Offered is an genuine antique jelly cabinet from North Carolina. This is a country piece made from poplar and secondary wood is southern yellow pine. It was handmade probably around 1850 to 1890. It shows hand done scribe lines. Old square cut nails, handmade dovetails, chamfered floating panels, hand cut mortise and tenon joints and some of the lumber are very wide, unlike what was available later. I have owned this jelly cabinet for about twenty years. I purchased it in Advance N.C. My guess is that it may have had an upper piece set back on the the top, which allowed the maker to use less than prime lumber on the top. I found it useful for just storing items, which basically is what it was used for originally. So if you want a piece that offers a country look in your new modern home, this could be just the right item. Everything appears ... moreto be original, hinges, door closures, drawer pulls and even an old mouse hole in the back. Powder post beetles made their home in this piece, but I have never seen any since I've owned it. The cabinet is sturdy, holds lots of weight, not flimsy at all. Large Rare Primitive 1800's Jelly Cupboard-Porcelian Handle
A jelly cupbaord which was removed from a 1890's home. It was in the basement sitting on a dirt floor which is the cause of the damages. Not sure what type wood or how old but I purchased the home in 1977 from a 78 yr old women at that time. There is some damage around the bottom but it still stands sturdy. There is also some damage to the top but it has not gone thru. There is a small porcelian handle. The cupboad measures 57.5" tall(61" tall with the front lip) 30.5" wide and 16 11/16" deep and has 4 shelves. This is very old and just needs some TLC. Email me for more photos. Antique Primitive Pie Safe Jelly Cupboard Pantry Armoire Blanket Storage Shelf
This is a Fantastic Primitive Antique Vintage Pine Wood Pie Safe/Jelly-Blanket-Storage Cabinet that was painted Avocado Green and has the distressed look. I purchased this from an Estate Sale where I was able to speak to the original owners grandson. He. At the age of 67 now, told me he remembers this being in his grandparents house for as long as he can remember back. He told me his mother painted the cupboard back in the 1960's for his grandmother the Avocado Green color it is now on the outside and a canary yellow on the inside. It has its original double doors with key turn, however no key with it, and original double pull out bottom drawers. The shelves on the inside have been replaced and are not the originals. There was one and I put that on the bottom shelf because the wood is split. I believe finding some older barn wood for ... morereplacement shelves would be great. I am sure the new owner would have some great replacement ideas. On the back there is one board that is split part way. Please see picture. Also on the back is stamped in black DeWitt-Seitz Co. Duluth, Minn. It measures 80"s tall. 41"s at its widest point which is the top trim. 39& 1/4"s wide in the center across the doors. Drawers are 6"s tall and 17"s long. Doors themselves are 59"s tall and approx. 17& 1/2"s wide. The sides are 16"s wide. If you would like any other measurements or pictures, please do not hesitate to let me know. This large late 1800's country cupboard has a single door and 6 wood shelves. It has the old original green paint on the front and sides. The interior of the door and edges of the shelves are a darker green and the shelves and the back of the cupboard are not painted. Measurements- Height 78 1/2" Width 37" Depth 15" Shelves 35" long. 13" deep, 3/4" thick There are 2 strap hinges on one side of the door. A hasp closure and a wood door latch on the other, and decorative molding on top. It is a heavy. Sturdy piece in very good condition. There are scratches. Antique Jelly Cupboard/Server. I'm not sure what wood this is. Maybe cherry or walnut? It has been refinished(the dealer we bought it from refinished it) Measures 19 7/8 inches deep by 48 1/2 across. To the top of the server part is 41 5/8 inches. To the very top approximately 74 inches. Has a nice arch design and two side things that maybe were candle holders? Chestnut Jelly Cupboard / Pie Safe c. 1870
Here is a nice chestnut jelly cupboard. Square nail constructed with original pulls and no loss in height. A little deterioration exists on one leg. This can also be classified as a pie safe since it has cutouts and screen on the sides but, to me, a pie safe has tins. This is just a good, honest cupboard with the usual mouse chews, scratches, nicks, everything that goes along with 150 years of use. It's always nice to find chestnut. Measures 51" high. 41" wide, 16" deep. Pick up here or freight.
