Great vintage 1950s-1960s Midcentury library card catalog made by Remington Rand-Library Division. Cabinet is in nice condition with some expected scrapes. Nicks, scratches, etc-but overall VERY NICE. All the pulls and card holders are present, including the interior adjustable clips for holding index cards. Measures about 33x17x15" Top is removable for use with other stackable sections. Drawers pull in and out flawlessly with no rubbing or tightness. Two drawer fronts have tight cracks but does not affect performance or aesthetic. Small chip to veneer in rear bottom corner. Nice piece that I'm happy to ship, freight, or meet locally for pickup. Purchased from old building auction. I will do my best to describe. 12 drawers. Oak outer, metal inner all marked Globe. This is 2 pieces stacked, 6 drawers each. This will need some restoration. There is a laminate piece that was placed on the top. There are 2 drilled holes in the top. Faded paint? markings throughout. One drawer pull is split, there is one pull missing. Wheels were attached on the bottom with ply wood, can be removed. This stands 26.6" tall minus the wheels and ply wood. 33" in width. Very heavy. Antique Mission era oak card catalog. It is probably Weis. This is a 2 piece stacking unit. More pieces could probably be added. It has great patina with a dark oak finish. It would be lovely refinished. The cards drawers are wood and slide easily with no breaks. The unit does show some age cracks on the side and is actually missing some wood- see pictures. Very solid and heavy. Check the pictures. The drawers are just over 6" across and just over 4" tall so it was made to fit the 4x6" index cards. The entire unit measure 13.5" tall. 15" deep, 10" tall. Massive piece that will need to be picked up. Only other possibility is a mover but I can't arrange it nor take responsibility after removed. An amazing old library card catalog system. Beyond heavy solid and decorative. A collectible and functional. An era which is coming to an end so soon a piece of history or the past. They are becoming hard to find so if you love collectibles reminding you of a life from the past or a library. Reader lover then this is a must have worth the hard part of moving it. I would say it is almost all original and intact. I know there are a few card slits missing and maybe a knob or 2 replaced or missing. It was bought a few years ago from a sale. Vintage Wagemaker Wood Library Index Card File Cabinet 2-Drawer
Maker marked Wagemaker of Grand Rapids. Michigan, this two-drawer file cabinet is for 3x5 size index cards. The cabinet measures about 13 1/4” wide, stands 5” tall and is 14” deep. Most noticeable is the wear on the top and discoloring. One side has what looks to be paint remnants. There are no slides inside the drawers and the slots have been stapled closed. The corners and edges have generally survived with minimal damage. But there is one spot at the bottom left front edge that is sizable. The dovetail work is great and the decal is mostly intact. Globe Wernicke, Cinncinatti, Catalog No. 3317 B-9; Finish 279 1/2" It's about 36" tall and in great shape. It comes apart into 4 pieces(plus drawers and rods) and is very heavy. The frame and drawer fronts are oak wood and the inner drawers are made of metal that is an olive green color. The rods on all of these drawers don't match completely. One set is all of a pewter colored hexagon shaped knob and the second set has random rods in both(3)brass and(12)another metal in the pewter color family. A bit of an eclectic mixture to be sure. Here is a great vintage oak Library Bureau Sole Makers 4 drawer file with a great back panel. The file is 12 1/4 inches wide. 8 1/4 inches tall and 13 1/4 inches deep. 3 on the plates were the knobs screw in are marked Pat'D Mar 15, 92. The file is dovetailed. Up for sale is a Beautiful Old Vintage Antique Oak File Filing Office Legal Cabinet Furniture by Library Bureau Sole Makers(or Solemakers) This is a very nice cabinet that has the perfect Mission. Arts& Crafts style. I believe this was made in 1901 as the metal clasps on the inside of the drawers(see photo) are marked"Pat. Sept. 24 1901" This cabinet features 4 drawers with nice architectural pulls/ hardware. The plaque on the front of the cabinet reads"Library