This stunning Western Secretary was first purchased in northern California Mining Town North and East of Sacrmento in the Gold country. It was brought from the East by covered wagon from maybe Pensylvania. I have owned it for over forty years and used it regularly for clothing storage and a bookcase. I had the drawers replace with new plywood box because you could not open them because the bottoms were warped. I realize that changes the value but you could not use the drawers and a piece of furniture has to be use full. The shelves in the upper bookcase are adjustable and the lock on the glass doors is original with a key to lock them. The drop down desk has many pockets and a drawer but the lock is missing. The bottom section of drawers do not lock but are on tracks so they open very easily and as stated above have been rebuild by plywood ... moreand are very serviceable. This item is located in Colorado near Durango in the Southwestern Four Corners area and would fit in a small truck. Antique Solid Oak Table Base or Pedestal Furniture Parts Restoration I’m baaaaack! I had the incredible opportunity to chaperone a school related trip to France. Germany and Belgium. It focused on American conflicts in WWI and WWII and it was heaven for a history lover like me. I was able to fit three items in my bag for you– look for them this week. I’m also still listing new items from my Indiana picking trip– lots of barn find and Amish farm finds from the two fellas that I visit every year. Enjoy! This is one of my favorites this week. I'm guessing that it was originally a table base- but you can make it a fabulous pedestal too. What I have is an antique. Solid heavy oak base with a killer dark patina. As you can see in my photos, the base actually is made up of two pieces of solid oak that fit together in the center. There's ... morea hole in the center for attaching them, and each piece has two more smaller holes for whatever it used to be mounted to. I have no hardware with these- what you see is what you get. It's interesting that the pieces are actually each made from two pieces of wood. The rounded bun feet being attached rather than cut all from the same piece of wood- see photo 10 for what I mean. This one is the most noticeable- but let me clarify, you really have to look closely to notice at all- and it's original to the making(not damaged and repaired- all 4 feet are the same) Each of the two pieces measures 15 1/8" long by 1 5/8" wide. Put them together, and there's 9 1/4" inches measuring inside foot to inside foot between the legs. It stands 3 1/2" tall. Put together, it weighs3 lbs. For shipping, I will take apart to make it easier and safer- all you'll need to do is slip the two pieces together. Excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's minor nicks, scratches and scrapes and finish wear- all part of its story. You could polish to make it shine, but I like it just the way it is. Up for bid is a lot of vintage dollhouse furniture. There are two wood beds. By Mini Dreams, one is an oak Federal Four post bed, measures approx 6 1/2 x 5. The other white four poster bed measures approx 5 1/2 x 4. There is also a wood roll top desk, I do not know the brand name of this one.
