Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable and I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. This is an original classic. A 9 drawer library card catalog unit. Used for a distinct set of special collection cartds. I have no known date, though one of the drawer inserts lists patents from 1892 through 1903. But I can't tell you when it was made or when it was purchased. This is an almost perfect size example of the gone and disappearing library card catalog. It can be used as a decorative piece, or for many types of storage. All it takes is imagination. Great Ralph Lauren Library Style Coffee Table. This table has 3 drawers with leather handles. It has nice dove tail details. The wood is light in color and is not perfect. But in good shape. The top has a couple of small pits as seen in the photos. There is some cracking in a few places of the dove tail as seen in the photos and we attribute that to the very dry environment we have it in. ~ Winning bid is for 2 drawers ~ Wood construction with metal hardware. Drawer pulls have a slot top window to put a label in. Pins that run the length of the drawer pull out the front so you can put your punched card in and slide it back through. The metal card snugging paddle is designed to slide along the toothed metal track, but are very difficult to move and could use some sort of lubrication. Drawer faces are dovetailed and backs of drawers are rabbited. Overall length 20" Width 5 3/4 ~ Height of drawer front is 4" top of drawer side 2" I don't know what kind of wood these are made of and I don't want to guess so please view the pictures carefully. This is a lovely 6 drawer index card filing cabinet. It is in"as found" condition and has not been repaired or restored by us. The cabinet is made from solid oak and has a super depth of colour and patina. The cabinet is solidly made and is consequently, heavy. The cabinet was not designed to be a"quality" piece of furniture. But was practical and to be used. Hence, there are marks, scratches, stains and chips to the body and drawers of the cabinet, as you can see from the pictures. The fittings are in copper plate. Some of which has worn away and the base metal is showing through in places. The two handles on the sides are replacements, however, they ... moreare sturdy and well attached. The cabinet has a locking mechanism which runs along the back of the drawers. This has a lock, unfortunately, the remains of the original key is still in the lock. The drawers run well. And are well made and solid and are constructed with finger joints.Some of the drawers still have their original painted metal internal stops. This is a fabulous piece of industrial furniture and it shows wonderful signs of age and use and is looking to continue its working life as a true vintage storage piece. It is also a good size to make an interesting"coffee" table. Rare 1930 Library Folio Cabinet. Melvil Dewey. the Dewey Decimal System) owned a furniture company(Library Sole Makers) this is an original piece of library furniture that they produced. It contains 24: 9-1/4" smaller drawers and 12: 19" larger drawers. The drawers were to store back issues of magazines. It has 4 vertical magazine shelves or compartments on the top that were used for displaying current issues(periodicals) of magazines. In the past 8 years this cabinet has housed craft supplies in all the drawers and magazines in the top. The cabinet measures 61" wide by 61" tall by 16 1/2" deep. This is solid oak and a very heavy piece. You must make your own shipping arrangements. I will help any way I can but I can NOT transport this piece.

Simple. Classical, and timeless mahogany piece from the mid-to-late 1800s that can serve as a sideboard, buffet, or library table. The top is one solid plank of mahogany, 21 1/4" by 45 3/4" by 1 1/8" deep; there is a old crack on one end(see picture) It stands 31 3/8" tall. The frame has two large drawers. 19 3/8" across by 5 1/8" deep, with, I believe, pine interiors and the original turned wood handles. The legs also are beautifully turned have brass end caps with wheels(replacements) The piece has its original finish; in other words.It has not been refinished, and it boasts a beautiful rich color. It's in excellent antique condition, with the usual small scratches and divets from use. Measurements are about 19 1/2” X 31 1/4” X 51” They are in the same type of antique condition. Some have scuffs and show normal wear for their age and use. Usually this type sat on a base which would have been side by side with the other units. The tops are not finished because a huge plank of oak would have gone across all of them. This is a vintage card catalog file with 12 drawers. I was probably made around the 1950's. When the blonde maple finish was popular. The manufacturer's tag on the back is from the Gaylord Brothers Company. It's in very nice condition, with a nice patina and a few normal scuffs and minor dings from the years. It does have 2 very small veneer chips on the back at the bottom edge. These wouldn't be seen if the file was on a desk or table against the wall. Please look at the photos for the best idea of the condition. All the drawers open and close smoothly and have their adjustable card supports. The drawer fronts are maple and the interiors are plastic. It will hold standard 3" by 5" index cards. The drawers can hold objects up to 15" long. Antique Macey 6 Drawer File Cabinet Solid oak with dovetail joints Measures: 14" deep x 15 1/2" wide x 16" tall for 4x6 cards This cabinet has some condition issues although still is a solid piece. Offered here is a gorgeous Vintage library/office 18 drawer index file cabinet or card catalog. Very high quality! Solid Oak with beautiful grain and medium to dark finish. Corner joint on bottom is wide dove-tail. Each of the eighteen drawers have a solid Oak front with secondary solid wood bottom and sides. Hardware is hooked handles/label holders on drawer fronts. These label holders allow you to name the contents inside the drawer. Some of the drawers have an adjustable plate that can slide to separate one area from another. The cabinet offers generous space to hold your CDs or DVD's. Although, the cabinet can be used for other purposes too, ie; crafts, stamps or card collections The gentleman I purchased this from used it to hold his knife collection.
