Wood Library 3x5" Index Card 4 Drawer File Cabinet
Offered as a'buy it now is this 4 drawer 3" x 5" file cabinet manufactured by Shaw Walker. The overall dimensions are 14" wide x 15" deep x 9-1/2" height. There is a crack on one side which is the result of a slight warp in a panel. It has been refinished and the color is very close to original. The japonned hardware is original. The bottom left hand drawer face has been repaired also. All of the interior hardware works as it should. The felt pads cover what was hardware for some sort of interior block or divider. The handling charge is mainly for insurance. Please ask any and all questions before you bid as inquiries are always welcomed. Thank you for your interest.

Up for auction is this really nice vintage 9 drawer Globe Wernicke library card catalog cabinet with dovetail construction drawers and a solid oak dovetailed construction frame cabinet.It has a brass label tag on the back see photo no. 7 which is the only part that is not solid wood. But a plywood veneer. There is some damage to the bottom see photo no. 6, 8, 9 approx. 3/8' or less up across the bottom.There is a split in the cabinet photo no. 3. The back has some scratches and some paint scratches also see photo no. 6. It looks like the paper on the bottom( last pic) could be it's original label. The cabinet is in very good solid condition and the drawers also are in very good working condition. 1940s Vintage "Weis" Wood Library Index Card Catalog Industrial Cabinet File
This antique"Weis" index card catalog file cabinet measures 19-1/4 inches wide. 15" deep, and 14-1/2" tall. Modular construction, it has a top half and a bottom half, with two drawers per section. The drawer fronts are made of wood, not oak, fine grain hardwood such as ash or maybe poplar, and is painted olive drab green. The sides and back are made of a thin sheet material, perhaps plywood or masonite. Please note the original Weis decal located on the top of the cabinet. The drawer pulls are made of metal, probably steel, but I didn't check. This type of cabinet is great for index card storage, of course, but I have others like it that make great'small parts storage' for my workshop. It measures 19.5"L x 13.35"W x 12.75"H. The pictures show how great this cabinet really is. The only flaws that are really visible, besides normal wear and tear, are seen in the last 2 photos, a small gouge in the upper right drawer and 2 small screw holes that have been filled, in the middle lower drawer. This auction is for pick up only) Antique 30 Drawer Oak Library Catalog Card File Cabinet(actually used in a library) 2 Shelves-silver colored(non-magnetic) pulls- Dovetailed- I think it is from around the 1950's or 60's but not sure- The drawer section of the cabinet is in 2 sections, each with 15 drawers, one with the shelves- Height is 55-1/2" The width is 33" depth is 17" The drawer& shelf section without legs is 31-1/4" high; the drawers are 5-1/2" wide- The drawers do not have rods to hold cards in place but the back metal plate slides forward and back- The sides are an oak veneer and some of it has chipped on the bottom edge(see photos) there is some other edge nicks that don't look like veneer, and the drawer fronts don't look like they are but I don't ... morereally know. This cabinet is 12" deep by 11" wide by 11.5" tall. There is 4.5" rail to rail inside each drawer and 10" deep. Each drawer has a metal plate that slides up and back to adjust the storage space. Remington Rand, Gaylord Brothers. Sole Makers? but the craftsmanship of this piece is superb. For example: the drawers are all wood(no plastic here) with solid oak fronts the Dovetailing on the front of the drawersis intricate and precise with 4 dovetails instead of the typical 2 or 3. GREETINGS! This fabulous oak 60 drawer stacking library index card file was manufactured by the Yawman& Erbe Manufacturing Company Y& E of Rochester New York. The company was founded by Philip H Yawman& Gustav Erbe in 1880 and I believe this piece to be from circa 1900. It breaks apart into 12 sections of 5 drawers each plus another piece which is the top of the cabinet. It measures 59" tall at it's highest point and is 33" wide and 17" deep(18" with the handles) Each shelf measures 5 1/8" wide x 15 1/2" long x 2 1/8" to the top of the of the drawer or 3 1/2" to the top of the front of the drawer without an insert. I have inserts for each of the shelf units though so you can use them for storage without having to worry about the fact this was at one time a library card index file. The 8 drawers have the original maroon painted metal bottoms with the super nice copper colored sliding dividers(see photos) There are no cracks. Splits, or gouges to any of the cabinet or drawers. There are 2 tiny tack nails missing from the metal drawer pulls. No key but the complete original locking mechanism is intact in back of the bottom right drawer. Bakelite Handles} 2 drawer card catalog cabinet made by Globe Wernicke Each drawer has a little instruction card glued to the back detailing how to operate the hardware All hardware is present and in good working order Has a few scratches and scrapes on it but remains as solid as ever Has a crack to the bottom wood Handles are made of a bakelite type material In the original condition"as found" All in all an interesting piece that makes for great storage. As you can see someone was using it for vintage cassettes tapes.

It looks like someone modified(cut) one of the slides& angled front piece inside ... moreof the drawer, one of the drawers is missing the angled piece that attaches to the front inside the drawer& a wood piece has been added to the bottom of one of the slides in place of a metal one that would have been original. Globe 4 drawer file cabinet with patent date of 1905. Three drawers have knob pulls and one has the thumb pull tab. The three with the knob pulls have a stamped patent date on the inside" Patented Jan 03 1905" These have metal- brass plated dividers( a magnet sticks to them) photo's#2. 3 and 4. The other drawer lower left has a wood divider as shown in photos#6 and 7. There are three condition items to consider: A slight separation to the side at the top 3mm's. A ding in the wood top towards the back- 10 mm's x 5mm wide(photo#11) There are a few paint spots on top. Retains the Globe logo on front- looks great in an office or studio. Dimensions: 14" x 17" x 9 2/8" All drawers are dovetailed as shown in the last photo. All tight and clean.
