The roller stamp reads: UPHOLSTERER FINE FURNITURE CHARLES RITTMANN 61 HIGH STREET PAWTUCKET DRAPERY AND LACES; CABINET MAKER and FINISHER; Shades& Fixtures; Interior Decorator; Mattresses Spring Beds The width of the wooden roller is: 3 1/2" The diameter of the wooden roller is: 3 1/4" The wooden handle measures 6" long. Over length of the roller stamp is 11 3/4" Overall width of the roller stamp is 4" The lettering of the rubber stamp is adhered to the wooden roller. The lettering is in very good and legible condition. The roller is spring loaded to return to it's original starting position for the next manufacturing label inking. The wooden handle is attached to a metal Y-shaped metal arm. This metal arm supports the rubber stamp roller ... moreand internal spring-loaded mechanism. The ends of the Y-shaped metal arm have various groves to rest on the inking tray. This is a very rare Charles Rittmann upholstery/furniture stamp from circa early 1800's. Only a handful of these were produced and used for his business in Pawtucket. Rhode Island. Not even sure how many of these still survive today and this might be one of the last known to exist. This was my husband's'repair stash' of old hinges which came in handy if he needed an old hinge to repair a piece of the antique furniture I used to buy and sell. What you see is what you get for I know nothing about them. The large strap hinge is iron- the rest are other metals- in the third picture you will see six brass ones in an unopened bag never used. So there you have it- they seemed like treasures to him when he was trying to take an old piece back to its original state and if you are in the furniture repair business you should probably look closely. 12W9 Old Hollow Barrel Style Cabinet Furniture Key Skeleton Antique Vintage
This key measures just shy of 1-3/4 inch long. Is black from patina(magnetic- so iron or steel) and has 12W9 engraved on one side of the handle. No other makers marks to help identify it. It is a hollow barrel style with a flat handle, has teeth(or bit) on both sides. I believe this to be some kind of furniture key. But I'm far from an expert so I could very well be wrong. There is one spot that may be rust at the base of the handle(see photos) Otherwise, the key appears to be rust free, just very heavy patina. I accept Paypal. You are looking at: a Vintage Antique Mirror* probably belonged to a dresser(see 2 photos with holes for nails& hinge marks) Hinge areas on side of frame are not deep in wood& can be sanded down or painted over* 28 1/4" tall at highest point x 32" width& wood frame is 7/8 of an inch thick* frame is real wood(I can't tell just what) It is dark. wood frame has white paint on left front side about 1" long on fold& no more than 1/4" wide(at its widest point) wood frame has scratches(see some of the photos) may need to be sanded. Refinished or painted; scratches are on the left side of the mirror misc scratches is about 3" long on fold& other scratches are along the left side& bottom of the mirrorbut are not deep& can be sanded down or painted over* on back of mirror. All of the brass hardware. Including the key hole covers are original.As you can see the hardware is the icing on this cake! The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made. The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the highly sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of ... morehand rubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction. Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years. The photos show casters in the legs. They will not be included.I find they tend to split the legs.There is a knot depression on the upper left side(see photo) I think it adds character and figuring just like the top of the dresser. Up for auction are four(4) cast iron furniture legs from the 1800's. These legs are 24" tall and about 16 pounds each. They have factory holes in the top for bolting to a table top. They are in great condition with no breaks or cracks. These were originally the legs from a milling machine from back when objects were much more ornate. Now they can be turned into a beautiful and valuable piece of custom furniture. I prefer local pick up(in New Rochelle. NY 10801, about 20 minutes west of Long Island) but if you really want them shipped, email me and maybe we can work something out by packaging the legs in individual boxes. I have a large mixed lot of salvaged furniture or door handle hardware for your consideration. The majority of these pieces are older antique and mostly brass. There is a nice cast iron trunk pull handle and ornate cast brass plates with bail handles as well. A few nice square craftsman bungalow style handles in the lot too that are solid cast brass. Questions are welcome and encouraged otherwise what you see is what you get. Possibly a nice lot for that hard to find match for yoiur renovation.
