It stands on 4 curved legs decorated with one bronze sabo each. There is a single door with a functional lock and a key. The piece is hand painted on the bottom in the manner of Vernis Martin. Bottom of the front door has a courting figural scenes, a man and a lady sitting in the woods, while the sides have nature scenes- beautiful landscapes. Main feature of this piece, the hand painting, is of the best quality. Along all edges are bronze mounts, swag with rope and tassle on the top, floral and garlands are stretched all around. Two pairs of Faience Tin Glazed terra cotta tiles with a pale yellow ground with a chinoiserie decoration. The the hand painted figures each left and right facing. One of a man holding a tall pole and other figure sitting with a fishing pole. Each dressed in asian style clothing. These are mid to late 18th. century. The tile depicting a man seated while fishing and facing right measures 4& 7/8" square x 1/2" thick. The tile with figure standing is 5" Square and 1/2" thick. The colors include: green. Fushia, salmon/pink, and orange- and edged in black Condition: There is chipping to the tile edges. No cracks, break or repairs.

French Trivet- Up for auction is a lovely porcelain trivet or tile. It measures 5.25" square and is about.5" in height. It has a nice scene of a woman sitting on a tree stump. The colors are vibrant. There are two small chips at each corner of the top. But on the rim of the green. When placed down on a table or even hung on a wall, they are barely noticeable. It is black with gold paint on both the shade and base. The inside of the shade is a painted a cream or light tan color. It is working but should be rewired for safety's sake for use in your home. SIZE: The lamp measures approximately 19.5 inches to the top of the finial. The shade is 11.75 inches wide at the widest point. CONDITION: The condition is excellent- there are no dings or dents to the metal. The inside of the shade has some minor crackling to the light colored paint. There is some age discoloration to the"candlesticks" that the light bulbs sit upon and some on the inside of the shade. I did not attempt to remove the few TINY white specks of paint that got on the lamp a ... morelong time ago as it sat in a room that was repainted(you can see them in the close-up pictures of the base) They could be cleaned off if they bother you but I did not find them distracting so I did not try. This is an amazing circa 1825 earthenware/soft paste sauce tureen in remarkable condition for age. The first picture is shown with a pearlescent enamel handle ladle(not included) just for some perspective. It consists of three pieces. The footed bowl, the lid and the stand. 7&3/4" tall, 7&3/8" handle to handle and stand is 6&7/8" in diameter. Intricate hand painted green and gold/brown(with a bit of burgundy) floral over a lavender pink and base white. Raised roses and additional gold decorations on handles. Remarkable condition for age without chips, cracks, hairlines, flakes, stains and no crazing noted. The bowl and the stand are marked with an impressed quarter inch" N" and numbered"2307" by hand in red paint indicative of the pattern number. Here is another lovely. Never touched, French 19th Century Hand Painted Vernis Martin Curio cabinet(or a Vitrine) bronze mounted to the max. This item can be used for display, on 3 blue velvet covered shelves and one storage compartment on the bottom(behind the painting on the bottom of the door. It stands on 4 curved legs decorated with one bronze sabo each. There is a single door with a functional lock and a key. The piece is hand painted on the bottom in the manner of Vernis Martin. Bottom of the front door has a courting figural scenes, a man and a lady sitting in the woods, while the sides have nature scenes- beautiful landscapes. Main feature of this piece, the hand painting, is of the best quality. Along all edges are bronze mounts, swag with rope and tassle on the top, floral and garlands are stretched all around. Antique Marble Mantel Clock w/ French Movement Floral Painted Enamel Face for re
While living in Belgium I purchased this clock and had it restored at a local clock shop close to where we lived at the time. When we moved back to the states. Despite careful packing, the bracket the movement is attached to became loose and it broke the enamel face around the hands. I could not get it to work properly after that move with the damage and all. It is unfortunate but hopefully can be once again restored by someone with the talent. It has a wonderful delicate bell chime that I always found very charming. The only markings that I was able to find we the numbers 2443 52 stamped on the movement directly under the bell and the pendulum which is stamped 2445. The key is included as well. Cosmetic defects are that it looks like is must have had a brass decoration under the face because there are tiny holes and some old adhesive on ... moresome sort. A characterful French hand painted antique fox terrier dog silver vesta case
Here is a stunning antique French silver vesta case. With very characterful hand painted portrait of a wire haired fox terrier dog on the front. The dog portrait is very well observed. And he is shown wearing a collar and with an alert expression. This is a properly hand painted portrait, not one of the modern printed ones you see rather a lot of at the moment(although I am unable to guarantee the age and medium of the painted image, but it is certainly done in period style, and was bought from a long-standing dealer in jewellery and silver at the Kempton Antiques Market) The case has what seem to be a French hallmark(in a diamond type shape) On the reverse, but, although I have looked at it through a loupe, it is very difficult to make out the mark precisely. I think it has been rubbed slightly from being carried in a pocket over time. In ... morefact, the whole case has a lovely velvety smooth feel to the silver from being carried in this way. The front has“Laurent” in very small lettering just below the flap. I think this could be the name of the original owner. Or perhaps a maker or company. I would date this vesta to the early years of the twentieth century. The top flap of the case flips up to reveal the aperture for the matches to be stored. And there is a striker area on the base. The matches shown in the pictures are not included in the sale as postal carriers will not accept combustible items. Condition is generally very good. With light scratching from years of polishing(quite normal, of course) a few miniscule depressions, and no visible damage to the painted image. The flap top has a very slight upward bend to the middle, and the striker is still rough, but slightly worn. The case really does have the feel of a genuine old article that has been used and loved over the years. And well looked after too. The case measures 1.7 inches(4.2 cm) high and 1.1 inches(2.7 cm) wide. This would make a stunning addition to any collection of antique vesta cases. And would appeal to collectors of dog, and especia

Francois Boucher French sevres style porcelain tray, which appears to be circa 1860. Having a hand painted Francois Boucher design of a mythological scene depicting what appears to be Venus seated on an oyster shell, with Triton at her side blowing his conch shell to calm the seas. There is also a Putti straddling or riding a dolphin while he consults Venus, and a Cherub seated on clouds in the sky casting flowers over Venus. The scene is contained in a deep dark cranberry circular border, and a gold circular border with a scallop edge. The tray is about 14 3/4 inches by 9 1/2 inches, and is about 3/4 inches deep. ... moreThe entire edge of the tray is finished with a deep dark cranberry border that is highlighted by a line of gold, and 12 stylized gold flowers. This tray is in very, very good condition, and it has no chips or cracks. There are a couple of small factory imperfections on the front and back, these have occurred during the original production. There are some very minor areas where the paint or glaze has been effected by discoloration or scratches but these are very, very minimal considering the age of this item. There is no glaze on the bottom. It has an impressed marked on the bottom that looks like"030" and a hand painted gold crown with an"L" to the right of it. Overall this item is in very good museum quality condition, considering it's approximate 150+ years of age.
