This ice box has over 20 hand carved pieces on the two front doors, nice detailed lion head carvings and two large paw feet. All of these carvings were hand made by highly skill woodworkers in the 1890's. The columns on the sides are really nice oak rope carvings that are below each lion head and extends down to the top of each paw foot. Underneath the top ledge are unusual oak trim with heart style carvings on all three sides. The bevelled mirror is in great shape, no chips, scratches or hazeThis ice box is solid oak and has never been painted before. A lot of the ice boxes that you see listed were painted before and when finished, they have a washed out appearance from the paint still present in the grain of the wood. Antique carved oak Green man panel footstool Traditional furniture wood carving
An old footstool. With a carved Gothic panel top depicting the"Green Man" of English folklore. The panel looks quite a bit older than the legs. I suspect that the panel originally came from some other piece of furniture. And was converted into a footstool, perhaps some time in the 20th century? The top is three-quarters of an inch thick. And measures 14 1/2 inches x 6 1/2 inches Altogether a nice decorative piece. With a good traditional country theme. The edges of the top panel have clearly been scuffed and knocked quite a lot. Particularly along the edge which is the"bottom" of the picture- the long edge beneath the Green Man's chin. Condition: Good condition. With no major damage, but plenty of marks, scuffs and scrapes from normal use. The panel that forms the top of the stool appears to be considerably older than ... morethe base and legs. It stands well. With just a little play if you wiggle the legs. It is a perfectly adequate footstool. But I don't think it is quite solid enough to sit on. Charles Limbert Quarter-Sawn Oak Rocker in very good condition. The chair measures 34" tall. 26 1/2" wide, and 29" deep. Pegged throughout. Wood has a nice patina. The cushion is original, but the tag is loose from the cushion. Someone tried to reapply it with tape. The leather is new reupholstered. The rocker has a stamped sign under the bottom of the left arm. It is well worn and hard to see. The last 2 photos are the original tag from the cushion and the marking on the arm. Lot 4 Antique Oak Carved Claw Furniture Feet Legs
This auction is for a lot of 4 antique carved oak claw furniture legs. The large leg is from an oak table base and measures 10" x 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" It is missing a piece of wood but the carving is all intact. Picture 4& 5 show carved oak center leg from setee or server. It measures 5 1/2" x 2 5/8" x 3" high. It is all intact with a couple of very small chips to the carving. The last two pieces are a matching pair of carved oak legs most likely from a bow front china closet. They measure 7 1/2" tall and have a couple small chips to the carving and each leg shows some separation in the laminated oak. These are old salvaged pieces from late 1800's furniture.
