VINTAGE GLOBE- WERNICKE OAK CARD FILE CABINET DOVETAIL This card file is oak. It is dovetailed as is the inside drawer. As you can see there is a Globe-Wernicke sticker on the back inside of the drawer(see photos) I do not know the age of this piece as I acquired it almost 30 years ago in used condition. The cabinet measures 15-3/4"L X 7-3/8"W X 5-7/16"D and is in nice condition with normal wear. Please ask questions before bidding. If you are the winning bidder. Selling a wonderful 1930s Golden Oak/ Mission Oak library/ recipe file cabinet/ox in very good condtion. This fine two drawer box retains the original solid brass hardware on the machine dovetailed drawers. THIS IS VERY HANDSOME IN PERSON BUT I AM A REALLY POOR PHOTOGRAPHER! The finish is lighter in color than these murky pictures indicate. Size is approximately 15 1/2" across. 6" tall by 14 7/8" deep. This was made from oak with a strong, prominent, handsome grain. Primary wood is solid oak, secondary wood(cabinet bottom and drawer bottoms) is a softwood, most likely poplar. This is an American made file cabinet. You can use this for recipe cards, or other filing. Also useful to store your love letters, Indian arrowhead collection or over due bills. VINTAGE POST OFFICE/LIBRARY/MAP FILE 24 DRAWER OAK
I refinished the cabinet myself. And did the best job I could. Regarding the box(not the drawers) when you pull out all the drawers, there is black on the bottom of the box. I didn't bother taking it off, because you don't see it. It's in VERY GOOD CONDITION. I think there was some piece of wood coming out of one of the drawers, but it has been glued down. I bleached it out, and then varnished it. When I varnished it, it became OAK COLOR. The left side I probably should have sanded it better BEFORE I put on the varnish, but in my room it looks perfect. We are moving, therefore, I need to condense all my'beading cabinets' This cabinet is low to the ground; therefore, I have it sitting on two pieces of wood, but I am a woman, so I don't know what kind of wood it is. I covered the wood with contact paper. It's a great ... morecabinet, and I spent a LOT OF TIME fixing this up, and it was hard work. The flat drawers are green metal on the inside. I want to reiterate: Again, for an old cabinet, this is in great condition. I sanded off all the stain, bleached it, and when putting on the VARNISH(only) the oak color came back. The oak has a very distinct grain; dark and light grain. Please feel free to email me with ANY questions. Oh: With reference to the metal card holders, I took off each one when sanding the drawers, and they probably have to be hammered in better, as the white cards can slip through on the bottom. They have all sorts of hardware on the internet, if you want shinney gold color. It would be an enormous amount of work to polish each and every one. There are four nails hold the card holders in place. I put a screwdriver on each nail and sorta hammered them back. They are not perfect, but look very good. I don't know what else to say about this cabinet, but it was my dream come true to own this! DIMENSIONS: 41" width 29" high 17" deep These measurements are approximate. Up for auction to U.S. customers only is a very nice old 4 drawer golden oak library file cabinet. It has dovetail edges on the case and the drawers. It measures 13 inches wide x 13 inches deep x 9 inches tall. The drawers hold 3 x 5 inch cards. The back of the cabinet. As pictured, is finished so it looks like a finely detailed case no matter how you position it on your desk or shelf. There is a missing knob on the front and the drawers do not have any slides. There are also a few light scratches(pictured) on one side which might be able to be touched up. What appears in the picture to be a dark line along that same side is a series of discolored spots in the wood, not scratches. A really nice, practical and handy storage file for all that loose stuff around the house. Library Bureau File Catalog Index/Receipe/Paper/Whatever You Like Box: Two Draw Oak Estimate Age: 1910-1920 Greetings ebay viewers! Today I am offering an original"Library Bureau Makers" File Oak Box. This box is a two draw desk library index card box used in libraries. Office buildings, police stations, and secretary rooms during the early 20 th century. Both draws have the appropriate patent list decals with the last patented date being May 26th. 1903 which would placethis box around 1910-1920. This box is around or over 100 years old. The(what looks to me) original finish is two tone medium shade although the finish has faded a bit and of course shows it’s age a little being its around 100 years old. I have oiled and waxed this cabinet and it looks great even with the finish faded a tad; however it can easily be refinished if ... moredesired(although I do not recommend as its notbad at all, and its good to keep the original finish) The box shows no signs of oak rip. Tears, missing wood, warping. Just a few normal wood knicks here and there. One draw has a custome wood attached/added backstop(see picture five- left draw) that can be removed by pulling out the little two nails; The tab holders and pull handles are brass(copper and Zinc) Thebrass is dirty from age, but can easily be shinned up with brasso however I will leave that up to the buyer(I had originally choose not too keep itlooking old) This library box also has that old wood library smell too it. I am selling this box simply because I have too many vintage oak boxes(including one identical to this) and really just don’t need another one. It is really super and has such a nice smooth wood finish and warm rich golden color. I think just a touch of refinishing will be just what this little cabinet needs. Nothing big perhaps. a little"Formby" on it will be perfect. The top extends in a nice lip and hangs over the entire square top so nicely like a molding! Antique 16" x 14" Wooden Oak Double File Card Box, All Dovetailed, Nice! L@@K!