Bureau Sole Makers" It's a very heavy piece. It weighs about 55 pounds. It measures 17 5/8" tall, is 15 1/4" wide and is 23 3/4" deep(front to back) Please see photo with soda can for a sizing reference. I'm not sure if this used to sit on an office table or a library ... moredesk. The drawer face measures 12 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" tall/high. There's 2 section in each drawer so I think they were used for card filing. There are wood pieces in the back of each drawer(which I guess was used for adjusting the cards) but there is one drawer that's missing one. The cabinet shows wear as would be expected of an old. Heavily used wood(tiger oak? not sure) cabinet- it has scratches, scrapes marks, dings, dirt etc.The metal parts display tarnish. On the bottom the left corner, on the front of the cabinet, there's an approximately 1 1/2"2" section of damage to the wood. Very nice Steelmaster index card cabinet. Stackable. Missing Key and somebody cut the lock off as pictured. Minor surface. Fits the 8x5 index cards. A little goof off and the front stickers will come right off. Measures 16 inches long by 9 1/2 inches wide and 7 1/4 inches tall. Still needs some cleaning. I just wiped it down with a damp cloth as you can see in pics some of the damp areas.

It does have a lot scratches and scuffs and there is a white mark on the left side of it. Then on top of the piece one side is darker. The back of the piece there is a pretty big deep scratch. The four drawers do not have the same color, I am not for sure if it is different wood or just a different finish, but they are not the same color. The joints might not be as tight as they once were, but once again this is a very old piece. I would consider this piece to be very clean. The bottom is not as smooth finished as the rest of the cabinet and it is full of scratches and dings. Some type of oil or finish has been applied to it and the inside of the box and the bottom of the drawers does not have the oil applied to it. I have made a video at the bottom of the page so you can see how the drawers open and close. Also two of the four drawers has a small hole on the front of them and they all have scratches and dings.

This auction features an antique dovetailed oak library index card file. This gem measures 16 x 14 x 10 ¼ inches and has 4 sliding drawers. Each drawer measures 14 ¾ inches in depth. 6 inches outside measurement, and the inside measurement for the file is 5 inches wide. This piece retains the original finish with just a few areas with light damage from use. Mostly a few small scratches on the top. This piece is unmarked as to the manufacturer, but similar to the Globe Wernicke or Macey models I have seen in the past. The bottom retains the original felt. For sale is this nice 4 drawer Oak Library index cabinet. The entire outside is wood and the interior drawers are metal. The piece is entirely original- it will hold up to 4 x 6 size index cards. The wood is in good condition- there is one area that is lighter but the wood is not missing. The piece can be enjoyed as is or is ready for your restoration. Rare 1930 Library Folio Cabinet. Melvil Dewey. the Dewey Decimal System) owned a furniture company(Library Sole Makers) this is an original piece of library furniture that they produced. It contains 24: 9-1/4" smaller drawers and 12: 19" larger drawers. The drawers were to store back issues of magazines. It has 4 vertical magazine shelves or compartments on the top that were used for displaying current issues(periodicals) of magazines. In the past 8 years this cabinet has housed craft supplies in all the drawers and magazines in the top. The cabinet measures 61" wide by 61" tall by 16 1/2" deep. I have no idea what these 4 drawers are used for. What I do know is that they are antique. Probably mahagony? fronted drawars with tapered backs with heavy brass hardware(some brass is missing, see pix) If you know what type of furniture these go to please let me know! maybe they were designed to go in a cabinet and then be hung vertically on a wall when filled with something? The drawers are numbered 164. 165, 166, and 168 and measure just under 4 5/8" wide, by just under 3/4" tall by 9 3/4" long. Purpose aside. These are very interesting drawers!

