I had this in my vintage office for display and worked very well as the damage is hidden. Someone put a nail for a hinge pin as noted in picture. Still retains the nice Weis logo. 13 inches long by 5 3/4 inches wide by 4 3/8 inches in height. Looks to be missing the idex card slide thingy. The inside cover or lid bracket is not attached. I think this is pine Ask Questions BEFORE BIDDING. THIS ITEM IS DAMAGED BUT STILL WORKS AS A GREAT SHELF SITTER AS ALL DAMAGE IS IN BACK OF BOX.

Antique Tiger Oak Library Index Card Catalog 4 Drawer Amberg File & Index
Here is a really nice antique tiger oak library Index 4 drawer Card Catalog made by Amberg File& Index. Genuine. Circa early 1900's. Nice aged patina. Quarter sawn oak construction with dovetailed drawers. I am not sure all are the original drawer pulls-the bottom 2 are the same, but the other 2 are different. All 4 drawers have label holders. Drawers open and close smoothly. The original block of wood inside the drawer remains in all 4 drawers. It measures approx. 15 1/2 inches x 15.5 inches and 11.75 tall. Nice, well built. Weighs about 26 lbs. Shows ordinary wear, dings, markings etc. Very good overall condition. There is a half torn off label with a zip code from Rittman, Ohio on the side. Very nice collectible!

You are looking at an antique library card catalog file. It is made by Macey-Wernicke Co. Grand Rapids Michigan. It has six drawers, three of the drawers have the original sliding card holder piece, 3 do not. It has been refinished and has the wrong knobs; the original hardware is usually available on Ebay. It is quarter sawed oak with beautiful dovetailing. A beautiful old piece that will be easy to put back to original. It is about 13 1/2 wide, 14 deep and 12 1/2 tall. Hard to find size and in excellent condition, just needs the hardware replaced. Shipping will be $35 and will include insurance. No shipping outside of the US.

The lower left front edge of the case has a hairline. Character I call it, after 100 years or so of being around. It affects nothing and is cosmetic. See the last picture. Original solid brass handles. Dovetails on the housing and the drawers. One metal strap is missing from the base of the drawer along with the sliding wood separator. You always put a piece of paper on the bottom of this drawer to keep small things from falling through. Part of my collection of library card cabinets that I’ll be thinning out.