This is one handsome antique Oak double 3x5 file card box. There are two drawers with antique metal pulls that have a spot for identification slips. Both drawers have the sliding wooden holder to keep your files standing upright. There are three sets of index card dividers. One alphabetical set. Quite old and probably original; another with newer letters, and one set that is blank for your own specific needs. It is all dovetailed and measures 16" deep, 14" wide and 5 1/2" high. Good condition for it's age, and a wonderful addition to your vintage office decor. At some point someone had added slices of cork stoppers to each bottom corner, but two have since disappeared and should be replaced to prevent scratching. Macey Antique Oak 4 Drawer File Cabinet Dovetailed Orig Finish Mission Hardware
I think this antique oak 4 drawer Macey file cabinet is in very good vintage condition. It still retains the majority of the original dark oak finish. It is a bit scratchy on the top and has a few spots but I would leave it as is. I think a bit of scratch cover and a waxing would be sufficient to make it home ready. The interior of the cabinet and drawers are very clean for a vintage item. If you like to refinish items to a light oak look it would refinish nicely. It does have the original Macey Decal of Grand Rapids Mich. and all of the drawers have the original directional decals as well. The hardware is mission style so it would go well with arts and crafts furniture. It has a tiny seperation halfway up one side that is only about a 16th of an inch wide and causes no structurally concerns. Very Rare Oak Acct Register File Desk, Grocery Country Store circa 1907
Pictured is a very rare quartersawn oak McCaskey account register from an old country grocery store. This is not nor was it ever part of a roll top desk. This is a unique item that was made specifically for a store owner to keep track of customers bills and invoices. When you open up the tambour inside are two glass doors that lift up to reveal a storage area for additional receipts. Pencils, notes, cash etc. Underneath the glass doors are the original cutsomer account sheet of people who had opened up accounts at the store and their amounts owed and customer numbers are recorded. You can see that a lot of names were crossed off when their accounts were paid offbut you can still clearly see all of the names on the sheets.On the reverse side of the one glass door is a delinquent bill sheet, all original. Behind the glass doors are metal folders ... morethat open up and customer bills and recipts were kept for each customer. The wood is all quartersawn oak having a very smooth finish and rich color. All panels are raised panel oak.the top opens up very easily and operates smoothly. This item is just so unusual and unique. The top is separate from the base and the top can easily be placed on a counter of your choice. The dimensions in inches are as follows:total 59 1/2 H, 43 W, 29 1/2 D, the height of the base is 27 1/2 H, each glass door is 15 W by 20 L and the depth of the storage unit is 6 1/2 D. Let me start by saying we have not cleaned or oiled this unit and it can look far better. Each of the sections are tight and the unit stands sturdy. There are many small issues with wood corners and trim pieces but the unit as a package is very nice. It measures overall at 58” tall x 33” wide x 26” deep including the drawer handles. There are four original pull rods and one replaced escutcheon. I'm guessing Globe-Wernicke though it is not marked. There are some marked numbers on the front of the unit and some on the wood support pieces. If you opt for shipping we will send 5 individual packages via Greyhound Express $400. This is a real find! My husband worked for the Postal Service. And obtained this vintage card file box when they tore down the old facility and built a new one. It is a rare file box, with"GLOBE" stamped into the top above the drawer(assume it is the name of the company who made it) it is of heavy dark oak, and is in very good condition. Of course, it shows its age and use(it was a functioning card storage box for the letter carriers) but it still looks great. The inside slide adjuster works perfectly. I included several pictures from all angles, including the bottom. The size of the box: 12" long; 5 1/2" high; 7 1/4" across. Holds 3x5 cards. Weight is 7 pounds. 10 ounces.