Library Bureau Sole Markers index card file cabinet catalog Circa 1892 RARE
Offered for auction is this rare antique card catalog file cabinet. The cabinet was made by Library Bureau Sole Makers. Has the original label on the front of the cabinet. This cabinet had double rows of file cards in each drawer. You cant read this on the smaller brass plates but they all are marked PAT'D MAR. 15, 92. Cabinet is in very good condition. There is a split in the wood on the top(see pictures) The drawers all slide very well. The oak fronts of these drawers have decorative lines in them. The decorative lines were a popular Eastlake feature for that time period, CIRCA 1892. This is the oldest card file from this company that I have seen. I have even researched some of the history of these online and can't even find a picture of one this old. Most of the ones I am seeing were all made after 1900. I think one of the most ... moreunique things about this cabinet is that most of the file cabinets you see are made to stack on one another and this cabinet has finished edges on top and base, therefore was made to stand alone. Libraries that far back probably didn't need huge sets of drawer files. What you see in the pictures is what I have of this original cabinet. It is missing some of the hardware. This is a great opportunity for you to have a piece of American library history and make a very good investment. This cabinet is probably close to 80 years old and is in still really good condition it has dovetail jointing on the cabinet and on the drawer pulls themselves. It is Tiger oak wood and there are a lot of tiger stripes throughout. I've never seen one with with such an array of tiger stripes. One of the drawers has a solid bottom in it for pencils and tape and staplers and what have you. The plywood on the back has a 1 inch to a 1& 1/2 inch wide piece of veneer missing off of it which could be darkened and backed up against a wall and not even noticed. The cabinet measures 13& 1/2wide by 13& 1/2 tall by 16&1/2 deep. The drawer measures 5& 1/8 wide by 3& 1/4 tall by 14& 1/2 inches deep. The keepers all work properly too. Remington Rand Library Card Catalog 45 Drawer Card Filing Cabinet 1960's ?
Greetings vintage furniture lovers and collectors of small items that require organization! Up for auction is a really nice 45 drawer Library Card Catalog by Remington Rands Library Division. This particular unit was once in service at the Detroit Public Library 5201 Woodward avenue.It is stamped as such on each section of files. I believe it is constructed of oak and stained walnut.It breaks down into three sections of 15 drawers.There is an insert that has two pull out work stations that can be placed between any two sets of files.The three sections sit on a wood and steel frame and there is a section that fits on the top that completes it. The drawers are all solid wood and the tracks in the bottom are steel.I think all the hardware on the front of the drawers is brushed aluminum. I saw a basement workshop once that had one these units ... morewith the three sections sitting along the back of a deep workbench side by side. These drawers are big enough to hold some tools like screwdrivers and wrenches and still small enough to store hardware and such. These cabinets have dozens of uses limited only by your imagination! This item is in very good overall condition with great vintage patina.It is only missing 3 knobs. The steel on the stand could use a little TLC but it is very sturdy and heavy! Please look closely at the pictures as they play an important role in describing the actual physical condition of this item. I will upgrade the pictures tomorrow if need be.Some didn't turn out as I had hoped.One picture shows a large blotch on one side.That is paper stuck to the side of the cabinet with some sort of adhesive. Antique Oak 15 Dovetail Drawers Library Bureau Card Catalog File Cabinet
Offered for your consideration is a great antique 15-drawer oak card file cabinet. Beautiful craftsmanship with dovetailed drawers- and it sits atop ball feet. Versatile piece due to its height and finished back– could be used for so many things. In the office. Kitchen, family room- use it as a bench in the bedroom at the end of your bed for storage, use it to store wine bottles, and so much more. CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition with normal wear due to age and use. There is a chip in the oak on the front edge and underside of the top. All 15 drawers have the adjustment slides to keep cards in the upright position. On one of the drawers– the pull needs a replacement screw and the other screw is not original. One of the drawer pulls is slightly bent. There is a dark ring mark on the top as well as some slight fading. It appears that ... morean amateur has touched up the finish on a couple of the drawers.
