This cabinet came from a local estate and was passed down from one family on down. It still has its original shipping tag on the back to Prentice. WI(12 miles south of our shop location) My estimation is that this cabinet was originally made from 1895 to 1905. The finish is its original with its darkened patina. It is in exceptionally nice original condition. The only exception to that is that there is a crack in the top of the door, that doesn't seem to effect the door, but is there. It comes with its original key. There are no losses on any of the cabinet, backsplash, or feet. This is a stunning probably early to mid 19th century Chippendale style solid mahogany cabinet. It consists of two pieces. The top has two large doors with 20 individual panes of glass which are individually glazed and create with the unusual framing a very interesting pattern. A few of the panes have been replaced. A few parts of the framing around glass have also been replaced/repaired. The doors will lock with the original lockset and key. It may be originally of UK origin and possibly Irish. I have not nailed down where it was built but it came from a prominent Charleston estate. The base has two hand dovetailed and very roomy drawers.and the secondary wood is pine. There is a cool carved and shaped skirt in front and on the sides and the legs are cabriole which end in carved ball and claw feet.which are fabulous and detailed. The drawer ... morehardware is new. The finish is original. The lighter parts of the mahogany absolutely represent that rich patina that is only achieved over many. Many years. Inside. Antique Vintage Small Wood Glass China Cabinet Display Case (NO SHIPPING!)
This auction is for a China Cabinet that was given to us by my cousin. She said it was old but she didn't know much about it. I couldn't find any markings or any way to identify it but it definitely looks old. It has two removable shelves held up by dowels. All sides are made of wood. The bad parts: Two spots on the glass have tiny chips. Water marks on the top, cracks on the back wood and the bottom shelf and the bottom part of on of the sides is missing something. You can see all that in the pictures. It measures 49.5 inches Tall. 33inches wide and 16.5 inches deep. It doesn't weight a lot but it is bulky and very fragile so. NO SHIPPING, this is pickup only. The lower portion provides plenty of hidden storage, with three(3) compartments plus a drawer. To maximize use of the space, a previous owner has added a plywood shelf in each compartment, but the shelves simply sit on their supports and can easily be removed if the vertical space is needed for storage.
